OldSkoolBasketballParticipantI don’t like the way Spoelstra is doing by having Lebron guard every position. You can’t have him guard a center and think he would have the energy left for offense.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantSpoelstra is a good coach, don’t get me wrong, but he’s terrible at keeping his players fresh.
LeBron, 41+ MPG and Wade averaging over 38 minutes both while guarding the best player on the other team. LeBron guarding everybody from the point guard to the center. LeBron being switched from center to point guard on different plays. All this while needing to score 30+ PPG in order for this team to have a chance.
What was the point of bringing in Shane Battier if he’s not going to back-up LeBron? Hell, Shane Battier is playing over 30 minutes a game. 40 minutes a game this series!
Can’t he give LeBron a 2 minute rest before the end of the 1st, 2 minute rest at the start of the 2nd. 2 minute rest before half-time. 2 minute rest at the end of the 3rd, 2 minute rest at the beginning of the fourt?
LeBron misses only 10 minutes of game-time while getting rest for about 25-35 minutes of real-time.
Spoelstra did a very bad job of this last post-season and we saw what happened to LeBron when they finally reached the Finals and he’s doing it all over again.
If he’s expecting a different result, it’s not going to happen. I don’t see how LeBron and Wade, while playing over 40 minutes a game and two grueling, grind it out series, will be able to guard a team like the Spurs where LeBron can’t simply "shut down the best player" because they can fire away from all cylinders.

OllstarParticipantMy man played all Game 2 and almost all game 3. Rondo is a beast right now.

nick5354ParticipantI would’nt blame him for having to play Lebron 42 mintues and Wade 38, blame the poor list mangement and bench. If he could give those mintues confidently to bench players he would, however, that is far from the case.

the I in winParticipantLebron’s going to run out of gas soon and have a similar collapse to that in the finals last year, I hate spoelstra

phila9012ParticipantThis is why, I don’t everyone saying lebron sucks and they keep saying he isn’t as good as Jordan, skill wise yes, he just isn’t a clutch shooter,a nd he wont win near as many championships. Those are the people who will never do anything great with their lives, those are the people who have under achieved, they just say things about LeBron so they can feel better about their lives. Don’t be one of those people appriciate LeBron.
LeBron is the most complete player ever(not best), he could be an all star at every postition if he only played that one position. He is getting like 34 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds a night while gaurding everyone on the celtics, and also playing 40 to 42 minutes a night. That is great, and that is consistant. He doesnt have that good of a supporting cast. He is also doing all of that while shooting 50% from the field.
point is LeBron is having a great year and carrying the heat, then wade has one good game and all the stupid people at espn like skip bayless call him batman, LeBron runs the Heat. LeBron is great not the greatest, just apprciate him while he is here because it is a fact he is great.

invalidParticipantLOL if he rest Lebron and Wade like you guys wanted they would lose games which will lead to other thread of "why does he play *insert a heat bench player* instead of lebron because he can guard that position too, they cant afford to lose its the playoffs blah blah". Given spoelstra is not that great of a coach but is it his fault he has been dealt with a not so good bench? i say let lebron and wade grind it and win as many games as possible

TallmanNYCParticipantI think Riley doesn’t know how to recruit and hire bench players. Since he landed the big three, you have to give him props. But he has pretty much failed to deliver quality players in addition to those. But we have to acknowledge that the big three use up a lot of salary cap space. So Riley doesn’t have much to work with.
If Bosh hadn’t gotten hurt, this all wouldn’t be an issue. But with the cap space they had left, there was no way to try to get a low post big man scorer for the bench. So what can the Heat do but play Lebron at the 4 and 5 while Bosh is out?

IndianaBasketballParticipantCoach Spo put LeBron at center out of desperation and it almost paid off. Had the Heat came back and won that game, I don’t think there would be any criticism. They took a 24 point lead down to single digits.
But Bosh being out is the problem here. Just like with everything else, when you take away a key part, the weight load increases on everyone else. Right now LeBron and Wade have to carry a heavy load just to win games. The way this team was constructed was flawed.

the I in winParticipantI never have doubted lebron’s skill, I question spoelstra’s compidency
