lakeshow22ParticipantWhat is Kenneth Faries upside and potential? Will he ever be an All Star? Can he one day lead the league in Rebounding?
With Al Harington now gone Faried should be locked to get around 35 minutes a night so what stats do you see him averaging? I see around 13ppg 12rpg and 1.3 block

TallmanNYCParticipantThat seems about right. His per 36 production was a little higher than that in points and blocks, but he will be playing more minutes against starters this year. But it will be tough for him to score enough points to catch Griffin and Love. Gasol is on the Lakers and they will win a ton of games. So that is three forwards right there. Howard is a lock as a "frontcourt" player, so there isn’t a lot of room left for All Star and three of those guys are young.
I doubt he can lead league in rebounding, but he should be top 5 or there abouts. He does everything I want out of a PF. I can’t think of too many I’d take over him right now.

FORGETABOUTITParticipantYeah I think those numbers look right in my mind too. I’m not sure he’ll ever lead the L in rebs but he’ll be right up there for the next 7 or 8 years imo.

JoeWolf1I think a better picture of the rebounding Faried will get would be to look at all his games in which he played 29 minutes or more…close to starters minutes. In those games, a 10 game pool, he averaged 9.6 rebounds per game. That translates to 11.52 rpg for 36 minutes.
Since Faried only played 23 minutes per game, a 36 mpg estimate, I felt, would be too inflated. I think Faried playing starters minutes will be close to the 11.5 rpg I projected. I doubt he’ll ever lead the league in rebounding, but I love the guy as a player. I could see him putting up 14.5 ppg (Denver runs a lot and he’s good trailing the break) 11.5 rpg 1 block and 1 steal per game.

benny15Participantone thing im wondering is even though minutes were cleared up for him by removing Al Harrington, Mozgov, McGee and Koufus also deserve time on the floor and i think that would force them to utilize McGee as a PF at times. from what ive read and heared, the nuggets are happy with all their returning bigs from last season and george karl will even try to see if he can make Anthony Randolph thrive consistently, so thats a lot of big men splitting 96 minutes worth of PT. thats not even counting if and when they will go small utilizing wilson chandler as a small four.
i think the starter minutes he got last year of 29 is more accurate, or maybe 30 mpg, theres just so much depth on the nuggets team, its hard to predict who will be getting most of the floor time.
5 on 5 scrimages on practice must be great to watch with denver. lets say Mozgov-Faried-Gallinari-Iguodala-Lawson as a starting unit playing against Koufus-McGee-Chandler-Brewer-Miller.

Mr. 19134Participant@JoeWolfe I remenber before the draft 2 years ago I was hyping up Kenneth Faried as a freakish hustle player similar Ben Wallace and Dennis Rodman only Faried knew how to score on offense and you kept telling me you like Faried but he can’t score, is undersized, and is nothing more then an energy player. I thought he should of been an easy late lottery pick that last year and was adament that Faried was going to prove to be a better scorer then people realized and size wouldn’t be an issue with him.
I just had to bring that up just to point how underrated Faried was coming into the league last year.
With that said I’m gonna stand by my original predictions and still say Faried has the ability to average 16 and 12 based on his minutes. Faried is a better scorer then given credit for and his speed in Denver’s system allow him to get a ton of easy baskets in transition.
But Faried also has incredible hands and feet which allow him to catch passes in the post-spin and elevate before the defense can react.
Faried may never be an All Star but he should turn into a double-double machine that’ll be able to average anywhere from 14-16 ppg too.

JoeWolf1I’ve always liked him, so I doubt I was hating on him for being undersized, but I did undershoot him. I remember comparing him to Malik Rose, who similarly lead the NCAA in rebounding for Drexel, and carved out a nice role in the NBA. I had been big on him as a late 1st rounder since his Jr. year, but I will admit, I didn’t think he’d be this good so early. I had him pegged as a 10/7 player down the road, like M.Rose….not his rookie year
Good call, Mr. 19134.

Mr. 19134ParticipantAfter watching a few Morehead st. games I became Faried was going to be a force in the league and this is one of the many threads in which I hyped him up.
http://www.nbadraft.net/forum/kenneth-faried-0
In like 2 years I’m gonna start pulling back threads arguing with people who thought/think Kendell Marshall is better then Tony Wroten.
I’m also half tempted to bring back threads where I said Isaih Thomas was the best passer and one of the elite PGs in the NCAA 2 years ago.
I mention this just to remind people nothing is 100% accurate and what one guy see’s in a player another guy may see something completely different.
And never underestimate players who have a ridiculous work out ethic or just insane natural gifts. In this years draft guys like Drummond, Wroten, Perry Jones, Moultrie, and Quincy Miller fell way to far in the draft.

JoeWolf1Mr. 19134, It goes both ways. If we’re digging up old arguements….
Remember when I was picking James Harden over Evan Turner in 2010 and stating he’d be a 15, 5 and 5 player in a different system? You kept insisting Turner was the better player? haha
I’ve been a Harden supporter from day 1, and he was a 16, 4 and 4 player as soon as he got his 30 mpg.

Mr. 19134Participant@JoeWolfe
I know you know your basketball I never doubted that, I just love the art of predicting. And it is an art.
But the Turner/Harden debate is far from finished. Harden is a beast no doubt about it. Most of Harden’s success is because of 2 things Turner lacks too, Harden is a great outside shooter, and has a massive 6’11 wingspan for a SG which enables him to finish in traffic so well. Turner doesn’t have great range and has a mediocre wingspan based on his height.
This year tho both Turner and Harden are going to be looked at as leaders in drastically different settings. I fully expect Turner to thrive without Iggy around and start filling up stat sheets, and continuing to play stellar defense. Harden should become a 20ppg scorer but might lose some efficiency.
