Last week Rich Paul was fired by Marcus Morris and Norleans Noel..

Now rumors are saying Paul had Morris turn down a $41 Million contract with the Clippers..interesting..see below:

Marcus Morris averaged 13.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game over two years for the Boston Celtics, so it was strange that it took long for him to sign a deal with a team this off-season.

Before he backed out of a two-year, $20 million deal with the Spurs and signed a 1-year, $15 million deal with the New York Knicks, he actually had a very lucrative offer from an all-of-a-sudden Western Conference contender.

According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News, Morris turned down an offer from the Clippers, worth roughly $41 million, earlier in free agency.

Morris would then fire agent Rich Paul, leading to rumors that Rich Paul didn’t want Morris on the Clippers to compete against LeBron James.

Somethings gotta give here. If the Clippers made that deal they wouldnt have space to sign Beverly. They would have also filled a forward role. But the Beverley deal got negotiated very early….

Are you telling me this deal would have filled the Clippers salary cap and made it so they couldnt sign Kawhi and trade for PG? Rich Paul…just screwed the Raptors.

I don’t understand the part about not wanting Marcus Morris to compete against LeBron.

In what world does LeBron give a crap about Marcus Morris?

If LeBron’s agent thinks Marcus Morris could potentially make LeBron look bad, what does he know about LeBron that the rest of us don’t?

     report —

“Morris, according to a source, turned down a $41 million offer from the Clippers before pivoting to the Spurs and, eventually, the Knicks,”

Morris, who was coming off a four-year, $20 million contract he had vastly outperformed, entered free agency after things fell apart in Boston. Once Kyrie Irving decided to leave, Boston had to let Morris go to create the cap space necessary to bring in Kemba Walker.

It’s unclear how long the $41 million offer was, which may have played into its rejection. If the Clippers offered Morris a three-year deal, it would have started at just over $13 million, which would have still allowed the Kawhi Leonard and Paul George moves. According to Bondy, the Clippers turned to Moe Harkless after Morris rejected them.

From there, Morris and Paul committed to a two-year deal with the Spurs, which required them to trade Davis Bertans to clear cap space. The Knicks, meanwhile, and restructured Reggie Bullock’s contract and opened up more money, which was then offered to Morris. He reneged on the Spurs and took the Knicks one-year offer.

In any case, it’s pretty clear Rich Paul is a poor representative, solely out for himself.

Only possible explanation I could see is that Paul wanted to keep Morris available as a backup option for the lakers if they missed on kawhi. But that still seems like very poor negotiating if it’s true. Don’t blame him one bit for firing him.

I feel like there is a whole lot of assumptions going on here. Far as we know Paul could have dropped Morris after he bailed on the spurs and Paul wanted to save some of his reputation.

Not the first time for one of his clients.  He fumbled the deal for Kentavious Caldwell Pope too.
