Raef LaFrentzParticipantLooked really solid coming off screens and stopping on a dime to get his shot off. And he still has that uncanny ability to get to anywhere he needs to on the floor as well.

NbanflguyParticipantWere you at the game?
0- Posted on: Wed, 10/10/2012 - 4:49pm #719694

Raef LaFrentzParticipantYeah I was. I went to NDSU for my first two years of college before transferring to the University of Minnesota. But yeah, I was up visiting some friends and we decided to go to the game.

NbanflguyParticipantThats awesome. I am a junior at the U of MN right now. Would love to hear how we looked, when ever you got time.
Looking at the box score it looks like Budinger had a good game.

Raef LaFrentzParticipantSure thing.
Starters:
Love: He looked kind of sluggish right out of the gate and wasn’t "on" at all throughout the game most likely due to sporadic minutes, etc. He was knocking everything down in warmups though, and looked to have a little better lift when dunking too, which was nice to see.
Kirilenko: His statline is underwhelming, but I honestly can’t find anything bad about the game he played tonight other than his missed FT’s. He can really run the floor and find the open man (pretty slick passer, I might add). He defended very well and even dove on the floor a few times and came away with some loose balls. Not somethine we saw much out of the Wolves last season, eh?
Pekovic: Had trouble with Hibbert’t length right off the bat, but then simply got into him the rest of the game and used his girth to get easy buckets. Showed a quick one/two dribble right-handed runner in the lane that seems to be new to his repertoire also. Still is built like a brick sh!thouse.
Roy: Like I said before, had a good showing off the ball tonight coming off screens and moving along the baseline. Handled the ball very well and really didn’t make any mistakes, typical Roy. Still not quite their conditioning-wise though, in my opinion.
Barea: The pesky little guy had a decent night on offense but he doesn’t run the team anything close to the way Ricky does.
Bench Notables:
Williams: All of his points came in the first have (8 in the 2nd I think). Looks a little slimmer and threw down some nasty pre-game dunks to pump up the crowd. Needs to attack the rim more and be more aggressive because he’s usually quicker than every PF covering him or stronger than every SF.
Budinger: Shved and him have a good connection, finding eachother for open shots pretty often. Good set shooter, and also showed off his springs in warm-ups.
Shved: Looked a little sheepish tonight, but played well defensively getting up into his man. Doesn’t make normal passes, only no-lookers. Haha.
Stiemsma: Swatted a Pendergraph dunk attempt with two hands that left Pendergraph on his back.

NbanflguyParticipantThanks man. I see that the Pacers shot under 40%. Were we playing great defense or was it just early preseason rust?
0 - Posted on: Wed, 10/10/2012 - 5:20pm #719700

Raef LaFrentzParticipantThey were missing Granger, West, and Hill – which must’ve hurt. They looked pretty rusty, especially Hibbert who was having all kinds of trouble with Pek.
They seemed to foul a hell of a lot too, which never let them get out and run on us. Our defense was definitely solid though, and we had better rotations than we ever did last year.

NbanflguyParticipantThanks for the info man. ha you sound like you would be a solid scout. Cant wait for this season

Raef LaFrentzParticipantI would love to scout, as I’m sure like every kid on here would. Haha. This season can’t come soon enough!

LipstickParticipantYou mean 14 points lol. Still, wish I would’ve made the trip. Five hour nap was more important, I guess. Jelly of all those that got to see them up close.
