     It seems as though one of my favorite prospects entering the draft this year isn’t getting as much love as I’d like for him to be getting.  That prospect is Doron Lamb, the sophomore shooting guard out of Kentucky.  

    Doron Lamb to me has the ability to go in the late-teens to early-twenties but a lot of people on here as well as over at ESPN have him ranked a lot lower, some having him go within the final few picks of the first round and even some have him slipping into the second round.  My question is, why?

    I do understand that he is a little undersized and that he doesn’t really have the play-making ability to be a point guard, but I think he could be a very good shooting guard who can play a limited amount of spot minutes at the point.  

    In his sophomore season at Kentucky, he was a part of a team that finished with an overall record of 32-2, winning the National Championship.  Lamb was the starting 2-guard for the squad.  Even with power-house names like Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Terrence Jones, and Anthony Davis, Lamb still managed to average just over 13 points a game on 46% shooting from the field.  That to me is pretty effcient considering who he had on that roster.  

    Also, Lamb to me was the most consistant and determined player during their run at the National Championship.  It seemed like he had a good performance in every single game, including the final one of the season, and to me was a HUGE reason Kentucky were so successful during the NCAA tournament.  

    Doron Lamb to me improved tremendously from his freshman to his sophomore season, and has had a lot of the spotlight drawn away from him due to the country’s Most Outstanding Player in Anthony Davis.  

    I like Doron Lamb and believe he is ranked too low, and if he is taken in the late-twenties or even the second round than I can guarantee you he will be a steal for whoever scoops him up.  

    Let me know your guys’ thoughts about whether or not Doron Lamb is underappreciated or not.

    I agree 100%… I never used to like Lamb just because I hated UK but after watching him at the combine work Terrence Ross 1 on 1 on a few different occasions it occurred to me that he was certainly worthy of a 1st round pick and someone who could go as high as #18 to Minnesota

    Strongly agree, I believe he is one of the underated prospects in this draft. Also, after combine I thought he will be mentioned among winners because of good measurements including 6’4.5 (If I remember right) height in shoes which I believe is very good for a supposed to be combo-guard.

    His ability to shoot the ball, playing equally well off or with the ball and showcased ability to fit a the role combined with strong upside and young age is really what I would be looking for in late teens – twenties if I needed a two. Minnesota, Altanta, Cleveland. I would really love to see him going to Cleveland I believe he could be a starter there for years to come but he can be taken earlier, we will see.

    If the usual suspects are the 2 are gone, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Minnesota take him.  He’d fit their team perfectly.

    Much better ball handling skills then McCants. Agree that Lamb is totally underrated.

    Lakers, who have almost no FA signing flexibility should buy into the first round and take Lamb, he could immediately be their third guard and provide some of the outside shooting they need.

    Similarily, I think that Marquis Teague is underrated/undervalued at this point. It says a lot to be a top 10 recruit, #! pg in your class, and to take a back seat to the rest of your team statistically, but still be able to lead your team to the title. I’m not surprised that some boards have him at 16 to Houston as they’re probably gonna lose a pg this summer. For me, he’s a better prospect than Marshall

    i have no doubt in my mind that whichsoever team draft him will get a bargain, Doron Lamb is a gamer, remind me Dražen Petrović, i’m sure you’ll see him make the NBA All-Rookie Team  next season!

     Look, Doron Lamb can shoot jump shots, get to the rack, shoot free throws, play solid defense, and be a vocal leader on a National Championship basketball team.  If that’s not 1st round talent, then the NBA is even more confusing than I thought.  

    If I were Minnesota, I’d take a good long look at Doron Lamb with my 18th overall selection.  A top-notch shooting guard is what Minnesota lacks, and so desperately needs to push them to the next level.  Imagine this:

    Rubio – D. Lamb – Beasley (Re-sign) – Love – Pekovic

    Ridnour – J.J. Barea – Wes Johnson – Derrick Williams – Anthony Randolph (Re-sign)

    That is a very dangerous lineup and has the potential to be a very solid playoff contender with K-Love and Ricky Rubio leading the way for this young, upincoming team.

    Should have that 18-27 range.

    Wade missing 20 games per season, miller close to the retirement, maybe jones out, i can’t imagine them passing on lamb if he’s available, he has championship tag all over him, just like battier and chalmers as role players.

    i had him to the cavs before that 2 vs 4 rumor, first i was on beal + miller to the cavs, after the wizards trade i was on MKG and lamb reunited…and now ?

    Could be a cheap and solid replacement to barbosa and OJ for the pacers and grizzlies, a little reach for the wolves, cavs building on high IQ players, heat.
