A Trade Cleveland Can Explore

I think the Rockets would have to give more than Kevin Martin for the 4th pick, especially if Drummond is still there because the Cavs could also say no, draft Drummond and let him develop until Varejao leaves…. And if Drummond is ready before Varejao leaves, then Cleveland could trade Varejao away they could get a future first round pick or an interesting asset.

An alternative option for the Rockets, if Drummond is still there at 6, would be to trade Martin and picks 14 and 16 for picks 6 and 11 and optionally 40 or 41 with the Blazers (that is IF the Blazers are ready to do so).

The combine numbers list Beal as 6’4.75″ with shoes on. So he’s basically 6’5″, he’s basically the same height as Ray Allen and James Harden. He’s a good athlete and a shooter, I don’t think his height will be an issue unless some team wants to play Nellieball and use him as a SF or PF.

What else would Houston give up or have to give up for the trade to go for the 4th pick? Pick 16 and Parsons/Budinger? Would Cleveland have to throw in pick 24 to get pick 16 in the deal? It seems like Houston would be coming up on the short end to me. They give up 20-25 a night, a 3 and a pick for the 4th pick and maybe 24 and some throw in player to make dollars match? Great for Cleveland not for Houston, at least in the immediate future. On the flip side the fact the Drummond could be really good and worth it all in the long run which may be enough for Houston.

I’ve felt for a while that Beal in Cleveland is an amazing fit. With Irving at the helm, having Beal beside him makes an electrifying backcourt. I see Barnes fitting in at SF there too, I just live the Irving/Beal backcourt.

 Beal is perfect for Cleveland. Might be slightly undersized, but he more than makes up for it. 

According to the reports, Cleveland is looking at either Barnes or Beal, the Cavs will apparently pick the prospect that’s still on the board, however it would be highly interesting if both Beal and Barnes were available or paradoxically, if they weren’t available.

Considering how strong those two wings are currently and how good they can be makes keeping the 4th pick extremely important to the Cavs’ future plans, i’m not knocking Kevin Martin because he’s a good player and a great wing player that the team needs but it’s unlikely he’ll suddenly get better, the Cavs are aiming to build a young and fresh team that has the potential to be a top playoff team. Having either Beal or Barnes being Irving’s sidekick would be a good step forward along with making ample use of their other picks.
