Where Do The Hornets Go With #10?

 If Perry Jones is there then they probably snatch him up. If he’s gone then I see definitely see them grabbing Lillard or Marshall.

The Hornets have holes everywhere and are in the very early stages of trying to rebuild a roster for the long haul. They need to figure out who they plan to keep out of their FA’s and RFA’s and then likely take BPA.

Perhaps a team like Boston might be willing to trade their 2 picks in the early 20’s to move up to 10?

I’d say they gotta go with Lillard or Marshall. Gordon’s an RFA and the Hornets have a lot of cap space to work with. They do need help with scoring which makes Lillard a good choice but they were also missing Gordon for the majority of the season which should provide a big scoring boost, along with Davis is will be productive. Marshall seems like a perfect fit. It’s almost a dream combo putting Marshall and Davis on the same team. They might be drafting him a little early but it still seems like the right choice.

 I’m from Louisiana today and in the Time Picayune(The New Orleans newspaper), They were speaking about Terrence Ross being drafted at 10. I wouldn’t like that as a Hornets fan but, it’s okay. I want Kendall Marshall, unless they already know we’re losing Eric Gordon, but they said they’d match any offer. So… take it as a grain of salt.

 With the security of Davis at 1 i think they have a greater opportunity to take a risk at 10. Jones is certainly a risk, though i’m confident playing at the 3 position will be key to his development. 

Hornets could use talent and depth at practically every position. They should just grab whichever player is highest on their board at 10.

Imagine Davis and Jones together, but insanely athletic players who are also skilled. I think that Davis’s competitveness would help push Perry Jones and potentially, reaching his ceiling. If both of them played up to their ceiling, the Hornets would be a very scary team, and this does not even include the potential resigning of Gordon.

I’ve got them taking Perry Jones at 10.

woohooooo!!! that’s who i have them taking. i’m really excited to hear that ross is going top 10. with that said, why wouldn’t you be happy?

what if ej decides to leave? how are you going to fill the wing positions? if they get ross, they are not exactly giving up on ej but are taking precautionary measures. ross can come in behind ej and ariza and start over him if things go right. if they get marshall and ej leaves who is marshall exactly going to pass to? 

ross is an excellent pick if you don’t know what ej is doing, which they don’t. 

 you snatch pj3s w/ the #10 no doubt about it, but he won’t be there.

i think Kendall Marshall should be the answer at #10 for them, great leader for a building team, big PG who will be good fit for the undersize Eric Gordon at the backcourt and the creme de la creme – the ultimate partner to Anthony Davis for tons of alley-oop!!

i’d like them to take Lillard if hes available

 I am UNC all day and KMarsh is my dude, and while I would love to see him go 10th overall, if some others are on the board I would go with them first….like PJIII.   I think anywhere after 7th you get great value for PJIII.  I also like Ross to N.O., but you guys may be right, KMarsh may be a better fit in N.O., and Ross would be perfect I think at #11 to Portland.  I am really surprised Sully doesnt get much love….I think this guy is being slept on, I really like his offensive game, he can be a guy who can bang down low and do some pick and pop.  He’s got some range on that jumper, which could help Davis out as well, giving him some room to work for rebounds.

 If we’re losing EG10, take Ross, even though, it’s just my opinion but I like Austin Rivers potenital over Ross’, also Monty Williams may be able to get the full potential out of Rivers, if PJIII is there, take him, that’s great value for number 10, Having him and Davis would be amazing, especially if we keep Eric Gordon, but this league is a point guard driven league. Kendall Marshall will never be D.Rose or Westbrook as a scorer but if he can do what Steve Nash and Jason Kidd have done in their career and make everyone around them better then he’s perfect. Great passers can turn mediocre players into good players, and good players into great players. 

Personally, this is my list. 

1. PJIII if he’s there, you can’t pass up his talent

2. Marshall because this is a point guard driven league and he can make Davis and everyone else better. 

3. Ross or Rivers only if we lose Eric Gordon

4. Jared Sullinger, he and Anthony Davis can have a good inside outside game, and they would be a great rebounding front court. That would then allow us to trade Okafor for a point guard or small forward, or have a sign and trade of Chris Kaman.

We’re flexible, I’ve always been a fan, I’m from Baton Rouge and I go to about 6 games a year, even this year I went to 5. I’m definitely investing in season tickets this year, really excited. 

 If they sign Eric Gordon or not, Terrence Ross would still get a lot of pt and be an immediate impact. at worst he would rotate between Gordon and Ariza and at best he would start at one of those wing positons. PJ3 will be gone. Marshall is another Jack anyways. Lillard’s good- but a pass first pg would be better suited for that front court and there isn’t one available there that’s worth it there. Yeah the NBA is a pg driven league- but pg isn’t the strongest position in this draft. Ross makes the most sense to me. 

PJ3 no doubt, and the best part is that there’ll be no pressure on him, Eric Gordon and Davis will be the ones expected to produce, and his versatility matched up with Davis’, that’s pretty scary. And a 10 and 8 Okafor in the middle with those two in the break, that would be amazing to watch.

In this league, things are easier for players if they have a good PG. Just look at Rondo and the Celtics and Kendall can be that guy for the Hornets. Not saying he’s fast, but I think this guy could become Steve Nash lite for this team. He could possibly help Davis win ROY award this coming season. He may be bad at scoring and defense but he can learn that to the point to be ok at it. But the thing is, with his great court vision and savvy passing. He is someone you would wnt to build around. So I like Marshall to the Hornets. And if for some reason they don’t tke him. Like I said in my other post, I’d love to see him and Ross with the Blazers

Ross and Davis look like a good fit.  Jack is a decent point and Ariza is a decent small forward.  Their starting line up will be set.  They just need to sign some veteran bench players and guys that will challenge their young starters.  Also even with Ross being picked, New Orleans should still consider keeping Gordon. 

Also don’t forget that Aminu is still there and he showed promise his rookie year but did not show much last year.  Next year he could have a break out.  Okafor is not the answer long term at the 5 spot so hopefully they work something out.

I forgot New Orleans had Henry.  I think if Perry Jones is available they should take him.  New Orleans really does not need as much beside veterans and they needed length and should get that with Davis and possibly Perry Jones.  Ross or any shooting guard may not be better than Henry who showed promise in a few games.  I say New Orleans should grab lenght and size.  They can see about moving Okafor for a real big man later.  Also they could resign Kaman and trade Okafor for a point guard.  I would not mind seeing Andre Miller on a 2 year deal.

 I like the Henson idea… Him and Davis together with Gordon at SG looks like a great base for any team in the league. 

If PJ3 is gone I really like that Boston deal. Austin will more than likely be on the board, but not much longer. We all know Doc wants to coach him, and with Ray probably on the way out of Boston the 2 spot is there waiting for him next to Rondo & Pierce.
NO can go down to 21 & 22 and grab Wroten(big PG who can penetrate on anyone and make plays) or even Teague to play next to Gordon. Then draft BPA with the other pick

If they don’t take Marshall (or another player high on their board) at 10, then I would like them to go the risk/reward route and draft Tony Wroten. 

Tony Wroten Jr as he had visible on court chemistry with AD during Jordan Classic game plus TWJr being a big pg he could play next to the shorter but stout Hornet’s SG EGordon.

…and that’s perry jones III… if available. he’s currently going 11th so it’s not as farfetched as a lot of you are making it seem. too much potential to turn down. fills a need (can play either 4 or 3, is a tremendous athlete and talent, although a bit of a project, can come off the bench or make trevor ariza expendable, both pretty attractive options for the hornets.) considering eric gordon is a RESTRICTED FA, i think it’s a pretty safe bet the hornets match any offer for him, especially considering they literally traded the franchise for the guy. the hornets really should’ve used chris kaman’s expiring contract for something; their roster has more holes than–insert awful, inappropriate new orleans joke here–.

     anyone seriously suggesting kendall marshall "because it’s a point guard’s league" is either a heels fan or forgetting this is the 10th pick in a good draft. if you’re a rebuilding team with exactly two set in stone starters (eric gordon and anthony davis), you don’t go after a pass first point guard whose ceiling may be a rich man’s chris duhon. i just can’t justify drafting a point who didn’t average 10ppg in the top ten unless he’s the second coming of jason kidd. and since there’s only been the one; i have my doubts kendall marshall will be that. jarret jack, who will never be a true point, was good last year. 15.6 ppg and 6.3 assists good. he’s serviceable and looks a whole lot better than a rookie point guard who couldn’t score in college. he’ll also look a whole lot better next to a healthy eric gordon. if the hornets want a point, throw a bunch of money at jeremy lin or goran dragic (imagine those two with a healthy eric gordon and anthony davis.) that’s a fine nucleus. now add in perry jones, some good role players like emeka okafor, carl landry, trevor ariza, gustavo ayon, jarret jack and stir. and you have some pretty good nawlins gumbo right there.

     and if perry jones III isn’t available, you ask? if i’m the hornets, i try to trade down for boston’s two picks (#21 and #22) and pick up andrew nicholson and the bpa, maybe meyers leonard if he drops a few spots or one of the vanderbilt kids, jefferey taylor for versatility, john jenkins for deadly spot up shooting off the bench, maybe even festus ezeli or fab melo if the hornets want more size.
