rhamnlacsonParticipantam i the only one who thinks drummond would have a harder time at the no2 overall pick rather than him being on the wizards?the wall and drummodn connection might be a good one plus he could learn a thing or 2 on post moves from nene
i would prefer this rather than
pg-wall
sg-jordan crawford
sf-jan vesley
pf-nene
center-drummond
bobcats
pg-kemba walker
sg-gerald henderson/matt carrol/higgins
sf-jamario moon
pf-bismak biyombo
center-drummond

Anton123ParticipantThe Wizards have Nene-Seraphin-Vesely-Booker as their bigs, if they do draft Drummond they HAVE to make some trades

NYK2010ParticipantYou couldn’t be more right the Wizards have some players so a lot less pressure on him too.
Bobcats are in complete rebuild mode and it’ll take several years also where is the scoring coming from for them.

JordanC20ParticipantThe Bobcats aren’t going to pick Drummond surely…you would think they would go for a guy that don’t mind to score and lead a team early on…MKG is the right choice.

Toronto16ParticipantFor some reason I think the Bobcats are going to select Harrison Barnes

A Lil EnglishParticipantWhy wouldn’t the Bobcats draft Drummond and try trade Biyombo to someone who wants a shotblocker? He aint no PF

AstroParticipantI realize that Drummond could potentially be the next Dwight Howard/Amare – those physical tools are off the charts.
But I really don’t know if he has it in him to play at that level, to develop. He could be a slightly better Kwame Brown. I was not impressed by his UConn season. It’s an issue of motor and character, and I’m not sold.
The Wizards can’t afford to babysit his development. They’ve acquired a center in Nene – they need to draft the best player available at #3, which will probably be Kidd-Gilchrist or Robinson. Either one would be a significant upgrade over the current forwards the Wizards start, and both have a demonstrated work ethic to get much better.

kobyzParticipantyea, it’s not the matter of talent and physical tools with Drummond, i just don’t think he has in him the approach and the assertiveness to become a prime player in the league, also i have hard time seeing him grow to a main guy of a team, i think he lacks cerebration in his mind and leadership traits to be able in the futue to consistent take upon himself a big role especially on offense.
so with that said i will not even start to think on drafting him at least before the fifth pick cause there are 4 talented strong, secure prospects in Davis, Robinson, MKG and Barnes that simply Drummond isn’t worth the risk over them in any circumstances.

Andrew1984ParticipantCharlotte does not have a big who can provide any offense, so they should take Drummond. We can argue back and forth all day long about his motor and his boom-or-bust potential, but the fact is, big men are a rarer, more precious commodity than guards in terms of value and availability. Biyombo is never going to be able to score. BJ Mullens is a stiff, and Tyrus Thomas has roughly nine brain cells. I’ve heard MJ loves MKG, but that would be just like having Gerald Wallace back, which certainly did not make them a title contender. I think they’d rather have a 6-11, 260-pound athletic freak, who, with a kick in the pants, can do what Demarcus Cousins is doing, than anything else.
I may be mistaken, but I’m pretty sure Washington hasn’t even worked Drummond out. I read that they worked out MKG, Beal, and Thomas Robinson. To me, Drummond would be a better fit for Washington than any of those three because they already have Wall and Crawford in the backcourt, and they love Chris Singleton at the 3, Vesely at the 4, and Nene is 30 years old. He’s a vet who can teach Drummond and have him ready in 2-3 years. But they seem to be really jilted by the failed JaVale McGee project (from a maturity standpoint), so I don’t think they even have Drummond on the radar screen. I think they’ll take MKG because he’s just better than Chris Singleton.

joecheck88ParticipantI don’t get why everyone is talking about the Wizards having Nene. If they take Drummond at 3, by the time he is ready Nene will be approaching the end of his deal and he is already about 30 years old with a long injury list. And he can play PF. So I think Nene is irrelevant talking about Drummond to the Wiz. Then we talk about Kwame Brown. Drummond at the same age is stronger and more athletic with better hands. I think Drummond will surpass Deandre Jordan as a player by his second season. Andrew Bynum has maturity and motor issues but he is arguably the second best center in the league. They aren’t the same player but he can make it in this league.

surveParticipantI just wonder if MJ has the "guts" to select Drummond or does he play it safe with MKG? Also, MKG and Henderson could form a terrific perimeter defensive duo in the upcoming years.

AstroParticipantThe central issue with the Wizards is, are they going to build this team around John Wall, for the next decade? Is that the plan?
If so, they need to keep him from getting mired in a culture of losing, slackerdom and unseriousness. So far, they haven’t been able to, and soon it will be a crisis.
That’s the key issue here. Either Robinson or K-G provides exactly the type of person – read that again – person – they should be surrounding JW with. Someone who has internalized a culture of winning.
If the Wizards can become a playoff team the season after next (which is not unreasonable if they follow my blueprint), they can get a decent quality of free agent to fill in any remaining holes.
But, again – for God’s sake – surround Wall with winners, with workers, with guys who understand the team concept and will help the team accomplish its goals.
If Drummond doesn’t pan out, it sets the team back a decade. Even if he does pan out, but develops too slowly, it could be a major impediment to their goals.
No thanks.

Andrew1984ParticipantGreat post, Astro. Well-put.

mcbaileyParticipantAt the very least, Wall could teach Drummond how to dougie.

JoeWolf1I think he’ll slip into the 4-6 range, in all honesty. He tested very well from a size standpoint, but he compared himself to Kevin Durant. I think we’re making too many excuses for him and his lack luster season…it appears it has something to do with what style of player he thinks he is. This is not a guy who wants to be a post defender. This is a 32% FT shooter who sees himself as a face up player.

PulseGlazerParticipantDrummond is certainly 4-6 range it seems. Bobcats are supposedly choosing between MKG, Beal and T-Rob. I like Robinson best as a fit, but I’d still move the pick if I were them.

rhamnlacsonParticipantdrummond should fall on the no 3 or 4 spot at best he needs to have a good pg who can make him plays that would allow him to be more aggressive on the offenssive end i think he would be the guy that oden could have been if not for the injuries

cycloParticipantYup. The athletic testing results may catapult Harrison Barnes past Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and into the #2 spot. He already played in the Bobcats’ backyard at UNC.
