knicksfreakParticipantDo any other Knicks fans think we should try the “Gerald Green Experiment”? I’m not ready to give up on him and think he could be a stud in this system. It would probably only take a one year min contract since he hasnt found a home and that what he got last year from Dallas who dont seem to be in love with him.

NYK2010ParticipantCan’t hurt for a year minimum contract he’ll probably play a lot if Hughes gets hurt again.

Knicksboy34ParticipantYea. I think at this point, he needs someone in his ear to walk him through the process of the NBA. He is crazy athletic but he needs a mentor…he is a lazy player man.
I think i would give him a 2 year, 2 mil contract (team opt for a 3rd year)

knicksfreakParticipantYeah and we probably wont re-sign Nate who got alot of minutes at the 2.. If it pans out then the Knicks could look like geniuses and I’d be calling up Donnie for a job as a scout. haha

RemarqParticipantIt depends on what he costs, but if they can get him for a year why not. Play him instead of Hughes, lose a ton games, clear cap space, draft John Wall, Sign Lebron/Bosh whomever, win championship. JK 🙂 … sort of.

Knicksboy34ParticipantI think he’s only like 22-23.
Man, bring him in the system, have him work on D and shooting
He could be a diamond in the ruff…..

gatorheelsParticipantI like Gerald Green he has potential. He just hasn’t been giving much of a chance. You guys are right he could thrive in that offense. Worth a shot if you can sign him cheap which seems to be the case.

mb6297He reminds me of J.R. Smith… who was pretty immature and lazy when he played for New Orleans. Eventually he grew up and now is very solid on the Nuggets (should start next year).
The major difference is that J.R. had a real good jumpshot coming into the NBA. If Green doesn’t improve his shooting, I can’t see him amounting to much.

knicksfreakParticipantHe is a decent one on one defender and gets alot of blocks for a guard too. He isnt weak anywhere in his game. He just needs to buckle down and I think success in this system could breed confidence. He was special until Boston shipped him to Minnesota. I still sometimes look up his baseline drive monster dunk from his rookie season at Boston. I think he averaged 19 7 and 3 for a while when Pierce was injured his rookie season.

knicksfreakParticipanti think he could have a breakout season similar to what Von Wafer did for the Rockets. Just needs to find a home.

knicksfreakParticipantI wish we could bomb the season to get Wall but we dont have a pick next year thanks to Isiah.

birdman1113Participanti think a lot of teams would take green at the minimum youll have to pay a little more to get him.

knicksfreakParticipantNobody chased him down last year.

johnecoParticipantHe’s only 23, and dirt cheap.
To the user above who said he’s a bad shooter, I disagree. He shot something crazy like 6of7 3pointers during the McDonald’s game. And he’s 36% career for 3s in the NBA, in spotty minutes, and a good foul shooter. And of course he’s a phenomenal athlete with a 40 inch vertical who can dunk it. I think his problem is supposed to be everything in between, especially when he’s in motion, he doesn’t pass and chucks up bad difficult shots or loses the ball. I haven’t seen him play much, can those who have paint his bad side?0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 11:58am #158609

knicksfreakParticipantI’ve seen him take bad shots and ball hog a little bit. It looks like he does it because he’s trying so hard to prove himself in his limited minutes. Every team he’s been on has put him in to defend the opponents best 1, 2 or 3 offensive weapon. He is a good defender due to his great size and quickness. I play very close attention to him and thats why I cant believe he hasnt done more. He doesnt get an opportunity. I buy NBA league pass so I can keep tabs on him. I ended up watching whole Minnesota or Houston or Dallas games without getting a chance to see him play. He has shown he can shoot, dunk, defend, block in the past. All of his bad habits seem to come from inexperience and desire to shine.

Knicksboy34ParticipantI think Donnie Walsh and Dantoni can help him….
I would tell him this a last stop unless you change…
would i be wrong if i said get someone like Steve Smith ( random huh?) to mentor him
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:03pm #158612

knicksfreakParticipantI think Herb Williams or Kenny Atkinson can set him straight.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:06pm #158613
jcl249ParticipantHe did not get playing time because Dallas already had mismatches at PF, SG, and we didn’t need another one at SF. He can sore like crazy but its not worth it when he scores 20 but gives up 31.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:08pm #158614

Knicksboy34ParticipantI like Herb Williams…we need to get someone to teach this man D as well.
But i think he would listen to a “successful” NBA player like Steve Smith or Mitch Richmond more…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:09pm #158616

knicksfreakParticipantI doubt they bring in somebody else for him. Allan Houston is the Assistant to the President of Basketball Operations. He’s as good a mentor you can get for Gerald.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:12pm #158617

Knicksboy34ParticipantTrue…he can teach him how to do well early in his contract and sit on the rest and hurt his knees
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:12pm #158618

Knicksboy34ParticipantJK…but Allan Houston man…he killed us for years man….
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:17pm #158621

knicksfreakParticipantHis contract killed us but he is as good of a person and team player as you can get. He had one of the prettiest Jumpers in the game and always is a class act. His mentorship can help Gerald and he loves the Knicks. His contract did kill us for years but he did take a buyout instead of making us pay him against the cap for the rest of his contract.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:19pm #158623

knicksfreakParticipantWhat does the 34 stand for Knicksboy? Oakley or Curry?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:21pm #158624

Knicksboy34ParticipantI know…I think Allan is a good mentor. I think if we bring him in and work him hard, Green will give us results
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:27pm #158627

Knicksboy34ParticipantI wanted 33…so i took 34. 34 is Oakley. I should have used 3 or 10…i wasnt thinking….
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:31pm #158629

knicksfreakParticipantI didnt know if you were an old school fan of C-Oak or new school of Eddy. We need some of the toughness back that Oakley gave us. If you came into the lane, he’d knock you on your ass then stand over you. Then he’d let you pick yourself up.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 12:36pm #158631

Knicksboy34Participantexactly…but the NBA is getting softer so Oakley would have been suspended a couple of times..LOL
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 1:14pm #158646
jcl249ParticipantWould be perfect for the Knicks team since Dantoni doesn’t really think defense is important. Gerald could start for them when Green started for the mavs he had two double doubles he’s a bad defender but he’s a pretty good rebounder i mean who isn’t when you have his crazy ass hops.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/08/2009 - 1:16pm #158649

knicksfreakParticipantHe is an underrated defender.
