FastAndFuriousParticipantHe passed Larry “Legend” Bird last night on the All-Time scoring list…..putting him 29th in the history of the NBA.
Is Carter a HOF?

Mad MaxParticipantProlly, the Pacers would be smart to trade for him.

festar35ParticipantI have thought that so many times, he would be an awesome 6th man. What would Dallas want though, I would be up for Granger for Carter, Beaubois and 1st Round pick this year.

BouncyBallParticipantDid you just ask if the 29th best all-time scorer is a HOF?
0- Posted on: Thu, 02/14/2013 - 11:59am #747448

TRC1991Participantyeah he did…and its actually a decent question, not sure which way you’re leaning

FastAndFuriousParticipantIt’s a legit question
Bernard King isn’t in the HOF either.
Carter and King have the same accolades:
Both scoring Legends(Carter 29 on list, King 40 on list)
Both 2x All NBA
Carter has more All-Star Apperances with 8, but King has 4
It’s not as crazy as your making it seem

BouncyBallParticipantOver Carter’s career here are just some of the current hall of famers he has averaged more points than.. Reggie Miller, Moses Malone, Clyde Drexler, Magic Johnson, Walt Frasier, Bob Cousy, Kevin McHale, James Worthy, Scottie Pippen, Bill Russell. I realize he won’t have the same all-star appearances, championships and other stats compared to some of these players but I mean when you average more points than some of the names listed you gotta get some credit…

FastAndFuriousParticipantIt’s not all about points tho bro.
Some of those guys you named won rings, something Carter didn’t do.
But I never said Carter should or shouldn’t make the HOF, I just wanted to know how everyone felt, because it’s a toss up as of now.

torukParticipantI Think Carter has some nice achievements but they aren’t the factor that puts him on the HOF. For me is the fact that he influenced a lot of young players and fans with his style of play. He is also one of the top 5 dunkers all time in my opinion. So all of that makes him a HOF for me.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI think so,it might take him 3 tries before he makes it…But eventually he’ll get in….
Carter exceeded expectations, the so called experts didnt expect him to become an all nba performer and multiple all star…Maybe 1 of the most amazing players ever to play..Despite his flashiness,Carter has a solid all around game, was an ok but not great defender, could pass and shot the ball….

ZEOParticipantIdk but he is the BEST DUNKER IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA! TAKE THAT TO THE BANK AND DEPOSITED THAT!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/14/2013 - 1:55pm #747517
WälseParticipantLike J.P. said, Vince Carter is the best dunker ever, hands down.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantDamn carter was a waste of talent, dude had legendary athleticism, legit three point and midrange shooting ability, excellent handles that could take anyone off the dribble, had a very good post game, and was an awesome finisher in traffic. Too bad he coasted and let his emotions dictate his play

Mr. 19134ParticipantYes Carter will make the HOF for making basketball relevant in Toronto while in the process becoming the best in game dunker the NBA as ever saw. At the end of the day you can’t ignore the excitement Vinsanity brought to the league with his high flying antics and he did possess a complete all around game being able to shoot with range, pass, and could just flat out score on the biggest stage.
Go check out the 2001 series between the Sixers and Raptors when A.I. and Carter broke the record for most 50 point games in a series, it was epic and part of the legacy that will put him in the HOF.

FastAndFuriousParticipantCarter was a waste of talent???? Are you sure you meant to type that.
Could Carter’s career had been better? Maybe
But he still will go down as one of the best to ever do it, Steve Francis is a waste of talent, Vince Carter not so much, he just didn’t maximize his potential, but still was very good.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/14/2013 - 2:22pm #747540

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantYeah but he could’ve been so much more, he was always talked about how he coasted and let his emotions dictate his play on the court. He had the talent to be better than Kobe but he didn’t have the work ethic or mindset like Kobe. His numbers are great but they leave me wondering
0 - Posted on: Thu, 02/14/2013 - 2:23pm #747548

FastAndFuriousParticipantAnd your right.
But he wasn’t a waste of talent, as I said Steve Francis, Ricky Davis etc….are guys who are a waste of talent, Carter’s still had a very productive NBA career.
0- Posted on: Thu, 02/14/2013 - 2:41pm #747556

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantYeah this guy should have averaged 30+ a couple seasons if he really worked towards his full potential, his numbers are still great and he also brought life to Toronto basketball

HitsterParticipantVince’s career statistics are good enough to make him a legit HOF contender but add to that his popularity and what he brought to the game then IMO he becomes a near HOF certainty. However with so many contenders also nearing the ends of their career, he might not get in on first vote but I think he definitely gets in within a few years of being eligible.
