When I looked at his profile, I was a little bit shocked for one main reason: his defense is underrated. He only gets an 8 on defense, but the thing is that he is one of the best defenders of this draft class. The proof of this is that he won the French League’s Best Defensive Player Title this year, just in front of one of the world’s best defenders, John Linehan.
For those who don’t know Linehan, he won the Henry Iba Corinthian Howard (best defensive player in the NCAA) in 2002, is the NCAA all-time leader in steals, won defensive titles in France (2006, 2010, 2011) and in Estonia in 2009. The most significant thing is that when asked who was the player who gave him the most problems defensively, Kobe Bryant replied "John Linehan". This said, Albicy deserves a 9 or a 10 in this category, and his defense alone makes him an immediate contributor in the league as a backup point guard. He has also some leadership as he led his team to the first place in the french league this season.
Another undervalued aspect of Albicy’s game is his jump shot: he only got a 6. However, his FG% is of 46.9 and his 3 point% is of 35.1 with nearly 4 attempts per game, which honestly isn’t that bad considering that the 3 point line in France is getting closer to the NBA.

All in all, I believe Albicy will be one of the steals of this draft if he’s taken in the second round. What are your thoughts on him?

cidjulianParticipantI too am very big on dude. I think whoever gets him ends up with a HUGE steal because I can just about guarentee theres no way he goes top 25!!! Which I think is a damn shame …. I don’t expect MVPs from him but I 100% believe he can eventually start in the league. I also made a post about dude, check it out ….

RUDEBOY_ParticipantHis height and lack of true point guard skills are the 2 things holding him back..Some say he’s only 5’10…If he measures in at 6 feet, that might help his stock…

iminipandaParticipantI have liked him for awhile. Isaiah Thomas is his proof that guys his size can make it in the league. He is not an elite scorer like a Nate Robinson but has a lot of true pg skills with killer defense. He will be a draft day steal for some team.

MalcolmxParticipantIt’s has been proven these 5’9 and 5’10 players can play in the league just give them a shot. Like you guys are saying I think he is a steal.

Anton123ParticipantI think he could’nt touch the rim during the last combine, that’s kinda very alarming

MalcolmxParticipantWhen Earl Boykins had hit about 30 years old he couldnt touch the rim either but held a job for a good amount of years after that.

cidjulianParticipantHis lack of point guard skills? The man is considered the defintion of what a point guard should be. He controls the pace of the game, can put the ball on the floor, no ones dropping 35 on him and never plays at a pace to fast for his ability.
You’re right about his height, it very well may be an issue in many GMs eyes but until your post, I never heard of anyone saying he doesn’t have true PG skills.

providencefriars1ParticipantWow I never realized Linehan is the all time NCAA leader in steals but hes a little before my time. Any way if you are that small you better shoot the lights out and I dont know if Albicy can do that yet.

FastAndFuriousParticipantHe couldn’t touch the rim? Seriously?

JunkYardDogParticipantalbicy can’t shoot the lights out but he has improved his shooting skills…
he’s a GREAT defensive threat always moving and disturbing you (some linehan in his game for sure).
a good back up, serious professional for several years.

river09ParticipantHe’s a PG with solid PG skills and from his reputation incredible defensive ability.. I don’t see any reason for teams not to like what he brings to the table.. Don’t really see him having an incredibly high ceiling but he does seem like the type of player that you can be confident drafting in the second "knowing" he’ll be solid.

JNixonParticipantHe’s a true PG, he just is not as athletic as he should be at his size to compete in the NBA. And he also has a fairly broke jumper. I do think he’s a really sticky defender though, but many NBA guards will overpower him and will be able to shoot over him.
