JordansBullsParticipantI think people underestimate how LeBron is going to take things to another level now that the monkey is off his back. He went through unbelievable media scrutiny from the day he entered the league with the pressure to win a ring.
Now that he has one, and can just have FUN playing the game, he is going to DESTROY opponents. You just wait and see.

BenchWarmerParticipantIYou do know what a pep rally is right? Lebron wasn’t promising that many championships. He was getting an entire city excited, and he did. There is certainly pressure but I think there is certainly less pressure considering what he’s been through, with “the decision” and stinking up the finals in 2011 after playing great in previous rounds.

Charlie SheenParticipantduh I kow it was a pep rally so Pat Riley in 87 saying we’re gonna win it all again next year at the Championship parade was just getting everyone excited fuck that
LeBron needs at least 3 rings to be taken seriously as an All-Time Great

omphalosParticipantYou might find he plays worse without that drive to achieve his goal. Before this season he had one clear goal: get a ring. Now the finish-line becomes a lot less clear, how many rings does he need to win? What is the number that drives him?
Pressure can cause cracks, but it can also make diamonds. The point is that he might not be the same player without that external pressure, similar to Dirk’s dropoff last season. Lebron has never struck me as the particularly competitive type, I’m not sure if he has it in him to sustain that level of effort without the immediate reward of winning his first ring.
It takes a special type of competitor to sustain that level of intensity, to find motivation within themselves now that they’ve met the expectations of others.

TallmanNYCParticipantFor Lebron it depends on if he realizes that he has to get in the post. If he doesn’t, then he won’t necessarily win championships. Lebron taking 20 foot jumpers might win the Chip and it might not. Lebron backing down guys and taking 5 footers or drawing double teams for Ray Allen or Chalmers to shoot a wide open three is unstoppable. If he and Spo realize that he needs to play PF (or at least tries to score like a PF on offense), then the team becomes unstoppable. I’m not sure if he gets it. Remember in the Olympics he took (and made) a key three. If he needs a key bucket, he should be going to the basket. So I’m not sure if either he didn’t learn his lesson, or he didn’t think he needed that in the Olympics, or if he just wants to make the game harder for himself so he trys to make buckets from long range.

billykParticipantOf course Lebron will be motivated, how can you be the best player in the world and not be ultra competitive.. He seems to be a student if the game and so it’s safe to assume he knows what he needs to accomplish to be considered an ALL TIME GREAT… I believe we might be witness to the reign of King James for the next 3 years…

BigChamp12ParticipantWhy do people focus so much on Lebron saying that phrase? He didn’t guarantee that they will win 7 or more rings… He only said thats what they want to do. He said they didn’t want only 1 ring. Now everybody swears he said They WILL win 7 rings. Wow!

aamir543ParticipantGuys, there will always be pressure to get more, to live up to the standard that we have held guys by names of Kobe, Jordan, Shaq, ect……. however that monkey is off his back. Even if he never wins another championship again he can retire in peace knowing that he at least got one piece of hardware. Now for him to live up to the hype in general he’s gonna need three before he hangs ’em up to have himself in the top 7 All-Time. He’s already headed for top 10, but he’s gonna need more to be known as one of the greatest to have ever played the game.
But he will definatly be more free, we’ll see him smiling more, I think he’ll be so dominant driving to the hoop teams will have to play him like they do Rondo, and thats not good because he’s a much better jumpshooter than Rondo is.

MUbballfanParticipantMaybe no pressure is a bad thing for some people, it can take your eyes off the prize.

druneave3ParticipantHave you not been watching the last several years?
He has been dominating. Historic numbers. Takes over games whenever. Best player on the floor by leaps and bounds for years now. He just now has talent around him to win championships.
