ASAP HenryParticipantSo after reading the latest chad ford mock draft, i had a though pop into my head. If u are the T-Wolves would u consider trading Derrick Williams to move into the top 10 of this draft? Do u even think Derrick Williams has that much value at this point? The wolves really need a stud shooting guard to pair with Rubio in the backcourt and if they moved into the top 10 then they could have their pick of Rivers, Waiters, Lamb, etc… Let me kno what u all think

Lotto StudParticipantThere is no player in the top 10 of this draft worth taking over Williams other then Anthony Davis.

CodySLCParticipantReally think they will try and move B Easy Mike Beasley before Derrick Williams. He’s only played one year. He didn’t shoot well, but i think he’s still got a ton of room to grow.

CoolidgerParticipantI still think its too early to be trading the guy who was the second overall pick from last years draft unless you can get something really good in return. Yes he didn’t blow up the boxscore but he played well in limited minutes and is still finding his niche in the nba, but Derrick Williams still presents a considerable amount of potential and upside.
I remember people said similar things of Evan Turner when he got off to a slow rookie season, because they couldn’t find time for him and he was playing with another similar type player in Andre Igoudala. Came back much strong the following season and its working out well for them. I will D Will could be the same thing, he could be one of the franchise pillars (behind Love/Rubio ofcourse) for this team moving foward. Unless they can get Bradley Beal out of this, in which case I would consider it, I still think they should hold onto Williams.

KHAM83ParticipantWould you send Derrick WIlliams to Charlotte for #2 pick/Beal???
@18 draft SF Harkless or either Jones, JeffreyTaylore, Royce White???

mds0549ParticipantTwolves can do a sign and trade for Beasley, people have had him going to the Lakers and I would throw in the GSW too. Lakers can’t afford to pay him unless it is a trade and he could learn a bit from Kobe. Don’t trade Williams, short pre-season and short season with few practices because of the schedule mean that his ceiling is still very high at this point. If they stick with the 18, pick up Lamb, Ross or Wroten and look to get a FA like J Carwford who seemed to like the idea of playing for MN last year

He is a free agent

NbanflguyParticipantI dont think we should trade Derrick unless it is an amazing deal for a already proven young player. Yeah he wasnt great last year, but he showed flashes of being a all star calliber player and he was only a rookie. Adelman is a fantastic coach and will find Derrick minutes. He has too much potential and it is way to early to give up on him.

220ParticipantDerrick Williams just had the misfortune of being behind the All Star Kevin Love. If he went to most other lottery teams outside maybe the Jazz he likely would’ve started and put up good numbers.

KHAM83ParticipantIf so, if the Bulls Warriors deal falls through, will Wolves Warriors consider swapping Beasley/Wesely Johnson for #7, Beidrins, Rush?
Warriors get them a 3 in Beasley and another prospect who they may be able to get something out of. Wolves can get a 2g at #7, have Rush to back up the 2 and 3, and Beidrins a defensive center behind Petrovich.

kobyzParticipanti just think they will be better moving Derrick Williams than B Easy, first of all i’m very high on Mike Beasley, i’m quit sold on him that he could be a great player if the team treat him right, i think he has changed and not trouble maker anymore. and even more important i don’t see Derrick WIlliams much as SF compliment Love, he is PF to me while B Easy muce more natural SF and a better fit!

MusliParticipantT-Wolves have to trade someone. Williams, Beasley, Johnson – they shouldn’t keep all 3 of them. They need a shooter at 2 and a good SF (I don’t like neither MB nor WJ). They can draft Harkless or Taylor at #18, and they should flip someone for a pick to draft a top SG.

KHAM83ParticipantDerrick Williams for Gay/Mayo???
Memphis seems to be ready to let Mayo walk and would like to get out from Gay’s contract. I can see both teams willing to do this deal. Itll have to be a sign and trade w/ Mayo, hes a RFA and I dont see him getting a huge offer.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/25/2012 - 9:58am #687504

CodySLCParticipantYou mean a RFA. I don’t think they will just let him walk either without getting something in return.

Born ReadyParticipantIf the wolves can somehow get into the top 8 of the draft (drafting rivers) without dealing derrick williams and useing b easy and wes as trade bait, wolves fans all over with be jumping to the season ticket line

KHAM83ParticipantDWill just doesnt compliment Love at all. I do not disagree with picking him as a value pick, although its easy to say now Jonas V would have been great, but to get the best for the team, they eventually have to move him to fill needs. This draft is perfect with the amount of talented SGs and teams willing to move their lotto pick. ALthough Derrick Williams wasnt lights out, his value is high based on potential. You do not want him to have another subpar year and for his value to go down.

HaleParticipantI’d take that deal in a heartbeat if I’m Minny.

Born ReadyParticipantP.s Derrick does need to do alot of improve this offseason, the only way he will stick around in a wolves uni if he learns to play the three on both ends of the floor.

Meditated StatesParticipantWilliams is not. I like Williams but he wont take Loves job so he does not fit. They can get a lot for him so if though he is good shop around.

PulseGlazerParticipantBeasley can’t be signed and traded before the draft because free agency doesn’t begin until July 1. Beal is the only player I’d trade Williams for in the top 10, and that means Char and the 18 pick… makes sense to me. Williams seems like he’ll be comprable to T-Rob and with 18 Cha can grab someone like Perry Jones or Sully for some more talent.
