NCarmean18ParticipantIt’s good to see that Meyers is adding strength to his frame. After watching him a lot in his sophomore, the lack of strength was the main thing that was going to hurt his draft stock a lot, other than his raw offensive game (which can be developed in the NBA).
I think at the end of last season, Leonard weighed about 240 pounds, so it’s good to see that he has put on an extra 10 pounds of muscle since season’s end, and as soon as he gets drafted, he can work his first few seasons on hitting the weight room pretty hard. I’ll be glad to see him get drafted, and I hope he gets an invite from David Stern.
From everything I have gathered, he has had a very productive showing at the NBA Draft Combine, but I haven’t heard much on how his interviews went. So if anyone has any links to information or videos on Meyers at the combine, it would sure be appreciated.

Chilbert arenasParticipantI could see some GMs reaching on him after his combine performance, but he’s got all the physical tools to be successful

ChrisCrossParticipantwait let me get this straight, I’m wrong for thinking Meyers Leonard is soft?

JoeWolf1He looked big, his upper body is noticably bigger. His deltoids looked like they doubled in size since the season ended.

NCarmean18ParticipantHe’s dedicated to becoming a successful NBA player. He’s been criticized a lot becuase of his lack of bang down low, and his immaturity on the court (complaining to the referees about certain calls), and his decision-making.
The only reason Leonard came out this year, instead of improving even more and being a top 5 pick next year was because of his mother’s health issues. She has such a horrible back that she can hardly get out of bed, and she can’t go see him play. He wants to get paid as soon as possible, so that he can get his mom the necessary treatment she needs so she can come see her son play.
He may not be NBA-ready just yet, and he definitely could use some work on his offensive post game, and also add even more strength to his frame, but he is 7’1", 250 lbs., and he is an athletic freak with a soft touch around the rim, he can hit that 15-18 foot mid-range jump shot, and he is also an effeciant free-throw shooter for a big man. On defense, he can block shots and alter shots.
Leonard is an intriguing prospect. After the Combine, I have an excellent feeling that he will find himself in the lottery, and shaking David Stern’s hand come June 28th.
Leonard’s playing with a chip on his shoulder, and if he can ever reach his full potential in the NBA… Watch out.

JoeWolf1To be honest, he’s almost a combination of Andre Drummond and Tyler Zeller. One is more athletic, one is more skilled, but he’s the best combination. It’s up to him what he wants to do with it. With Houston’s constant search for a true C, I’d think he’d be in the mix at 14.

Andrew1984ParticipantI’d say he’ll be the exact medium between Ronny Seikaly (who had a few years of like 17 and 12) and Chris Mihm (total stiff).

NCarmean18ParticipantI am sure that Houston would love him with the 14th pick, but I’m not even sure yet if he dips down that low. From what I have collected, his measurements surpassed Tyler Zeller’s in every aspect. The earliest I could see Meyers Leonard going is #9 to Detroit. If Ben Wallace was to return, he could learn some tips and tricks from one of the greatest defensive centers of all time. He could be in the mix at #11 for Portland. They could grab a shooting guard with the #6 pick and then a promising young center in Meyers Leonard with the 11th pick. Or, maybe even Milwaukee at 12. They are in DESPERATE need of a center after trading away Andrew Bogut. He could come in right away and play decent minutes for them.
I think it will be a process, and I can’t be for sure, but if he really had as good of a performance as I’ve heard he has, he could wind up being the 2nd center off of the board, possible ending up in the top 10.

HitsterParticipantI’d agree that Leonard is maybe in the 9 to 16 range at the moment. Some teams above there do need a big but Myers could be a reach for them and I could not see him breaking into the elite group behind Davis. We assume that Detroit will look for a big and will no doubt work out PJ III, Henson, Zeller, Moultrie along with Leonard so a space is there to be taken. Also Portland, Milwaukee and Houston are all in that draft range so will again look at the big men available there.
I’ll throw in a suggestion that Boston could look to pair their two picks and maybe move up and could take a look at someone like Leonard.
