MCRIZZParticipantDavid Locke @Lockedonsports
"Reports Houston is offering #16 and Kyle Lowry to Toronto for #8 – if Jazz had gotten lucky they would have #8 would u do deal as Utah?"
I think this is a good move for the raptors and if houston really is going after dwight I can understand why they would be looking to move up to #8 to possibly flip to orlando
The raptors could get harkless at 16 and have a lineup of
1st: lowry derozan (16-harkless) bargs val
2md: calderon kleiza johnson davis amir
What do you guys think?

cuseflynn10ParticipantIf this trade went through, the Raptors would win big time. They need a SF, and there’s no sense in reaching for Jones, Jones, or Harkless at #8. Why not move down eight spots and take one, as well as add Lowry.
Obviously the Rockets don’t want to lose Lowry, but one of the point guards have to go, and Lowry has more value. If they could then package a deal of Martin, #8, #14, and some additional pieces for a superstar, then it would be a good deal. But giving up Lowry and pick #16, just to move up to #8 isn’t a good idea unless their planning to do another trade.

KHAM83ParticipantYes and Yes.
Utah and Tor biggest needs ae at PG. Tor other need is as sf which they can get someone at 16, who will be too high for 8 since MKG and Barnes will be gone. I doubt Harkless will be there though, hes been rising up the charts. I can see Tor taking a stab and either Jones to play the 3, preferebly Perry. Both are high risk, but at 16, its worth it. Lowry-Derozan-Jones III-Bargs-Val. Im hearing that Nash to Tor has some legs too. Itll be interesting if this is true. Tor will love to bring Nash home, but for another two years at the expense of getting a young pg in Lowry? THey can go small with Nash and Lowry in the backcourt. Great scenerio, trade #8 for Lowry and #16. If Deron Williams leaves Brooklyn, try to swap Lowry for Gerald Wallace. At 16, draft Nash’ heir in Marshall or Teague. Field a lineup of Nash-Derozan-Wallace-Bargs-Val.

bloodshyParticipantGreat deal for Toronto. Lowry would be a huge upgrade as a scorer and on defense for Toronto. Frankly, Lowry for the #8 by itself seems like a reasonable swap. Lowry for an 8-spot improvement in the middle of the draft seems overkill. This is a great value for Toronto and a bad deal for Houston.
The Jazz would have done this deal in a second if they had the #8.

ZaratukParticipantSeems like a pretty good trade for the raps, hopefully they can grab a Jenkins or Kim English with their 37th pick, because they will lack perimeter shooting with a Derozan-Harkless-Lowry lineup IMO

RapCityParticipantThis is a great deal but I’d rather see if Houston would give up their pick and Kevin Martin instead. From there they can go after Steve Nash or Jeremy Lin. Then draft either PJ III or Moe Harkless. There could be a possible line up of Nash/K-Mart/Derozan/Bargnani/Jonas with PJ III or Harkless coming off the bench to develop. This trade sets the Raptors up to be good now and in the future as well.

niQParticipantI’d be down if its was Houston’s 14th pick which would give us the chance of drafting Terrence Ross. And I’m a little worried about Lowry’s injury history.

RickyRubio9ParticipantRockets are trying to trade Lowry and the 16th for the 8th and then plan to use their 14th pick and Samuel Dalembart in a trade with Sacramento for the 5th pick.
I know, why Big Sam? They want to slide Cousins to the four and put a defensive big along side him.
From there the Rockets will either use their 5th to take Andre Drummond and the 8th to try and get Rivers.
OR
Trade both picks along side K-Mart and maybe something else for Dwight Howard..However, as a fan of the Rockets, I rather draft and keep the picks.
Lowry didn’t really get injured, just really sick.. And the reason the Rockets are choosing Lowry to trade is he butted heads with McHale and rumors say he wants out of Houston with the new coach leaving us to overpay to keep Dragic as our starting point guard.
PG – Dragic
SG – C. Lee, Rivers
SF – Parsons, Budinger
PF – Scola, Patterson, Morris
C – Drummond, Camby?,Hopefully we get rid of K-Mart as that era has ended with the vetoed Lakers trade
The rest of our roster will have to be filled with free agency as I doubt we’ll bring back Courtney Fortson, Greg Smith, Earl Boykins, or Diamon Simpson

PulseGlazerParticipantThe trade makes a lot of sense for both teams and yes Utah would do it.

JosephclunieParticipantI understand Houston wanting to try to land Howard but I just don’t see Sacramento giving up the 5… If u want an athletic guy to pair with cousins then draft Drummond… Dalembert isn’t an answer at all.
Toronto shouldn’t have to think twice though. If Houston did pull off both but couldn’t land Howard then getting Rivers and Drummond isn’t bad trade off either… I’d then attempt moving Scola and just start getting really young. Draft like OKC is the knew way apparently
