BigChamp12ParticipantMiami’s hosting the Tar Heels today and are off to a 9-0 start! Im really looking forward to this game and seeing how McAdoo plays against Miami’s big bodies down low… Who do you guys have winning?

HaleParticipantThis is my first chance to see Miami so far this year and they are impressing. Kadji is a huge mismatch at this level. I wasn’t sure if these guys were for real, and I know UNC is in a down year but I’m starting to believe the hype.

JoeWolf1Kenny Kadji is a guy who’s gotten my attention lately in ACC play. I think he could be a 2nd rounder, he has the size and length to be an NBA player and a decent touch on his shot.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantI’m a fan of Kadji also, guys 6’11 with good athleticism, solid handles, and a very good perimeter game; it sucks that he’s 25 though

JoeWolf1Yeah, I don’t think it will hurt him in the late 2nd. I remember Vernon Macklin was 24 or 25 when he was drafted. I hear what you’re saying, though, it’s not going to help his stock rising much higher than 45 or 50.

R-Dot-13ParticipantIf Miami wins, you HAVE to consider them for #1 ranking right now.
Love their team, they are so impressive.0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/09/2013 - 10:14am #745943

HaleParticipantYeah McAdoo had better come back again because he’s not going in the 1st round this year.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantMcadoo not going in the first round? Come on man
0- Posted on: Sat, 02/09/2013 - 10:57am #745962

HaleParticipantWould you take him there?
Stats against Indiana, Miami x2, UNLV, NC State (top/ranked teams):
22/64 (34.4% FG) 12/20 FT (60%) 11.2 ppg 7.6 rpg 0.4 bpg 0.6 apg 2 topg

SiggyParticipantI think he’s still a first rounder, but closer to the early 20s than lotto.
IMO he’ll look better as a complementary, energy player, 3rd big. As a featured player he sucks.0- Posted on: Sat, 02/09/2013 - 11:11am #745974

HaleParticipantWould you suggest he comes back? I know he might be trying to ride the last wave of momentum he had from the off-season but next year it’s likely he’ll have to do less and he can focus on being more efficient. He needs another off-season of improvement anyway.
0- Posted on: Sat, 02/09/2013 - 11:23am #745978
SiggyParticipantDepends how he finishes the season. If he continues to fade vs good competition then his stock will continue to drop. The thing about McAdoo is that he can still be a mid first based on his hype, athleticism and pedigree. I certainly wouldn’t take him there, but that’s the nature of blue chippers. The hype can linger and still carry an underachieving player.
0- Posted on: Sat, 02/09/2013 - 11:25am #745981

HaleParticipantI agree with you that his stock change, I just don’t think it’s likely. With two games left against Duke, a game left against NC State and then the conference tourney/possible NCAA tourney I don’t see him bringing his stock up by the end of the year.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantBased on how weak this class is and the fact he has standout physical tools, yeah he’s worth a first round pick

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantWhere is Tokoto???? I cant stand Roy Williams playing these average players with no real potential, Except Paige and JMM, even tho hes average at best. Roy needs to play JP more and let him go
0- Posted on: Sat, 02/09/2013 - 10:47am #745954

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantTokoto is nowhere near ready to play big minutes, despite jumping out of the gym, what else can he do? He air balls threes for crying out loud.(I’m a UNC fan)
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/09/2013 - 10:53am #745960
SiggyParticipantTokoto is a below average player with no real skill. He looks pretty clueless too. All he is is a leaper.
The difference in toughness b/t these teams is striking. Miami is much better coached as well. Larranaga as an X’s and O’s guy >>> Roy Williams.
Shane Larkin already looks like the best PG in the ACC.
I guess there goes McAdoo’s momentum. All that needed to happen was for the ‘Heels to play a team with a competent frontcourt and he’s back to throwing up bricks. .net’s next updated mock should reflect that. He’s not a lotto player.

BJennings91ParticipantI bet miami’s players are “well-compensated” for thier recent success

rickybobbyParticipantI honestly think Roy is doing a terrible job coaching this years team. Pj deserves to be starting, and if not starting 20+ minus everynight. With a team that struggles to score especially against good teams you cant have two guys in the starting lineup who cant score in Hubert and Strickland. And then dont play your top bench scorers PJ and Brice Johnson a good amount of minutes to try and offset this.
Tokoto got alot of potential as a defensive stopper and slasher but he also doesnt get many minutes. Like i said before if this team is going to be any where near as good as it can be Roy is going to have to stop being so stubborn and get guys who deserve it more minutes. I think the way he has coached this team so far has taking away the potential of what they could have been.
In today’s game PJ keep us around alittle bit, but to start the second half McDonald,Simmons,James, all came off the bench before he did. I think Roy is trying to keep PJ under wraps to insure he comes back next year but it’s really hurting this years group, and if he plays anywhere near good during the ACC and NCAA tournament he gone for sure because of the way he’s been treated so far.

Malik-UniversalParticipantam I the only one who didn’t have Miami going 10-0 in acc play as far at the beginning of the season?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 02/09/2013 - 7:11pm #746059
ncballerUNC fan here. Those dogging Tokoto are you serious???
When he is aggressive the guy is a STUD. His ugly jumper from mid-range is money, he has great handles, and is an AWESOME passer. Good things happen when he is aggressive.
What I am absoulutely baffled at is why Strickland starts and plays more than 5 min a game. The guys stats in ACC games are the following:
FG — 17 for 54…a little over 30%.
3 PT FG — ZERO for 2
FT — 15 for 24…62.5%PPG — 4.9 (ONE game in double figures)
RPG — 2.1
APG — 3.2
SPG — 1.0 (Steals)in 27 min. a game.
Meanwhile guys like PJ, McDonald and Tokoto are on the bench and play less.
Roy has really lost his head this season. This is a very underachieving team and it’s because he is not playing to the strengths of this team. The rotation should be:
PG Paige 30 min./Strickland 5 min./Tokoto 5 min. (Yes Tokoto can play the 1)
SG Bullock 30 min./McDonald 8 min./Tokoto 2 min.
SF Hairston 30 min./McDonald 8 min./Tokoto 2 min.
PF McAdoo 27 min./Johnson 7 min./Tokoto 7 min.
C James 15 min./Johnson 13 min./ Hubert 12 min.0- Posted on: Sun, 02/10/2013 - 10:51am #746205
BigChamp12Participanta thumbs up because I like your rotational breakdown and the minutes they should play

akhan786ParticipantWhenever Roy doesn’t have the exact player personnel that he likes, Carolina will struggle.
Unfortunately, unless they get Wiggins, next year is looking pretty bleak as well. However, the year after that in my opinion Carolina could be dominant again with Joel Berry coming to town.
For all the flak Roy gets for not winning when he has overwhelming talent, you can’t deny the fact that when he does have that kind of talent he is absolutely dominant.
0- Posted on: Sat, 02/09/2013 - 7:28pm #746063

HaleParticipantDefine bleak. Will they be making a run for a NC? I doubt it, but I think they’ll be pretty good next year (depending on who stays). Losing Strickland is probably a good thing because it frees up more time for some other guys. If JMM and Bullock come back they’ll be really deep, if not neither are indispensable. They have a really nice recruiting class coming in and I expect this freshman class to take a big step up next year. Johnson, Tokoto and James have shown promise and I think Paige will get a lot better just from watching film of this year.
