For_Never_EverParticipantA man being 7’4, athletic and skilled. If he had stayed healthy, they really could have taken over the 80s. Ralph and Hakeem maybe would have been the best big man duo ever.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantLately ive heard alot of people say Ralph Sampson doesnt belong in the Hall of Fame..But i think thats a bunch of BS!! He could’ve gotten in on his college career alone…Injuries was the only thing that held back from being a 1st Ballot Hall of Famer….
Sampson was the nba’s most anticipated rookie since Kareem ..In fact he had more pressure on him as a rookie than Lebron James ..Mostly becuz back then fans & media felt that only a dominant center could lead teams to championship…
Sampson didnt have a signature go to move like Kareem or Olajuwon…But i heard Chris Webber & Vlade Divac said his play on the perimeter ,made them expand their games….

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI dont think he was an Underachiever..You’re not an Underachiever when You:
1.Are Named NBA Rookie of the year..
2.Named an All-Star 4 times
3.Made 2nd team All-NBA
4.Helped lead your team to the finals..
5.Revolutionized the game for big men…
6.Averaged a Double-Double as a Rookie…And 20 & 10 for your 1st 4 years in the league….
7.Named All-Star Game MVP
Injuries were his biggest foe…Sometimes i wonder how things might’ve been if he had came out as a jr. when the Lakers had the 1st pick..I enjoyed watching replays of that All-Star when him and Magic Continued to connect play after play..

Bad DogParticipantRalph "no knees" Sampson was an amazing player. A first of his kind really. Sampson was hyped up all the way back to high school. His was the best in what some consider to be the greatest high school class ever (Worthy, Wilkins, Clark Kellog just to name a few). It’s not often you see a 7’4 230 ponud player bringing the ball up court. In a way that’s actually what may have contributed to his injuries though. Players that tall with that type of frame shouldn’t be playing like they are a guard. Too bad things happened the way they did. If Sampson wouldn’t have had injuries the Lakers may not have won all those titles in the 80’s.
