KHAM83ParticipantDraftExpress: Derrick Williams is a good reminder of how fickle perceived value can be at times. One year ago he was untouchable. Today he’s trade bait DraftExpress: Their stance is he went #2 last year so offering him for #2 this year is fair. RT @sorokman Why did Minnesota even bother to ask Charlotte? DraftExpress: Derrick Williams has been shopped to different NBA teams dating back to the trade deadline. Asking price way too high according to teams. Should Bobcats consider moving #2 pick for Williams? Walker-Williams combo sounds good.

Jason_GrayParticipantI’m assuming you mean a straight up trade. Williams is not worth the #2 pick this year. They can draft a player at #2 who’s going to probably be better than Williams. Williams is still a tweener. He played good sometimes but not enough to warrant being traded for the #2 overall pick this year. They could trade down to as low as 12 and still get a quality player.
And I don’t like the Walker-Williams dynamic. Williams is going to need a pg who can create to better showcase his skill set in the NBA.

DolanCareParticipantTrading Derrick Williams for this year’s #2 pick will never happen. That being said, I could Charlotte being interested in a prospect like Williams with his rookie contract, just for a smaller price. We barely got to see what Williams can do with consistent minutes and be featured in an offensive system. No player wants to be in Charlotte, but I would enjoy seeing Williams playing first fiddle as a Bobcat. It’s a selfish wish, but I want to see what Williams can do before we write him off as a rotational player.

220ParticipantDerrick Williams is too young and too talented to merely be a backup for the Wolves and the Wolves have other needs at this point. Unless Williams becomes a capable small forward, I wouldn’t be surprised seeing him be dealt.
