Fear the BeardParticipantI think the team that a player gets drafted to has a huge impact on their ability to achieve their potential and succeed in the league. So in the draft there are best case scenarios for prospects where they can fully achieve their potential and the worst case scenarios where they are doomed to fail. So where do you see the best and worst case scenarios for your favourite prospect? Mine is Harrison Barnes, although he is considered a low ceiling / high basement prospect, the team that picks him up would have a huge difference on his career.
Best case scenario: Cleveland. Playing next to Kyrie, Barnes would get the ball right where he needs it, can be an ideal number 2 guy for a very good young core (best in the east outside of maybe the pacers potentially?) we saw the difference a good pg can make for Barnes at NC and playing in Cleveland I can see him getting voted into the all star game by the coaches when Cleveland is back into the playoffs (like Luol Deng)
Worst case scenario: Bobcats / Kings. As we saw when Marshall went down, Barnes really struggled without effective ball movement and having to play in isolation. Which I see he would be required to do at these 2 clubs. And at the bobcats we would be ushered in as a saviour, and that didn’t go too well last time in North Carolina.
What about you? What do you see as the best and worst scenario come draft day for your favourite prospect?

WolfRobParticipantBrad Beal. Cleveland or Washington. I think he would make a great running mate for both Kyrie & John Wall. He can stretch the floor with his silky smooth jumper, but I can also see him finishing at the rack. Honestly a poor mans Ray Allen, but not to far off.
Worst Case: Bobcats. He will be asked to do to much. I see him being a top second option, not quite the guy to lead a team night in and night out.

B-ball fanParticipantBest case: Celtics. I am biased, but I do feel that Boston would be a good place for him. He wouldn’t be forced to play big immediately, but he would have a chance to earn playing time down the road, kind of like Avery Bradley. He is a player whose game needs a lot of work, but he has oodles of talent. Going to the Celtics would help him learn to play within the offense. Going to Boston, I could see him sitting much of his rookie year, but getting some playing time as the year went on and then breaking out over his 2nd or 3rd year.
Worst Case: Nuggets. He would be buried behind Danilo Gallinari. Denver already has a lot of young players and Miller might just get lost in the shuffle.

jhbm24ParticipantThe best team for Harrison’s career are the bobcats. He can be the man and he needs to learn how to do it an what better team than a faceless bobcats.
Worst case for Barnes is 5th to the kings. The owners of the kings are gna kill the development of all it’s players with all the hoopla and dysfunction.

jhbm24ParticipantWhich team would you rather have him on, wiz, or cavs?

lilballa141Participantbest case (my favorite team) warriors : I believe Perry jones if maxed out can be an old t-mac ( you know when he was better than kobe) but not as good a scorer or a poor mans durant.. People have to realize he’s a SF tho … he wouldn’t be forced to be the man.. has a PG in curry who can get him shots and knock down shooters in curry/klay/wright.. he would also be able to guard a durant cuz they have similar length and height
Worst Case : a team where hes asked to do to much to early idk who.. He would also be forced into a PF role which isn’t him.. The motor reasons being true and he doesn’t work hard to maximize his potentional. The anthony randolph comparisons are true.
Also as far as him not maxing out in college is directly related to his playing out of position (PF/C) bad coaching job, and his teammates. Pierre jackson is a shoot first shoot second pass third type of player which took away from perry’s effectiveness and confidence..which is big in any player

Cosbysweater7ParticipantBest Case- 1.Phoenix Suns: With Steve Nash on his way out, and the need for a SG and new face of the franchise, this would be a perfect fit for Rivers because he also fits in with the Suns’ style of play.
Worst Case- He slides and/or gets picked by a team that doesnt need a SG but chooses him as the Best Player Availble and he has trouble finding consistent minutes. (Warriors, Pistons, Bucks, Sixers,)

HazelParticipantBest Case: Jazz
I know, no pick. I’m a homer. Just would love to see a trade and pick up maybe Portland’s 6th for say Al Jefferson and the GSW pick next year then hope he falls there.
He gets onto arguably the most talented young team not from OKC. Would love to see the Kanter, Favors, Barnes, Hayward, Burks lineup on the court at the same time. Hayward Barnes Burks could be Harden Durrant Westbrook light. Kanter Favors Millsap rotation should be head and shoulders better than Collison Ibaka Perkins. Nobody like Durrant, but sounds a lot more fun if I am Barnes than worst case: Bobcats.
Bobcats-horrible owner. No continuity, stuck in same state as college so heightened expectations and more media attention. Asked to be Lebron and can’t.

Meditated StatesParticipantLess pressure to be this huge star. He can learn from KG. Doc improves players. Kendrick,Bradley,Delonte,Big Al.
Worst case he goes to a team where he has to be the primary scorer from the start.

ChewyParticipantNot my favorite player, but maybe the most interesting prospect to me.
Best Fit: Denver Nuggets- Places him in a situation where he won’t be expected to contribute right away and with a coach who has a proven track record of developing talent. George Karl was Gary Payton’s main coach in Seattle and Tony Wrotten definately has that type of potential. Wrotten could also play next to Lawson who is clearly the started for the near future. On a team with shooters galore, the drive-at-all-costs Wrotten would provide a slasher that should be effective for DEN.
Worst Fit: Philladelphia 76ers- The last thing the 76ers need is another non-shooting slasher who needs the ball in his hands to be effective. They are also loaded with young guards who would severly hinder Wrotten’s development.

Sewok15ParticipantIn which scenario would Wroten possibly go to the Sixers?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/15/2012 - 9:01am #682067

ChewyParticipantPhilly has the 15 and 45 picks. Wroten going that high or that low is very unlikely. Philly could trade picks and get one more likely in Wrotens range. Either way it’s just a hypothetical on what team would be a really bad fit.

Sewok15ParticipantPicking Philly is just odd though especially when you say he would be a good fit in Denver since he wouldn’t be expected to contribute right away. Then in explaining why Philly is a bad fit you use the excuse that he couldn’t develop due to playing time. Denver and Philly are very similar teams in the way they are set up the only real difference being that Denver is more of an offensive team and Philly is more reliant on their defense.

JoeWolf1Thomas Robinson –
best case: Detroit – Detroit is searching for a tough nosed player to put next to Greg Monroe and Robinson would be great in that role. He’ll be off the board at #9, but that is where I think he’d be the best.
worst case: Charlotte – The Bobcats need a lot of help and despite being a very talented player, Robinson isn’t the guy to pull them out of the gutter. No one wants to play for a lemon and what good are inflated stats if you’re stuck on a losing team. I think it’d be a tough move after winning so much in college.

F_DA_POParticipantBest: I feel the best thing that could happen to him is going #19 to Orlando. They need a future guard and I could see him getting solid playing time.
Worst: the farther I can see him slipping is #34 to Cleveland. Being blocked by Irving could be bad, or they could be a future nice duo. Wroten needs to put on some weight to be a good SG, I just don’t see him being my type of PG (a good distributor).
