Carmelo says his time to win a championship is coming and that it could be next year or the year after.  I’ll just keep all comments to myself.  What are the chances Carmelo wins a title in the next 2 years?  I’ll give him a 0.7 % chance, and that’s generous.

Slim to none. Id still put them behind the Heat, Bulls, Thunder, and probably the Lakers.

Too many variables… The main one being that they are able to trade Amare. That dynamic just doesn’t work. They both are basically the same player. Can’t win a championship with that.

So I give it 1%.  Nobody wants Amare, Amare’s knee, or Amare’s contract…

Honestly depending on what the Celtics do they could be an impressive Eastern Conference team this year. Sadly they will always have to face the juggernaughts known as the Heat and Pacers, that alone will be a challenge in itself. Then you consider that Melo has only been to the finals one other time, perhaps he doesn’t have the experience to lead the Knicks past the finals? Not quite sure. I’d give him a 37% chance, why? I like that number. Sadly I seriously doubt they can get past the Heat and Pacers any year. Just don’t see it happening.

His time came and past in the spring of 2003. Unless he changes his allaround game I don’t see it happening.

" juggernaughts known as the Heat and Pacers "  didn’t know Pacers were that good.

You never know how they could shake up that team, but Melo is good enough to lead a good team to the Finals.  Don’t think the way the Knicks are currently constructed will ever get them there though.

You gotta feel bad for Melo. He’s the only guy drafted top 5 from the 03′ draft without a ring. Even Darko Millicic has one.  Lol, poor Mel.

I agree with Melo because Knicks need the same time to gel like Miami.  Also one could argue that Lebron and Wade are similiar players and Heat has no legit Center to defend the lane yet they still one.  If Melo, Amare can commit on the defensive end, this changes this team.  Also Lin is still improving.  I think Knicks Heat series would have been better if Knicks were healthy.

I think if they want to do they need to do it now because OKC has a better team because I think they are  a team that could 3 peat.  Miami not so much until they get a better low post threat and a defense big at the 5 position who can at least score a little for defense to be honest.

The East is weaker now.  Orlando, Chicago, and Boston have a lot of question marks.  Boston is the one team I see bouncing back.  I think if Knicks can get the 3rd seed which seems possible now, they could go on a good run in the playoffs and they may be able to get hot at the right time and take out the Heat.  We have yet to see Knicks click on all cylinders like the Miami has shone after dealing with much scutiny.  I remember when Spo was close to getting fired or replaced.

Championship teams are build with players who are defensive-oriented. Those who are willing to hustle, play end to end defense and understanding roles. Tyson Chandler has been a wall of defense for the knicks but who else? All I see is a couple of guys who would rather score than defend first.

Carmelo has proven this year that he can’t be surrounded by talent.  What hope does he have to win a championship when his game is a cancer to his already talented team right now?  The more talent he has on his team, the further he is from his championship ring if he even has one waiting for him.  He needs to change his game to allow him to play with other talented players, but I don’t see that happening.

Unless Melo completely reinvents the way he plays ball, he won’t win a championship. Taking his conditioning seriously couldn’t hurt either. In the 1st round Melo couldn’t defend Lebron and he couldn’t get by him on offense. Its sad that he get’s over 1.5 mil a month and shows up outta shape every year, instead of better then the year before. Paul Pierce is another dude who doesn’t take the word "athlete" seriously. Pierce gets most of his conditioning done on the trainers table.  Imagine how good Pierce and Melo would be if they took their fitness seriously.
