JoeWolf1TV coverage is getting started. I thought a unified thread might be good so there aren’t a million posts when someone does something good or bad.

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantDoes anyone know why they are not at Attack Athletics?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 4:21am #678036
fliptonnParticipantAnyone remember when this guy was supposed to be a lottery pick coming into this year haha. Now he probably won’t even get drafted. Unreal
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 4:24am #678038

PrecociousNeophyteParticipant@JoeWolf
I think that is Tomas Satoransky
@dlipto11
I don’t remember him being in the lottery. All I remember him being was in the second round.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 4:28am #678035

JoeWolf1Anyone know who #35 is? He’s tall and a good shooter, but I don’t recognize him at all.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 4:29am #678040

The8thDeadlySinParticipantSatoransky is my dude… He should be for real.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 4:31am #678042
fliptonnParticipantLast year as a junior he was averaging like 18 a game shooting 43% from 3 and had like 39 on Indiana and 22 on Butler in the Sweet 16 people were talking about him moving up a lot in mocks. But all I know is that he had a REALLY dissapointing season this year.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 4:33am #678039

Wahoo757Participant35 is Satoransky. 6-7 combo guard.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 4:35am #678043

WizardofOzParticipantLOL Wroten can’t shoot a lick
Teague has a weird shot and kind of kicks his legs out, kind of like he’s stopping himself from jumping higher, and has a slow release. Not a fan of his game, but he has a great frame for a PG.
Marshall’s shot didn’t look good at all in the spot-up 3 drill. Has a low release that comes from his chin, and doesn’t get much lift on his shot.

WizardofOzParticipantReally worried about Lillard’s long, slow release and how he’ll be able to get them off against contest at the next level. It starts all the way down from his waist.

WizardofOzParticipantJ’Covan Brown looked totally outmatched physically in the full-court sprints. Needs to improve conditioning.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:06am #678063

Wahoo757ParticipantI’m about 15 minutes behind on my TV, but up to where I am Tony Wroten has looked terrible. Nearly air-balled a wide-open mid-range jumper in the first drill, followed by a missed layup in the next drill, then he struggled in the two shootig drills. Then he looses the dribble and throws up a wild shot in the defense drill. I was hopin for a lot more than this for Wroten.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:06am #678065

JoeWolf1They pointed it out, and I totally saw it after that, but his follow through is sideways…it’s awful

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:17am #678071

TRC1991Participantthat Jeremy Lamb interview left much to be desired, he has a questionable motor already and now hes not even playing today
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:18am #678073

JoeWolf1He’s great in transition, it was dumb not to have him running full court drills, IMO
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:21am #678076
fliptonnParticipantI think he’s gambling/scared right now. He might know that guys like Terrence Ross, Austin Rivers, and Dion Waiters are better than he is and he doesn’t want to be compared with them. Right now he’s ranked ahead of those guys on most big boards and doesn’t want to slip down further so he’s keeping his potential and college body of work as his selling point. I agree with JoeWolf though, these drills should be perfect for Lamb. For the record I think all players should have to do these drills as a draft requirement but I understand why some don’t.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:23am #678078

WizardofOzParticipantLamb looks like he has down syndrome.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:23am #678080
Bob BallParticipantbeals interview was much better than Lambs he seemed far more compossed
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:35am #678086
Bob BallParticipantam i the only person who likes daron lamb more then john jenkins. Combine people seem to think jenkins is better.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:38am #678088

WizardofOzParticipant^^I like Lamb better because he’s more versatile w/ the ball.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:41am #678092

PrecociousNeophyteParticipantBradley Beal looks like a man. I can’t believe he is still only 18 years old. He looked like he was already in his early 20’s during that interview with Andy Katz.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:43am #678094
B-ball fanParticipantI like Doron Lamb better than Jenkins. Better defensively, superior mid range game, better athleticism, better ball handling ability. Jenkins may be the more dynamic college scorer, but I think Lamb’s game tranlates well to the NBA. He seems like an excellent NBA role player. Players who are elite spot-up shooters who can defend and competently fill other offenseive needs can find homes in the NBA.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:47am #678089
F_Sterrence ross is lighting it ^
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 5:48am #678095
B-ball fanParticipantSo far I have been impressed by Doron Lamb, who looks quite quick. Darius Johnson-Odom, on the other hand, looks a little bit slow. Just doesn’t look as athletic as the other guys in there. Couldn’t get to the rim well in the 1 on 1 drills. Don’t want to read to much into the combine, though, as it really doesn’t give a great read of the prospects just watching it. I’d guess the interviews are at least as important as the drills.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:01am #678099

JoeWolf1^DJO seems like a good guy, and he is a good athlete, but he looked bad in the drill segment. You could tell he was giving his all, but he wasn’t very effective nor did he hit a lot of his shots.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:10am #678106

JoeWolf1Lamb looked great shooting the ball. Orlando Johnson looked good too, he was money shooting off the dribble.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:13am #678108

The8thDeadlySinParticipantAnyone think Jay Crowder can work his way into a 3/2 player? They said he was under 6’4 without shoes…
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 1:16pm #678276

TallmanNYCParticipantI think Crowder will be just fine at the 3 at the next level. He certainly will rebound nicely out of that position. And he is good strong defender. Yeah, he will be short but he produces. Teams are idiots if they sleep on him.
0
- Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:15am #678110
B-ball fanParticipantYeah, I agree that DJO seems pretty cool. I always root for Marquette players to make it in the NBA, as they all seem to play hard and just know how to play basketball.
Moe Harkless is looking good. Shooting well in the pull-up drills and in the spot up shooting drill. If he can develop a consistent outside shot, he could really help himself.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:16am #678103

TRC1991ParticipantAfter watching the 2 guards, Doron Lamb was the best player on the court in my opinion
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:28am #678113

TRC1991ParticipantI love Marquette players, they play with toughness
Quincy Miller has a bit of a broke jumper, and Jay Williams said he finds him to be more of a power forward, which I dont agree with but I am a firm believer that he should have returned to school
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:32am #678117

WizardofOzParticipant^^I don’t think Miller has the lateral quickness to guard 3’s. He’s going to be a turnstile on the perimeter.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:35am #678118
Bob BallParticipantwill barton is uber slime is he a 2 or are 3 fran and jay say hes a two where my memphis fans at im curious
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:35am #678120

JoeWolf1I love Jeff Taylor’s athletic ability. You can tell by the way he moves he could explode at any time. He’s not the most refinded guy offensively, but I think he makes a lot of sense to OKC in the late 1st round since they may not be able to bring back Thabo.
Taylor could be a really great NBA defender, and he’s not nearly as one dimensional as Thabo.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:52am #678125

Toronto16ParticipantMy boy is working out! Perry Jones III!!!
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:58am #678127

JoeWolf1^Smart move by him, he’s a guy who looks great running drills. He’s trying to raise his stock right now, and he’d be doing himself a disservice by not showing off his skills against no defense.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 6:59am #678128

JoeWolf1I’m also glad to see Royce White working out with the PF’s, I never bought him as an NBA SF and I think his stock would have suffered if he was trying to market himself as a 3.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 7:15am #678136

WizardofOzParticipantAt least Fran Fraschilla has some sense. There’s no way PJIII wil be a 3 in the NBA. His handle and center of gravity are way too high on the perimeter.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 7:22am #678141

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 7:27am #678143

JoeWolf1I like Jones as an NBA player, he’s stood out more than Perry Jones and just about every other PF prospect thus far in this section of the combine.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 7:31am #678147

JoeWolf1Actually, Perry isn’t doing very well at all. He just got stopped twice in a row by Terrance Jones, including an air balled hook shot, and then on defense he got bulled over by Royce White.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 7:40am #678151
Bob BallParticipantwatching toyce white and terrence jones battle each other is a joy white is a skilled bully both have impressed me today. power forward is the strongest postion in this draft

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 7:52am #678159

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 7:54am #678160

DondiJohnParticipantFrom my observation he’s a physical specimen.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 7:55am #678157

SoilworkerParticipantI liked the work of Royce White, I found very strong physically
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 8:39am #678173

Sewok15ParticipantTerrence Jones reminds me of Thad Young but stronger. I think he could be a steal anywhere outside of the lottery.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 8:48am #678175

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantI think Terrence Jones is a poor man’s Lebron at best, and he could be a Jamal Mashburn / Larry Johnson type too, he’s got some great tools and he can get a lot better with NBA coaching, he’s one of the most NBA ready from a physical stand point and I see no reason why a lottery team wouldn’t pick him
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 9:02am #678178
acantareParticipantIts funny both T Jones and R White are considered 4/3 or 3/4s but they are the most physical of the 4s working out at the combine. I havent been high on either but just seeming there size compared to P3, D Green and Nicholson has me changing my mind a bit. Both will definet 4s not 3s in the nba.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 11:52am #678246

JoeWolf1^You’re 100% right Surve, all the guys, when asked, said it was their agents who didn’t think it was a good idea.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 11:53am #678242

surveParticipantI have addressed this before, but I just hate how all these guys sit out the first day of drills and come on the 2nd day. The problem I have with it is I know the guys want to play, its the fricken agents that sit them out, but then they are still on deck for interviews…and they are NEVER prepared to give a solid answer as to why they arent out there! I mean come on! If the agent is so smart to make you sit out at least he can have a solid statement pre-written for you when you know thats the first question they will ask. Instead, they are making excuses as to why their agents put them into that position. Jeremy Lamb didnt even know what to say. I remember John Wall was the same way.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 12:11pm #678250

surveParticipantwell, it is their agents. these guys really want to play. when I was younger and played in high school, I just couldnt wait to get on the floor and play…during try-outs, practice, etc… I just wanted to play because I loved to play but also, I wanted to show what I could do, especially if it was prove people wrong. I dont believe that any of these guys didnt want to be out there. I really have a problem with showing up for half of the combine. Brad Beal said he didnt participate because he didnt want to risk anything but will be ready tomorrow. If you dont want to risk anything, why show up at all? I say either you do both days or dont do any if you feel it is any sort of risk.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 12:14pm #678261

JoeWolf1Rod Sticktland, Sam Cassell and Joe Wolf were all there too ^
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/07/2012 - 12:14pm #678254

surveParticipantalso, I saw some old faces in the crowd. David Henderson, former co-captain on Duke’s team that reached the championship game (Lost to Louisville). Ed Pinckney, one of the stars of Villanova’s championship team that upset Georgetown and Patrick Ewing.
0- Posted on: Sun, 06/10/2012 - 10:36am #679508

uknationParticipantThis is one reason why you have agents. These are business decisions not decisions that should be made just because you love basketball. Fans may not like it and GMs may not like it but it’s a pretty smart decision if there is nothing at all to gain from doing it.

surveParticipantyou can say what you want but these commentators have been reading on this site and others like it. this is the only place I have heard of the Barnes/Sean Elliott comparison until Fraschilla said it today. there were other comparisons as well. I think we were the first to bring up a lot of these comparisons.
NBADRAFT.NET, where comparisons happen.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 5:18am #678553

JoeWolf1Harrison Barnes was really close to hitting the 12′ mark on the max vert. Maybe 11’7” or 11’8”
Taylor is a really impressive athlete.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 5:30am #678566

JoeWolf1Man, Meyers Leonard has bulked up since the end of the season. His shoulders and upper body is noticably bigger. He must be on the Dwight Howard workout plan because his deltoids look like they’ve doubled in size doubled since the college season.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 5:38am #678573

JoeWolf1Drummond apparently compared himself to Kevin Durant, lol
Hassan Whiteside slipped into the 2nd round because he wanted to be a perimeter player, when his obvious strengths were blocking shots and rebounding.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 5:43am #678575

WizardofOzParticipantWow. Drummond really compares his game to Kevin Durant’s? So on top of all the other red flags, he’s delusional?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 5:46am #678577

JoeWolf1I know, I started laughing sitting while I was sitting on my couch. He’s going to get benched so fast if he tries to be a face up player in the league. I bet Kevin Durant was a 32% FT shooter when he was 5.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 5:51am #678579

I was going to say that about Leonrd. He looks great next to all the other Cs entering the draft.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 6:04am #678587

JoeWolf1There are some long, athletic centers this year.
I wouldn’t be surprise if Drummond, Plumlee, Melo, Leonard and Ezeli all hit 12′ or damn close on the max reach.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 6:22am #678593

McDunkinGlad to see others like tomas satoransky too coming after in at close to 6’8" with shoes while having combo guard skills should make him a 2nd round lock but I have no idea what his contract situation is but I have heard he loves the NBA style of play and wants to play as soon as possible.

WizardofOzParticipantMan I cringe when I see MKG’s interviews. Just so awkward.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 7:37am #678665

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI feel bad for him just I do for Royce White.. Once has anxiety while on air plains and the other has anxiety when in front of cameras..
Both situations make life hard for an NBA player.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 7:54am #678675

chocboywndrParticipantApparently MKG had a bad stuttering problem when he was younger. He is a great kid, and great example for other kids suffering through the same problem
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 8:35am #678696

HaleParticipant"Celtics and Spurs interviewed Drummond??? Could they try to make a play for him?"
Could you imagine how good he would be after sitting behind Garnett or Duncan for a few years? I hate both of those teams, but those would probably be the 2 best places for him to reach his potential.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 10:21am #678745

The8thDeadlySinParticipant@Y2G
I agree that he would be much better if he went to one of those teams. I wonder if either team has enough pieces to move up to get him??
Celtics could send someone both of their first round picks this year, Avery Bradly, and maybe cash or something???
No clue what the Spurs could do unless they are willing to give up Dejuan Blair or Leonard and next years pick or something..
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 10:37am #678756

chocboywndrParticipantAccording to calculation from pic Barnes vertical was like 43 inches(24+19). Thats pretty impressive for a guy the big claim he wasn’t athletic enough to get to basket. The standing vertical is a measurement of explosivness is it not?
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 10:55am #678777

TallmanNYCParticipantI’m sure that Barnes didn’t put up a 43 inch STANDING vertical. Nobody jumps that high from a standing position. If Barnes did that with running jump it would be amazing but at least not unheard of.

D7H7NParticipant - Posted on: Fri, 06/08/2012 - 11:16am #678795

chocboywndrParticipantok lets say it was max vert 43"(running) is still impressive. I was sent that link by a friend that who says math is correct either way I think after the combine watching the testing Barnes athletic ability has been shown to be completlely overblown.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/09/2012 - 3:44am #678982

surveParticipantthat Sean Elliott comparison has been on this board for MONTHS! not just a couple of weeks ago. People were saying that here in Feb or March.
I absolutely was not joking. Why is it unfathomable to think that they dont use all sources, resources, and pay attention to other assessments and opinions? They get paid the big bucks to do this, trust me….they read this site and others like it.
note: there was a boxing website that was in its infancy at the time, but came on the scene breaking a lot of stories. there was also several other websites that have very credible, source info. I know this from boxing….Dan Rafael and ESPN dont know chit. They just have the brand and the viewers/readers. Anyway, duing HBO boxing programming, Jim Lampley for one used to "break" stories or provide info without citing the source…as if they were the source. Well, that one website repeatedly blasted HBO about using their info and not citing them as a source. Shortly after it became a big deal on the web, HBO started citing their website and others as sources.
Not the same as the Sean Elliott comparison, but believe me…..more people read this site and obtain information from it that we realize. A lot of pertinent information comes from little guys like us and little sites like this.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/09/2012 - 8:32am #679056

Wahoo757ParticipantIt’s a nice notion to think that NBA draft analysts are reading the forum, but I find it much more likely that they talk to scouts and GMs across the league. I doubt they’re spending time wading through all the check out my mock threads to find the occassional useful piece of information.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/09/2012 - 9:51am #679077

surveParticipantnot really saying they spend all their time here, but they have sons, friends, etc…that I guarantee read this forum. also you have friends of Barnes and other prospects that read this forum, when in their circles….chatter like this comes out.
trust me, Sean Elliott isnt a comparison that you pull out, even if you watched Elliott and Barnes play, which I did, and I see the similarities. I can say with confidence, that comparison made its way from the posts of this forum onto Chad Ford or whoever’s scouting report, be it directly or indirectly.
Speaking of scouts, I know they have this site bookmarked. Part of scouting isnt just how good a player plays, but how it is perceived their reception from the fans will be. In the technology and social media age now, one would be a fool not to reach out to other mediums and still expect to be ahead of the pack in terms of information.

They are close in height and their games are not exact but similar in some ways so the comparisons were bound to come just like people who compare Perry Jones to Randolph,Odom etc

JoeWolf1Ford Tweeted that Thomas Robinson had a 35.5” max vert and that Damian Lillard had a 36” standing and a 40” max vert.
Those are the only two I’ve heard that leaked.
