fliptonnParticipantJason Kidd recently said that he will likely play for either the Mavericks or the Nets. He went on to say that he would like to back up Deron Williams wherever he goes. This is just another piece in a very complicated off season for the Nets.
So basically this is how it’s going to go down for the Nets. If you can swing a trade for Dwight, he’ll likely come with: Deron Williams, Jason Kidd, Gerald Wallace (rumored 8 years 24 mil), Andrei Kirelenko, and Mirza Teletovic (and rumors of Ray Allen). If you can’t get Dwight, you’re left with basically nothing in the form of Brooke Lopez and Marshon Brooks.
It doesn’t seem likely that the Nets can pull this off, but it’s possible. I would offer Orlando the farm (which still isn’t much) for him because if you don’t you’re stuck with nothing.

SpacegrassParticipantDeron Williams should be honored that Jason Kidd feels that way about him , maybe he can help get Williams over the top or at least teach him how to get over the top. I feel like some guys at PG in the league that were not as good as Williams 2-3 years ago have caught up if not passed him.

220ParticipantBacking up Deron Williams could certainly help extend Jason Kidd’s career a bit because he wouldn’t have nearly the same level of wear and tear as a backup.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantGerald Wallace (rumored 8 years 24 mil)

I assume you mean 3 years 24 mil.
Yeah Brooklyn is in a tough spot, they could either be a contender next year or the worst team in the league. They should not have traded their 1st rounder this year because it could have been a crucial ingredient in sweetening the pot for D12.
That would be an ideal situation for Kidd since he is one of the few future hall of famers in the league who is willing to take on more of a role off the bench. Look how awful Derek Fisher was as a starter but how solidly he has played as a backup in OKC. Kidd would be perfect for that kind of role.

doubledribblerParticipantIt makes sense. Kidd can extend his career by playing less minutes. The thing with Williams is that he can also play without the ball, so Kidd wouldn’t have to be glued to the bench since both guys can play at the same time on occassion.
As far as Howard goes, the Nets or Mavericks better find a way to get him. The Mavericks didn’t get to defend their title and the Mavs could end up with very little because of how much they were willing to give up for Howard.

TMoney617ParticipantI would love to have J Kidd back on the Nets so he can retire a Net. I really wish D Will stays.
