ChewyParticipantEuro Championship is the 2nd biggest soccer tournament in the world (behind the World Cup). I have been glued to the TV during this tournament and watched every game (literally). Group Stage is over and the Quarterfinals have been decided and will start tomorrow.
Czech vs Portugal, Germany vs Greece, Spain vs France, and England vs Italy
1. England has been known to try to win playing the most boring way possible. Sit back on defense and get by on 1-0 wins and 0-0 ties. However, this year England went off for 5 goals in 3 matches which I garuntee noone predicted.
2. EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT A FAN OF SOCCER! How often do you get to the see the best team ever in a sport? Some of you are old enough to remember watching the Dream Team (or atleast watch the special on NBATV)… Spain’s National Team is being considered THE BEST SOCCER TEAM TO EVER PLAY THE GAME! They really are playing the game at it’s highest level. Everyone should try to see atleast one of their games.

delfamParticipantNot really the best soccer team to ever play the game when their best player isn’t even playing due to injury.

Sewok15ParticipantThey have the best collection of talent but they might not even be the best team right now. Germany looks like a force so hopefully they meet in the final and we will see who the best in the world truly is.

ChewyParticipantHaving him out does hurt because he just knows how to put the ball in, but Torres is a high level striker who is capable of being the top forward for Spain. Spain’s group of players are looking to win their 3 major tounrmant in a row which would be unbelievable. The great thing about them is it has been the same players from the last 2 tournaments, with the exception of David Villa, that are playing now as well.
Germany looks tough. They really need to play through Mesut Ozil cuz he is playing great right now. Schweinsteiger is sold like usual and I feel like Podulski can score from anywhere on the field.
England looks tough. They have Rooney back to pair with eitheir Andy Carroll or Danny Welbeck (both have scored already). Gerrard is leading the Tourny is assists. I just really question the Goalkeeping of Hart.

Sewok15ParticipantTwo seasons in a row leading the EPL in clean sheets and you still question him? I think he is one of the top 5 goalkeepers in the world without question.

ChewyParticipantHe is a very solid goalkeeper. He makes the right plays. Is always in the right spots and gets to the balls he is supposed to be able to get to. However, I don’t see him being able to make the spectacular save that robs the other team of a goal. Special goalies get to the shots that no goalie is supposed to get to. I don’t see him being able to cover for a defender who makes a mistake. He needs 4 defenders infront of him cutting down angles so that he only has to cover part of the goal.
I will say that he has great size at 6’5 though…

frogmanParticipantQuestion the goalkeeping of Hart? He is one of the best keepers in the world. Trust me England fans are ecstatic to have him over Robert Green and David James who they have had in the last few tournaments. England are not a threat, I doubt they get past Italy but if they do Germany will pump them. I think it will inevitably be a Spain – Germany final with Germany to win due to the goal scoring of Mario Gomez. I think he is better than anything Spain can throw up front although I like Torres Mats Hummels will shut him down. Hummels will be signing with a massive European team over the next year.

phila9012Participantit is totally different tha basketball, it is about team, and it isnt one on one. it is like ozil, the 2 wings (podolski, reus) and the stiker(gomez) on the 4 defenders, goalies and one or 2 mid fielders.

TheBigEasyParticipantI am not impressed with England at all. France has a good team and could give Spain fits and indeed they definitely miss Villa. Torres is hopelessly out of shape, despite his goals. Have you seen him play at Chelsea this year? Terrible!
I also think that the final will be Spain – Germany, but really can’t make up my mind which team will win. I do think that Philip Lahm is massively underrated. IMO one of the best backs in the world at the moment.
