KayjayParticipantThe Sacramento Kings have sent out a press release announcing that they have officially extended the Qualifying Offer to Power Forward Jason Thompson. The Qualifying Offer officially makes Thompson a Restricted Free Agent, meaning the Kings can match any offer he receives in Free Agency. Per ShamSports, Jason’s Qualifying Offer is about $4.4 million.
Jason is coming off of his best year as a King, averaging 9.1 PPG on 53.5% shooting, 6.9 RPG, 1.2 APG, 0.7 STL, and 0.7 BLK in 25.9 MPG. Coming into last season, Jason was facing a bit of uncertainty regarding his standing with the team after the Kings signed veteran Forward/Center Chuck Hayes and traded for J.J. Hickson. Thompson rose to the challenge though, a testament to his character in hard work.
This is good news for the Kings, Thompson is a solid glue guy. He’s only 25 and is good at picking up the slack when Cousin’s struggles. I’m pretty sure if the Kings don’t draft MKG/Barnes, it most likely means they will draft a shot blocker to come off the bench. I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of starting either. Either way I’m glad they are going to match any reasonable offer.

For_Never_EverParticipantI wonder if Hassan Whiteside is any good or not. That guy is long with great athleticism. But it look’s like he won’t be getting any minutes this year.

KayjayParticipantMade some improvements last year, he may or may not get playing time. He’s a seven footer who was originally supposed to be paired up with Cousins. Its still possible, it depends on what Keith Smart see’s during the off season. Same with Tyler Honeycutt.
