AZcats09ParticipantFirst off, I know I’m going to get a lot of negatives for this and I am NOT saying that Rajon Rondo is the best player in the NBA.
But…
When he is at his best he is better than any other player in the NBA at their best. Sounds a little convoluted but just let it sink in for a second.
I would take him over any other player when he is in the zone because of his ability to impact the game on both ends and make everyone around him on offense so much better. I still think LeBron is the best player in the NBA by a wide margin, and Rondo is a fringe top ten player because you still don’t know what your going to get from him every night (although in the playoffs he really hasn’t had any off nights). If he can develop the consistency to play at that top level night in and night out, then there is nobody in the NBA I would rather have leading my team.

cabbycabParticipantYou can say that about a lot of players in the league. Tony Parker comes to mind.

FastAndFuriousParticipantI agree, I said the other day, that when Rondo is playing his best he IS the best PG in the L and can push for the a top 5 spot in the entire L, dude is sick seriously.

AZcats09Participanti love tony parker and when he’s on he has a huge impact on the game but i don’t see him doing the same things rondo does with the ball in his hands.
part of it might be that the spurs can still win if parker has an off day, whereas the celts have absolutely ZERO chance of winning games in the playoffs without an A performance from rondo.

omphalosParticipantI’m Rondo’s biggest fan, had his jersey since the 08-09 season, and while I think Rondo has the best capacity of any player in the NBA to elevate his game in the playoffs, I still think guys like Lebron, Wade, Durant and Rose are better than he is at his best.
I get what you mean that he can match the accomplishments of those players, but I’d settle for saying when he plays his best he is any of their equal, rather than the best in the NBA.
