Who trades up for Drummond?

Drafting Drummond could get a GM sacked, trading up to get him will just make him lose his job even quicker……

I have seen Drummond just outside the top 10 on a couple of mocks…..

trading up is hard to do. trading up for someone that you have to wait on to develop his offense and FT shooting is even harder since it will get one fired. I say no one cuz Bobcats need scoring

Drummond isn’t a lock for #2, but I don’t think Charlotte will reach for someone based on a team need.

 Charlotte will keep the pick, pick the best player available.  

If that player doesn’t make sense for their team, then I bet they try to swap him for Harrison Barnes, who I feel would be the best player outside of Anthony Davis, for the Bobcats to pick.  Also, a guy who is a reach at #2, so I bet they pick another guy and trade after the fact.

Why all the hate about Drummond? No way in h*ll he falls out of the top 5. IF he reaches his potential, you easily have a team for years that will be contenders. You take that risk! And what mocks has Drummond listed outside top 10? A lot of these mocks are just listing the best players NOW in order, which you can argue he maybe isnt top 10, but again, even if he reaches half of his potential he’ll still be a force on Defense and on the boards. No way he passes Portland…..only reason I wish he does slip, is to fall to N.O. at 10. Could you imagine???? Davis and Drummnd….We’ll call them ‘Double D’s’

i hear and read a lot of these if he reaches his potential, but if he doesnt, thats a deep basement he could end up being. if he doesnt live up to his potential he’ll be having issues with foul trouble, wont be able to score in the NBA outside of Dunks set-up by his teamates and will be a major liability to close out games due to his free throw shooting woes.

Portland is the obvious answer, but I don’t see why some on here have predicted Charlotte to trade down. Trade down? They need the best player they can draft.

^Actually, KHAM 83, you don’t take that risk. Because its a huge risk to take. GM’s want to keep their jobs, so they draft the sure thing. And there are 5 or more players who are "sure thing players" that also have high potential like Drummond. Players like Anthony Davis, MKG, Harrison Barnes, Brad Beal, Thomas Robinson, etc. Every year there seems to be at least one player who goes in the top 5 yet ends up not reaching their potential and that GM ends up paying huge dividends for it. That team has been set back 5 years for doing that. That’s a huge risk to take on a player no one is sure about.

Things might not go Drummond’s way, and when that happens Drummond is known not to do anything about it. Meaning that he will probably have a subpar career just like he did at UCONN. I guarantee you that things will not go Drummonds way, I just hope that he proves us wrong and has the willpower and determination to change that. But no one knows that, so I have to go off of the negative meaning that he "sits and complains" rather than having that willpower and determination to do something about it. Things might not go, Davis’, or MKG’s, or Barnes’, or Robinson’s, or Beal’s way either, but the difference is these players will do something about it. They have that willpower and determination. GM’s know that these players are not going to sit and complain whereas Drummond might. Things are guaranteed not to go a player’s way, its what that player does about it when they don’t that determines what type of player they will be.

And Drummond, imo, won’t bust. I think he’ll be a very good to dominant center in the league. Can defend, rebound, and protect the rim. Sure he has FT woes, and needs to improve his low block game, but those can be worked on over time. He’s lost 20-30 pounds, so he’s putting the work in, and I expect him to only get better.

On Portland he’d really develop.  Nowhere else in the top 5 am I confident in him save maybe Cleveland since they could bring him along slowly.

@PulseGlazer, what about Washington? They have Nene, he could be eased in potentially.

 I think he would take minutes from 22 year old Kevin Seraphin, for Washington.

Seraphin was a 14.3 ppg  7.3 rpg 1.8 bpg player when starting for the Wizards last year.

He went for 3 double doubles and 2 20+/10+ games in the last month of the season alone.  I think he has a lot of promise for a young player and when a team needs help in other areas, why crowd a young guy who’s starting to show some real promise?

 if the rockets get news that meyers leonard and tyller zeller and will be taken before 14, they might do it, even though they they a pg. kevin mcHale would develop drummond nicely

Personally I think it is crazy, and Drummond will go NO LOWER than 6, but realistically if he is working hard, he has a chance to be the BEST player from this draft. 

I like Drummond in Washington a bit, but my main issues there are that team desperately needs shooters, which are available, and Washington utterly failed to develop the similar McGee.

Drummonds is said to have a pretty good basketball IQ and he has good hand size.  Unless he gets hurt or get caught up on drugs, I don’t see him being a bust.  At worst you have DeAndre Jordan with basketball smarts which truthfully is a whole other basketball player. That is like if I said he would be McGee with smarts.  McGee with smarts would be a top 5 center and McGee as he is is definitely not at this moment.
