TRC1991ParticipantOk, so after reading the "biggest draft WTF moments" thread, I decided to do some research. I want to see if there truly was a worse drafting team than Seattle. Here I have the Sonics picks from 2004-2006.
THE CHALLENGE: FIND A TEAM THAT HAD 9+ CONSECUTIVE PICKS (1990 ON)THAT WERE WORSE THAN THIS GROUP.
2004
Robert Swift (4.3 ppg, 3.9 rpg in 97 NBA games)
Andre Emmett (1.4 ppg, 0.6 rpg in 14 NBA games)
David Young (DNP in any NBA games)
2005
Johan Petro (4.7 ppg, 3.9 rpg in 442 NBA games) ONLY PLAYER ON NBA ROSTER TODAY
Mickael Gelabale (4.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg in 109 NBA games)
Lawrence Roberts (3.8 ppg, 3.6 rpg in 87 NBA games)
2006
Saer Sene (2.2 ppg, 1.6 rpg in 47 NBA games)
Yotam Halperin (DNP in any NBA games)
Denham Brown (DNP in any NBA games)

David Stern a.k.a. da muthaf@cking leader of da kryptsParticipantChallenge denied. You won’t find a worse group drafted by the same team.

chocboywndrParticipantI do not think any team can beat that level of futility

Allen_Iverson_3ParticipantI’m sorry but you initially stated "basically any seattle sonics pick from 2002-2008" was a wtf moment in the draft which is irrelevant because the Sonics drafted the likes of Durant, Westbrook or Ibaka during that period of time. However, now that you’ve reduced your statement to 2004-2006, I am (and I think we are) forced to agree with you.
Personally, I think you shouldn’t have taken it this way and create a post because of that, you might have wanted to rectify your statement in the main post…. just my opinion.0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/16/2012 - 4:53am #682445

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantThat’s pretty terrible. This Nuggets group is awful too.
1999
James Posey (the best pic in this horrible era, still in the NBA and has career averages of 8.6 ppg and 4.7 rebounds)
Chris Herren (3.2 PPG in 70 NBA games)
Francisco Elson (carved out a niche in the NBA with 3.7 PPG and 3.5 RPG in his career)
2000
Mamadou N’Diaye (3.8 PPG in 69 NBA games)
Dan Mclintock (3.0 PPG and 2.8 RPG in a whopping 3 NBA games)
2001
Ousmanne Cisse (Don’t think he ever played a game in the NBA)
2002
Nikoloz Tskitishvili (one of the biggest busts in recent memory, 2.9 PPG and 1.8 RPG in 172 career games)
Frank Williams (2.9 PPG in 86 NBA games)
Vincent Yarbrough (1 season in the NBA where he averaged 6.8 PPG)
Good thing the Nuggets managed to trade for Nene after he was drafted and snag Carmelo in 2003 or they would have been awful for a long time.

MagikKnickParticipantDoesnt get much worse than that..
9 Picks between 2004 and 2006, and only ONE of them is still in the NBA? And hes not even good..

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantI found another awful one too. Nets from 2003-2007:
2003
Zoran Planinic
Kyle Korver (by far their best pick)
2004
Viktor Khyrapa
Christian Drejer
2005
Antoine Wright
Mile Ilic
2006
Marcus Williams
Josh Boone
Hassan Adams

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantMy gawd there have been lots of teams with drafting futility, heres another one (granted at least the Knicks didn’t have any top 10 picks in this group):
Knicks 1997-2001

220ParticipantSeattle’s picks over that period of time is a big reason that Sam Presti got the job. So the Thunder can be thankful for such horrid picks because it got them the super executive Sam Presti.
