auberParticipantOut of the second Tier point guards (Curry,Flynn,Jennings,) in what order would you rate them on your big board? This isn’t about what position you would take them in, but how you as a GM would rate them with their pros and cons.

HaleParticipant1. Flynn
Pro: Fantastic athlete, record 40 inch vert, very good in up-tempo system, creative at finding teammates, great teammate, unlimited stamina, improving shooter, solid scorer, potential
Con: Size, inconsistent jump shot, might have some trouble playing D outside of a zone.2. Jennings
Pro: Amazing athlete, probably a better one then flynn, extremely quick, amazing vision for a young guard, yo-yo handle, pro experience
Con: Size, maybe too flashy, jump shot is weak, decision making3. Curry
Pro: Sharp Shooter, can create his own shot, underrated athlete, size if he plays pg, underrated all around scorer
Con: Size if sg, not sure about his defense, might have trouble getting into the lane, pg skills?0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/06/2009 - 8:01am #157540
deshawynkeys91Participantso do u only consider r.rubio a first tier pg in this draft?
and i think on a big board it would have to go:
1. j. flynn – nba strength, speed and athletism and is one of those guys ur never going to have to worry about effort/passion.
2. s. curry – looks like he has some t. prince/ r. miller strength and at worst will be a good spot up shooter in the league
3. b. jennings – may end up being the best of the group just as easy the worst and the likelyhood that he is even with the team that drafts him when he does figure things out in the league are slim.

auberParticipantYes I do. I just love rubios upside.

HaleParticipantDoesn’t Jennings have as good of an upside if not not better then Rubio though?

auberParticipantFrom what I’ve seen from Jennings and Rubio it’s enough to put Rubio ahead of them right now. I rank them; Rubio-Jennings-Flynn-Curry and I’m Syracuse biased from Flynn. From what I saw when Jennings and Rubio matched up you could just tell how much better he was than Jennings despite not showing it on the stat sheet. If anyone’s going to be better than Rubio this year though it’s going to be Jennings.

butidonthavemoneyJonny Flynn – He is scrappy and tough. He plays like he was huffing paint before the game but he his game is pretty effective. Will translate well to the NBA. Fast and athletic.
Brandon Jennings – His game is even more erratic than Flynn’s. There are questions about how effective he would have been in college. Will fit well on a team where he can have offensive freedom and not much pressure to succeed.
Stephen Curry – Great shooter, solid passer. Can create his own shot and is smart enough to know when to kick to a teammate. Like Jennings he will have to be in a good situation to be a good player. Would probably be in the running for ROY in New York but there is too many holes in his game to be great anywhere else. Less selfish/athletic Ben Gordon.

mb6297Brandon Jennings reminds me of a lot of Monta Ellis or Louis Williams, although he is a inch or two shorter than both.
Either way, all these guys had stellar high school careers. Williams and Ellis both were drafted in the 2nd round and were great “steals”. I think GMs are so high on Jennings because of his potential to be this type of player.

sheltwon3ParticipantHow are these guys second tiers. They all have a chance to be some of the top point guards in the league. Curry if he goes to the right team will put up Bibby type numbers. Jennings will be nice but it hard for me to gauge which way he will go as more scoring or more playmaking. It is hard to see that in the little he play overseas. Flynn could be like wow dude is really quick with mad hops. Rubio has more question marks than these players so how can they be second tiers.

butidonthavemoneyWould any team in the NBA take any of these players over Rubio?
