MUbballfanParticipantI have loved Beasley’s game since he entered the league and always thought he could be an All Star if he really put the effort in on the court, as well as staying out of trouble off the court. He was misused talent wise in Minnesota. Now that he is in Phoenix and will be a starter at his natural position of power forward, can he turn into the player everyone thought he could become? Put up 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds on 13-21 shooting last night vs Denver. Remember he’s only 23 years old.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantMichael Beasley is an amazing offensive talent but he wasn’t misused in Minnesota, he never played even average defense so it was hard to warrant him big minutes.

MUbballfanParticipantI agree he plays lackluster defense but with his offensive capability I think he could be a poor man’s Melo. I meant misused in Minny because when he did play last year he played at small forward most of the time which isnt his natural position, but I guess it was hard to give him PT at power forward when you have Kevin Love.

MUbballfanParticipantWell I watched the game and assumed Beasley was a SF but then the commentators said "this year he’ll be able to play at his natural position of power forward." I then assumed Scola was playing at small forward, even though I knew Scola was a power forward and more of post player than Beasley. Maybe it was a false assumption by me.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI think he wasnt used right in Miami..Mostly becuz of his poor work ethic & attitude..And the coaches didnt know what was his true position…In Minnesota he started to show some of the promise people felt he had when he came out of college..But once again he was immature,dealt with off the court issues and didnt want to play defense at all…
Phoenix style of play fits him well…I wont be surprise at all,if he leads the NBA in scoring this season…..

F_Sconsistency is greatness.
b-ez way too inconsistent to lead the league in scoring. he’s guy that can drop 25p then 13p then 4p then 19p then 26p then 8p.
never the less, he has a very nice offensive skill set.

apb540ParticipantThis does not sound like the kind of a player that I want on my team.
I think that Beasley has a great opportunity to prove himself in Phoenix. He has little to no competition for getting looks on offense or stealing minutes, so no excuses will be present. After seeing him put up 19 and 5.5 with shooting splits of 45/36/75, no reason to think he can’t do 20-22 and 6-7 on similar splits and improved defense.

baggin13ParticipantIf he starts he will start at the three,the have Scola at the four spot. He may get some time at four, but he will most likely be gaurding threes.

Chilbert arenasParticipantYou beat me to it, it was just writing how he won’t be starting at the power forward with Scola on the roster, and they’ll have Morris as the back up at the 4. I’m a Suns fan and hope Beasley kills but I’m just expecting low shooting percentages from him and maybe some bonehead plays along the way.

TallmanNYCParticipantI only saw the highlights, but in the highlights he was hitting 20 footers and tough fade away jumpers from 15 feet. In other words, it looked like typical bad shot selection night for Beasely, just on this night they went in. Beasley can’t hit long jumpers consistently. If he could, he would be Carmelo Anthony.
And the dude only shot 13 for 21, so he got 29 points on a night where he took a huge number of shots. Well that is a good night but nothing too special. Certainly not something that we didn’t already know he could do. And it should be very disturbing to the Suns that Beasely took 21 shots and didn’t once go to the free throw line. That is actually kind of amazing. Maybe the refs were tough on him. But you need to draw some fouls to play consistently winning basketball.
This is like Nate Robinson going for 20+ last night. Is anyone impressed? No, we know he can do that. If he gets his PT he gets his points. We’ve seen him do it before. It isn’t like this means Nate is going to be an All Star.
