With around 10 mins left in the game, Vasquez is near perfect, 8-9 from the field, 2-2 from the FT line, 10 assist, 4 steals, and 0 turnover.. I think this kid is going to win MIP, even though there’s alot of candidate, I think he’s the one who should get it.. Watching him play at Maryland, I really felt he could become a solid NBA player, now im convinced!

    Memphis Grizzlies PG draft history

1997 1 4 Daniels, Antonio USA PG Indian Hills Junior College
1998 1 2 Bibby, Mike USA PG Arizona
1999 1 2 Francis, Steve USA PG Maryland (traded to Houston)[d]
2001 1 27 Tinsley, Jamaal USA PG Iowa State (from New York,[g] traded to Atlanta)[h]
    2001 2 33 Solomon, Will USA PG/SG Clemson
2003 1 13 Banks, Marcus USA PG UNLV (from Houston,[d] traded to Boston)[i]
2006 1 24 Lowry, Kyle USA PG Villanova
2007 1 4 Conley, Jr., Mike USA PG Ohio State
    2010 1 28 Vasquez, Greivis Venezuela PG/SG Maryland (from L.A. Lakers)
    2011 2 49 Selby, Josh USA PG/SG Kansas
2012 1 25 Wroten, Tony USA PG Washington

The Griz seem to hit on drafting starting caliber PG’s more often then not. They also end up trading them. Moral of the story? If your trading for a Griz drafted PG, your usually getting a decent piece.

There a few of us that were quite high on him and thought he was a good pick for a 28th pick. He put up good numbers at Maryland but was never very high on mock drafts.

I thought he might be a 6th or 7th man, but not only is starting but is also putting up great stats and has exceeded any expectation I had from him. He is currently 3rd in the league with 9.3 assists. I am happy he is doing so well….

He might even lead the league in Assist, since rondo’s out, it’s prolly between him and CP3

Someone said it in a thread yesterday but I agreed that Vasquez is one of the most underrated players in the league.

I’m man enough to admit when I’m wrong. So, here goes. Ahem- I was wrong about Vasquez. I just didn’t think his inefficient offense would translate well to the NBA. He obviously has grown as a player, worked on his shot selection and is doing a damn good job. Mea Culpa.
