After seeing measurements and combine results how do you now feel about this years draft class.

    Terrible
    Weak
    Average
    Decent
    Great

For me I think It’s a decent draft class. I think it will take people by surprise. I was with most of you dreading this draft, but I’m really anticipating it now and hoping for the best instead of looking at the worst.

I think the drafts have gotten worse and worse over the years. I think mediocre freshman go into the draft to get the money while they can, instead of staying in college and getting better. A couple million in the second round, sounds a lot better than sitting in classes, and not getting paid. A lot of the players that are coming out could stay another year and get much better.

I thought last year’s draft was one of the better one’s in recent years, so I’m not ready to say they are getting worse and worse. This year does seem a little weak to me. After Griffin, I just see so many question marks with just about everyone. I think a lot of the players that are coming out early are doing so because they know this is one of the weaker drafts.

This years draft wouldnt have been this weak if expected one and done freshmen Aminu, Monroe, and Davis came out. Plus if Jennings went to college we could’ve been raving about him. Aldrich too.

My point was that if you look at the drafts back in the 80s where basically no one came out early, there were a lot more players that played 10+ years, instead of a lot of the players now being a dud and sitting on the bench for their entire career. (Eddie Griffin, Dajuan Wagner, Kwame Brown, Jonathan Bender, Darko Milicic etc)

I would rate this draft as Weak in terms of players making an impact in the next 2 years, but Average eventually, bc there’s a chance that there may be 3+ all-stars in this class.

Players going to college for 3-4 years doesn’t increase the talent pool, but it does make scouting a lot easier and less of a crapshoot. Of course, a 4-year college player will be more ready to play significant minutes than a player right out of HS. But the amount of quality prospects doesn’t change as a whole, everything just moved forward a couple of years. Except for a couple of really barren years when a lot of great prospects declared right after HS, and so the college talent pool suffered.

In the end, NBA GM’s and young prospects just have to be very diligent in their decisions. Blake Griffin could’ve possibly been a first round pick last year and gotten paid earlier, but now he’s the consensus number one.

What about everyone saying that Austin Daye needs to go back to school and develop more? For the most part, scouts are gonna know how good an elite player is gonna be after his freshman year in college.

I think at first a lot of people, including myself were down on this draft, but in the recent weeks Ive come to realize that it will be a very solid draft. There wont be the star power that some of the past drafts have but I think this draft offers a whole lot of depth. And you still have some high upside guys like DeRozan and Jennings, who, if they pan out, could make this draft even better than most people thought.

Theyre arent enough guys that are guaranteed contributors..you have Griffin, then you have guys like Gerald Henderson,DeJuan Blair, and Tyler Hansbrough were you know what they will do, but you dont know if its good enough to stand out. This class seems like it will have a lot of role players, but that was said about quite a few classes (04-06) and they have all produced all-stars and other deserving players..you never know

I would say average or decent. This draft has a lot of long term potential, just not so much short term. DeRozan, Holiday, Evans, Rubio, Thabeet are all projects in some way and could be great in the future.

i would say weak, only because the top 5 picks arnt very strong, however i think this draft is deep with role player type talent going well into the early second round. I dont see alot of difference between 11 and 40. Budinger-adrien
