MikezParticipantLet’s say that Anthony Davis says screw this whole basketball thing, I want to become the tooth fairy.
Who are the Hornets selecting #1 overall?
In my opinion I think it’s Drummond based on potential.

catloverI think its Damian Lillard. I mean this guy could be MJ

ronniemiller1kParticipantdavis is #1 and after seeing those workout stats on barnes…jordan will be taking young mr. harrison #2 for sure!

MikezParticipantI asked if Davis isn’t in the draft who is the number 1 pick, It’s okay your probably 5, ill let it slide.

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantNo one is picking barnes because of what he did at the combine, this isn’t football. Its nice to talk about but players get picked on potential and what they do in college basketball and some workouts when they are matched up against other top players.

JoeWolf1You draft the tooth fairy and stash him in Europe until he’s ready to come over.

LEKYManParticipantJoe you are a Bucks coach…who are they drafting at 12, and any chance they trade BJ on draft day?

Moon RiverParticipantTooth Fairies don’t sport unibrows.
Taking Davis out of the equation, I think they would go the conservative route and take Robinson. He may not be a star, but he will be solid and I am convinced he will not be a bust, which Drummond could turn out to be.

Moon RiverParticipantJoe- don’t leave a brother hanging……I am curious about trading BJ as well!

JoeWolf1No, I’m just one of 37 fans Joe Wolf had as a player.

David Stern a.k.a. da muthaf@cking leader of da kryptsParticipantDear catlover,
There is no higher level of stupidness than the one you are on.

MakarosParticipantI’ll take Thomas Robinson.
They have Trevor Ariza as their defensive oriented small forward, they got Eric Gordon as their primary scoring threat, they got Emeka Okafor at the 5 and he is solid enough when he is not injured and they have glaring holes at the 1 and 4.
This year’s draft, as deep as it is, doesn’t have a PG that can possibly go number 1, hell it doesn’t have a PG that can go in the top 5 even. So they take care of their needs at the 4 and draft Thomas Robinson.
This comes from a huge Harrison Barnes fan btw 😛

MCRIZZParticipantI believe I understand what @mikez was trying to get…
I just don’t think the tooth fairy reference was great lol….God forbid but what would happen if Davis were to somehow sustain an injury that would put him out for the season prior to the draft? (something along the lines of the injury blake sustained but prior to draft day rather than after)
Do you believe he would still be drafted first overall? If not how far do you believe he would fall? I think this is an interesting topic (how much further ahead of the draft A davis is in comparison to the others…How willing would you be to wait a year to have him play in a regular season game?)
Thoughts?

MikezParticipant^^^ I just wanted to add something fun, if I had said a farmer or fire fighter people would have said "why would he be a fire fighter when hes gonna be the number 1 pick????"
The point of the thread was for people to say who they think the number 1 pick would be if Davis wasn’t in it.

HaleParticipant"Let’s say that Anthony Davis says screw this whole basketball thing, I want to become the tooth fairy."
This actually made me laugh. But New Orleans would select either MKG, Barnes or Drummond. I’d personally go Barnes or Drummond.

FastAndFuriousParticipantIDC what anyone says, Davis can be the #1 pick now, but if Drummond reaches his ceiling he will be the best player out of the draft.

SportsNinjaParticipantDoes anyone else thing T-Robs draft spot is hurt by being a junior? Not because he is older, but in sports, just like in life, experience is important. He had at least a year on all of the other major talent in the NCAA. That year, and in a lot of cases 2 years, of extra experience could be a big difference if you are comparing players.
I think this will make him the most NBA ready, and an obvious statement is he will compete for ROY, but long term can you see a lot of people in this class being better than him as they gain the experience he has? ? For instance, if I’m Charlotte and the worst team in the league, I’m not concerned with the player that is the most NBA ready, I want the most long term potential.
TRob was dominant, I just wonder how much of that is due to his experience in the NCAA. His freshman year he averaged 7 minutes and 2.5 ppg vs 32 and 17.7 junior year. That is a lot of growth obviously, and I’m not saying it’s fair to compare his freshman year vs those that are being drafted after their frosh year, but you have to at least consider that aspect right?

GoJOSH HUESTISParticipantAs far as experience, talent beats that. Evan Turner was very experienced but didnt win rookie of the year. Kyrie Irving had less experience than any other player by a mile ROY

DeShawns PotentialParticipantCouldnt you have just said "what if Anthony Davis decided to return to school?" Idk about all that tooth fairy stuff, lol
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/14/2012 - 6:41pm #681850

MikezParticipant^^ Saying he went back to school is boring… it was just to make the situation that he wasn’t going to be in the draft.
