GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantI was sitting playing NBA 2k12 when it hit me. The way to get all the draft picks (or most) to participate in 5 on 5 games is to convince the players association (prob a fat chance) to agree to docking any potential draft pick one million a year from their rookie contract if they do not participate( the number drops the later they get picked) while also adding a insurance policy of 1 Million or more if they end up getting hurt. There would probably be a player or two who would not participate but i think most would because losing that million is not something the agent would want to do. Basically it would be the top 10-14 players playing in these scrimmages which would help teams see how they play out side of their college team system.

mikeyvthedonParticipantNot gonna happen, Dr. Evil. Why should these guys put themselves at risk? Why would they want to shell out the money for an insurance policy? It would be great to see the top players work out against each other, but there is next to no reason to do so for these players. To force them to monetarily just seems like something fellow players would not at all support.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantThats why i said fat chance that the Players association would agree. I’m sure the owners would love it. It’s only possible if the owners are willing to give up something

MJBrownParticipantThe predraft workouts are there for players to demonstrate their abilities in front of GMs in hope of upping their stock. If they don’t feel a need to do so, they shouldn’t have to. Think about it if you were Anthony Davis. Why would you feel the need to have to prove yourself if you already know where you’re going to go. The media blows players not working out, out of proportion. If makes perfect sense for some guys to skip it.

Doug25ParticipantInstead of docking pay from the players, I think that giving players bonuses would be a much better motivation. I’m sure each team would not mond pitching in around a million, and then you could have at least thirty prospects playing in drills and scrimmages.
