What do u think about this trade proposal. marvin is restricted FA who the hawks are looking into trading and kaman is a surplus big for the clips due to griffin. the hawks need a true center like kaman and the clippers need another wing man. the hawks could do a sign and trade for williams and then trade him to the clippers for kaman. maybe add in acie law to make the salaries match up better.

If they could unload Kaman’s contract, thin their crowded frontcourt and get a talented player in return then they have to pull the trigger.

I’m not sure the Hawks would take Kaman, as they were very reluctant to sign Josh Smith last summer and Kaman has a bigger contract than Smith signed.

You’re right. Smith is about 11 mil a year for the next (gulp) four years. Kaman is about 11 mil for the next three years.

That would be a hell of a trade. The Hawks have a logjam at the 3 and 4 positions because Marvin, Josh, are the possible 3s and Horford and Josh are possible 4s. If that trade works out, it moves everyone back to their natural positions. Horford is not a Center and even though Josh Smith cant shoot he can work on it. Marvin worked on his jumpshot all summer and it showed. This would also leaves the Hawks in a great position to draft a guard since Acie Law IV isnt looking like their guard of the future. I personally like Teague at 19. He owned Lawson, he’s quick too, he can penetrate, something Bibby left in Sacramento, and his can dish some. At this point he’s more a combo, but if you let him play and keep defenses honest, then other teams cant double Joe. Possible Starting Lineup for next year

    PG-Bibby, Teague, Law?
    SG-Johnson, Murray
    SF-Smith, Evans
    PF-Horford, Hunter,(FA) Bass?
    C-Kaman, Zaza

That would give the Hawks a strong 2nd Unit that they desperately need.

I like Sessions a lot also. The Bucks have Ridnour locked up and already have to sign Charlie. I think we can throw some money at Sessions and steal him away like we did Zaza from them. He would be great because he doesnt command a huge salary and is proven. He had 24 assists in a game in his rookie season. If we could sign him and trade for Kaman, I think we move into that upper-echelon of teams in the East with Cle, Orl, and Bos. And theyre younger

i just dont think trading marvin williams is the best thing to do he is improving and is only 22 he has to much upside
i say just try to get okur he is a quality big and can strech the floor with his 3 pt shooting

Sessions is going to cost a fortune as a back up point guard this kids got serious skills, but skiles refuses to play him over a gutless luke ridnour. If you do the kaman trade I only like the idea of a dump. Marvin williams is not a reserve player in this league, but resigning him isnt something in their future. He’d be a nice player to complement thorton and griffen though, but thats not how I’d play him.

I like this trade if there wasn’t such a financial burden on the Hawks. But I would still take Okur over Kaman but do you think the Jazz will lose both Boozer and Okur?

i think we could still get memo but seriously trading marvin is not the way
if we can get sessions and memo were already better then we can use the draft to add even more pieces

    1. I dont think the Bucks will sign Villanueva and let Sessions walk. If they dont resign both (which Im 99.9% sure wont happen) they would only keep Sessions. So I dont think the Hawks will get Sessions.

    2. Marvin Williams for Chris Kaman is a huge win for the Hawks in my opinion. Kaman would solve a problem area for the Hawks, while getting rid of a player that is apart of a crowded wing position 4 the Hawks. The Hawks have too many players that play the same position.

    3. They need to trade up and get JONNY FLYNN!!! He would change everything and get the Hawks to the next level

Sessions and Memo would be a really good off-season for the Hawks. They will have to watch Bibby and Pachulia walk though.

The preferred trade would be Childress (RFA) and Speedy Claxton’s expiring contract ($5 mil) for Kaman.

its a win win for both teams because the clips have a log jam at the 4/5 and the hawks do at 3/4. the clips need a wing the hawks need a real center.

Yeah it could be good for both teams.

What kind of contract do you think Williams will get?

    24 million over 4 years?

i think the hawks would prefer to keep marvin as his shooting is improving adding another dimension to his game…

and it wouldn’t fill any needs for the clippers, al thornton’s much better shooter and athlete than marvin williams.

kaman would fit the hawks game though, but i dont see the clips pulling a deal like this.

the clips need a wing off the bench. all we have is fred jones and steve novak off the bench there. well and ricky davis but he sucks so…

I really think Sund (Hawks GM) will be very hesitant to part with Marvin.

I also really think the Clips would be hesitant to acquire a bench player who probably will take $9 mil to sign.

Again, Childress fits the role you’ve described, and there are indications that he’s ready to come back to the US. He still wouldn’t be cheap–he turned down $7 mil-per last off-season to go to Greece, but he and his salary would make more sense.

    ~ATL gets Chris Kaman
~LAC gets rights to Josh Childress, Speedy Claxton’s expiring contract, Acie Law, and the #19 pick.
