jdubsram-13ParticipantThey have two 1st round picks and a couple coveted guards. I’m thinking they should package a guard and try to go after a big( Bosh, Amar’e, Jefferson etc). If they can get one of these all-star caliber bigs, I think they have a chance to get even farther in the playoffs. If only they had the salary flexibility to sign Boozer.
I’m also hoping that they keep one pick, and draft Nick Calathes. If they happen to package Hinrich, Calathes would be the perfect replacement, a big combo guard.
If they are unable to package for a premier big, then what they should do is draft BJ Mullens, 16th pick, and have him learn from Brad Miller for a year since his contract will be up. With the 26th pick they should still draft Calathes.
What do you guys think?0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/17/2009 - 3:56pm #151064

WritingNBA.blogspot.comParticipantI’m with you on this concept. Mullens gives us someone that can score down-low in spurts when Noah hit the bench. Plus, Nick can play backup for Rose and the 2guard. I’m looking this notion. I’m not all that big on drafting the other guys that can help right away. I’m drooling over what Mullens can be in the future! Keep a eye on Bosh too, Ric Bucher has just reported he’ll be traded this summer if he doesn’t except a long-term contract. Bryan Calengolo likes Loul Deng. I’m thinking a couple combinations can sure us up for Bosh.

derekmorris21Participantdo you think the raps would trade bosh and kapono for deng, tyrus, and hinrich? would chicago do this?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/17/2009 - 4:31pm #151072

llperezI think the Bulls will end up losing Gordon to free-agency. They offered him plenty and he turned it down. Now they have Deng returning and Salmons and Hinrich both are superior defenders who have long term contracts. There is no need to throw the huge money at Gordon when their biggest needs are on the interior.
I have no idea what kind of help they can get down low with the 16th pick but I don’t thinik Mullens is gonna do anything in the next 2-3 years. He was pushed around easily in college and never showed any signs of taking over games. He is weak, has no post moves and can’t face up at this point. He may develop in the future but is all risk right now similar to a Patrick O’Bryant or Julian Wright.
Even if the Bulls don’t make any major moves, they have a lot to look forward to next year with Rose developing and Deng hopefully returning at full strength.

deuce4offIf Terrence Williams is available at 26 thats who they need to draft. Mullens at 16 seems logical, but as a Bulls fan that’s not who I want. I think Mullens is a prime candidate to be a bust. We need to go big with that pick, but the lack of PF’s and C’s in this draft drastically limits that quality of player we will get. All the Bulls need at backup PG is a vet who can fill in 8-10 minutes a night when needed, they really don’t need to look PG in the draft, rather sign a free agent. Was anyone aware we paid Jerome James 6.2 mil this year? I wonder how many double bacon cheeseburgers that bum purchased with all that loot…wtf?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/17/2009 - 5:08pm #151078

jdubsram-13ParticipantI agree that whoever will be the back-up will get limited minutes, but I was thinking that if they would trade Hinrich in a major deal, that they could use a solid combo guard similar to Hinrich and accept only a few minutes here and there since he is just a rookie. Plus, with Calathes being a combo guard if they let Gordon walk, he could also fill in for Salmons as a back-up, assuming he is the starting SG. Also, I dont see Terrence Williams dropping past 20 or 21 with Utah and New Orleans.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 05/17/2009 - 7:28pm #151093
juves4783Participanti agree that calathes is too similar to hinrich. i would like them to draft jeff teague. he’s a perfect replacement for ben gordon. then, i think they should go with sam young. he can step right in and play.

superjackParticipantwat about james johnson?
theres no talk about him. what if bulls pick him up at 16th and trade deng, hinrich and someone (whoever matches contract size) for amare or bosh. both big guys seem that they will get traded and would give an instant boost to bulls inside presence.
1-rose
2-salmons
3-james johnson
4-amare/bosh/jefferson
5-joakim noahwat do u think???

max_sessionsParticipantAt this point I think the Bulls need to put all the pieces together. They don’t need to be younger or need future talent, they need players with experience and with the attitude to win next year. Turn draft pick(s) and Deng/Hinrich into a trade for Bosh. Let Gordon go. I think T Thomas has a bright future but let him go for the right veteran.
I see this team as able to do what the Celtics did last season if they add it all up and make some excellent judgement calls ….. I don’t think Del Negro is the right coach though.

ChiTowns FinestParticipantI was just reading on draftexpress.com that the BULLS are trying trade up to the lottory and there eyeing Wayne Ellington to replace Ben Gordon and make some moves at 16th and land Dejaun Blair and at 26th grab Darren Collison sound like to many young guys to me anybody else heard this info what do you think…????
0 - Posted on: Mon, 05/18/2009 - 10:51am #151173
bujubantonParticipantI see the bulls trading hinrich/tyrus thomas to get a superstar power forward on the team and moving up in the draft. if they don’t trade the picks getting dejuan blair and terrence williams would be good pickups. Resigning Gordon would be a mistake he is a defensive liability plain and simple.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 05/18/2009 - 11:49am #151182
ryan27ParticipantI think you are over-rating some of the Bulls. Hinrich and Deng dont have a lot of value right now because their production doesn’t really match their contracts. I think they would be better off dumping Deng so they have enough to keep Gordon- I like Gordon/Salmons at the 2/3.

leppyParticipantthe bulls are not strapped for cash and they look very good to signing whoever they want for the 2010 free agency. another year to see how everybody develops would be wise. luol deng is the only sf on the team and are only shut down defender on the wing. i dont see how trading him would make us better and i dont see how 12 million a year is a lot for soembody who can average 17pts 7 reb and a top notch wing defender.. hinrich is a perfect backup combo guard with a declining contract and nick calathes cant fit in his jock strap. he would take years to develop into a productive player and i dont think he can handle the ball that well against nba pressure. he won’t average hinrichs assist and he wont ever make the all-defensive 2nd team. defense wins championships and trading are best defensive players in hinrich and deng would not be very smart at all. especially trading for a big man to have him one year earlier. patience. gordan and salmons in the starting lineup equals no defense and no wins.plus gordan wants 12 mil plus a year and its not worth the money. rose will be the go to guy in the fourth. the bulls should look at dejuan blair, james johnson, and chase budinger at 16 in that order. dejuan blair had freakish size. 7’3” wingspan that more than makes up for his lack of height and dominated the best defender coming out of college in thabeet. he can score in the paint and control boards on both sides. he would eat up open rebounds with people collapsing on rose and salmons and is a backup pf which they dont have right now. b.j. bum mullins showed nothing in college and could only average 8.8 pts against weaker competition. he is a 5 year project at best and the second coming of aaron gray. james johnson and budinger are the best sf’s available at 16 and could be a potential replacement for the injury prone deng. deng still needs to prove he can stay healthy. at 26 they should take the best player available in terrence williams, sam young, or hansbrough. psycho t is a perfect role player for any winning team. hes hustles and hits open shots. young and williams give them more depth on the wing and could be possible replacements for salmons when his contract is up in 2 years.
the only trade i think would be worth it is taking a sf with 16 and then trading ty thomas who cant accept his role as a role player and deng who needs to prove he can stay healthy for bosh and graham. kapono and salmons equals too weak of defenders on the perimeter so i like graham better. maybe we could throw in are 2nd next year or the 26th pick this year. if deng gets hurt again next year idk if you could ever count on him being healthy and 3 years of getting hurt in a row will make him near impossible to trade. that being said budinger, james johnson, or graham would have to be are shut down defender, maybe budinger and johnson could start as a rookie and turn into a pretty good defender. they both are long and athletic. and maybe kapono or graham could come off the bench if the rookie is good enough to start.0 - Posted on: Mon, 05/18/2009 - 6:13pm #151255
leppyParticipanti do like amare more than bosh. amare is more of a center but everybody talks about bosh going to chi and idk if amare wants to play in chi.

ctw724ParticipantTop Candidates:
DeJuan Blair, Terrence Williams, Sam Young, Jerel McNeal, Tyrese Rice, A.J. Price, Toney Douglas and Robert Dozier
Top Anti-Candidates:
B.J. Mullens, James Johnson, Chase Budinger, Wayne Ellington, Omri Casspi, Brandon Jennings

ctw724ParticipantI say they will trade up. For who? I’m not sure.
I also think that something will come out about Ben Gordon, Tyrus Thomas and/or Kirk Hinrich. It doesn’t seem like they can keep or want to keep all those guys, so a big trade could be going down.

ctw724ParticipantHow about this sign-and-trade idea?
To New Jersey: Ben Gordon
To Chicago: Bobby Simmons and the 11th pick in the draftI’m willing to bet BG7 wouldn’t mind being traded to New Jersey given it’s close proximity to New York. Plus, they have a pretty good roster. From the Bulls perspective, they would be able to move up in the draft to get someone like DeJuan Blair, as well as add a homtown kid in Simmons, who would strengthen their bench and not hurt their 2010 cap space.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/10/2009 - 6:18am #159762
usfballerParticipantUnless LeBron and Kobe or Melo team up I don’t know who could beat that team.
0 - Posted on: Wed, 06/10/2009 - 7:58am #159743
ctw724ParticipantStep by Step:
#1.) Trade BG7 to New Jersey for Bobby Simmons and the 11th pick in the draft (DeJuan Blair)
#2.) Draft Terrence Williams at #16 or pay cash to whoever gets him before that.
#3.) Draft Sam Young at #26 or pay cash to whoever gets him before that.
#4.) Use Luol Deng, Tyrus Thomas, Tim Thomas & maybe Hinrich in a package to get CB4.
#5.) Sign Salmons, Miller and Hunter to affordable contracts
#6.) Bring Omer Asik to the NBA.
#7.) Sign Dwyane Wade away from Miami in 2010.
#8.) Plan the Victory Parade in Grant Park!!!
Here’s the Roster in 2010.
PG – Rose/Hinrich?/Hunter?
SG – Wade/Williams
SF – Salmons/Simmons?/Young
PF – Bosh/Blair
C – Noah/Miller?/Asik?NASTY!!!! That’s a championship contender for sure.

0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 4:53pm #161544

gatorheelsParticipantWhy does everybody want to trade Tyrus???? Dude is good. I watched him play in college in person and had the chance to meet him. He is a cool dude with a sense of humor. I had never seen anybody get that high up to block a shot like he did in the game I saw. If he continues to work on his jumpshot he will eventually be a star. He has very RARE athletic ability. No way would I want to trade him from my team.
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:10pm #161556
maravich44ParticipantThomas is all that and improving but I would trade him in the right deal. He continues to frustrate the Bulls by taking 15 foot jump shots and missing most of them. You are right. He can jump, but what good is that 15 feet from the basket. Instead of working on his jump shot, he should learn to play in the paint.

- Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:15pm #161562

gatorheelsParticipantI agree he needs to work on his post moves too. I still would never trade him though, a player like Tyrus is hard to find. His ceiling is about as high as anyones. He is still way too young for Bulls fans to give up on him now.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:21pm #161567
maravich44ParticipantI agree with you on talent and ceiling. Watching him make the same mistakes night after night knowing he has all that talent is the frustrating thing for Bulls fans. Also, we traded L. Aldridge for him and he’s already a solid player. they also could have drafted B. Roy with that pick. The thought of Rose paired with Roy makes me salivate.
I wonder what Thomas would bring in return. If he could be a main chip in getting Bosh or Stoudemire, I would do it. He might also be able to bring a top 5-7 pick. something they would have to consider. I’m guessing lots of Bulls fans are so frustrated, they would almost give him away. I would only make a deal if the return were viewed fair value.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:40pm #161595
maravich44ParticipantWhat would Phoenix want for Stoudemire. If we lose Gordon, wouldn’t Barbosa be a nice replacement? How about Stoudemire and Barbosa for Tyrus Thomas, Kirk Hinrich L. Deng pick and 2010 1st round pick? We could draft big guard at #16 and Hansborough if he falls to #26. How’s that for the Bulls activity on draft day?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:45pm #161602

WindyCity23Participanttrade BG now because he is an unrestricted free agent and i doubt a sign and trade would happen. Since it is likely that BG is leaving town, Hinrich can’ be traded because their back court would really thin. The most likely to go is Tyrus. Yes, he did improve during the season but there is still questions about his true potential. The should maybe try to do this…
Minnesota gets: Tyrus Thomas, the 16th pick, and Tim Thomas (expiring contract)
Chicago gets: Kevin Love and 6th pick.Chicago gets the low post guy they need, and Minnesota gets an athletic forward who would fit with AJ much better. Tim Thomas’ contract expires after next season which is very attractive to many teams.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:48pm #161607
maravich44ParticipantI would do that in a heartbeat, but Wolves would laugh at that offer. Wolves did like Hinrich. Not sure if they still do. They could ad him to a deal, especially if we could draft a replacement at #6, like Harden if he falls, Derozan or someone else. That might help get a deal done, and I think I would do that.
0- Posted on: Thu, 06/11/2009 - 5:50pm #161608

WindyCity23ParticipantI’m writing in the POV of a Bulls fan though, so I know that it’s not that great a trade from the Minnesota side. Maybe throw in the 26th pick to sweeten it up.
0
- Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 8:53am #161907
ctw724ParticipantI still would do this.
To Nets: BG7
To Bulls: Bobby Simmons and the 11th pick (DeJuan Blair)Ideally on draft day, I would LOVE to see the Bulls get #11 Blair, #16 WIlliams, #26 Young. The Bulls need to upgrade at PF, so if that means trading Tyrus and Luol to get Amar’e or Bosh, they should. If the Bulls get Bosh, I believe they get Wade. Wade and Bosh with Rose make them instant title contenders.

gatorheelsParticipantIf the Bulls get Blair, Williams, and Young….they would be LOADED.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 9:32am #162151
maravich44ParticipantWith Aaron Gray, the Pitt reunion party could be held in Chicago. Has anyone from that school had a successful NBA career? Charles Smith comes to mind, not that he was so special.

maravich44ParticipantAbsolutely not. Judging by your screen name it might mean more to you that these guys played there than it does to me. If they can help the Bulls win some games, I’m in!
0 - Posted on: Fri, 06/12/2009 - 11:28am #162234
ctw724Participanthelp the Bulls fill some needs and get some wins.
Blair-TWILL-Young…that’s who the Bulls should go after.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/14/2009 - 2:26pm #164219
ctw724ParticipantWhat do you think of these two potential trades?
#1
To Nets: Ben Gordon (who doesn’t seem to want to play in Chicago, but near N.Y.)
To Bulls: Bobby Simmons and #11 Pick (who need a BIGGER GUARD)#2
To Golden State: #16 Pick and #26 Pick (who are looking for a PG and wing player)
To Bulls: #7 (who need a Big-Man)Why?
Well, with #7 they can draft DEJUAN BLAIR, who they like and need very much and at #11 they can take TERRENCE WILLIAMS, who they need and like very much. They probably can’t get Blair unless they trade up, while G.S. can certainly get a PG and wing player by trading down. N.J. could use BG7 to play next to Devin Harris and the Bulls will most certainly be able to draft TWILL at #11.
I kind of like it.
Feedback?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/14/2009 - 3:31pm #164276

gatorheelsParticipantLet Gordon go, save that money. Use the money you have to sign Rashad McCants & Big Baby. Golden State will not give up the 7th pick for two later 1st round picks. There is too much talent at #7.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/14/2009 - 3:36pm #164285
ctw724ParticipantChances are, if the trade the pick to the Bulls they might get Jennings at #16. They also are really high on Budinger and he is projected to be available at #26. Don’t forget this is a PG’s draft. Guys like Lawson, Teague, Maynor, maybe even Holiday and Jennings could all be availabe at #16. Let’s not forget Collison, Mills and Douglas who will be around at #26.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/14/2009 - 3:39pm #164293

gatorheelsParticipantNo way Holiday or Jennings is available at 16. Golden State would have to think would they rather have Budinger & Mills or Curry. Trust me they want Curry.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/14/2009 - 5:49pm #164527
ctw724ParticipantThat works for everyone involved.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/14/2009 - 7:23pm #164596

marcusfizer21ParticipantI would still think about a DeAndre Jordan trade…(it has a slim chance but I am hping for it)
As far as I am concerned, I think they’ll keep the picks… DeJuan Blair is the only way to go at 16, man… If none is coming how about a trade for the 16th pick…
26th pick is tough but I would want them to pick the best player available..this draft is so unpredictable they only way to go is to guess(except for Blake Griffin to be chosen by Clips, unless they’d go 1998 all over again and trade him for Thabeet)
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 3:18am #164651
ctw724ParticipantWith BG7 being from N.Y., he would probably welcome a trade to N.J.
I can’t see the Clippers giving up DeAndre Jordan. That just isn’t going to happen. They will probably deal one of their veteran three, Kaman, Camby or Randolph, but not DeAndre.
They SHOULD go after both Blair and Williams. Like I said, trade BG7 for #11 (take Blair) and draft Twill and #16. Personally, I would feel more secure if they could trade up to #7 by offering #16 and #26, and end up with both #7 and #11.
That would secure them landing Blair and Twill.0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 8:55am #164869
ctw724ParticipantThere seems to be a lot of repeated topics involving the Bulls on draft day. Can’t we just stick to one?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 06/15/2009 - 9:02am #164881
ctw724ParticipantWho should the Bulls take at #16 and #26 already exists there. Why keep repeating ourselves?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 06/18/2009 - 5:06am #167212
ctw724ParticipantApparently, there are only four teams that have interest in DeJuan Blair.
-Milwaukee
-Charlotte
-Indiana
-ChicagoNow, given Milwaukee’s history with Tractor Traylor and their need for a PG, I can see them passing on him. Charlotte really needs a SG more than a PF, so if they pass on him it wouldn’t surprise me one bit. Indiana could use a PG or a PF, but if their hometown boy, Jeff Teague, is sitting there, I can’t see them passing on him. That would mean DeJuan Blair falls right in the lap of the Chicago Bulls, who really LOVE this guy. I’m keeping my fingers crossed!!!
DeJuan Blair = Chicago Bulls

DeJuan Blair vs. Tyler Hansbrough vs. James Johnson
http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/compare?add=23-james-johnson&p1=dejuan-blair&p2=tyler-hansbrough
Blair has the better all-around stats and game. He would be a PITTBull in the Paint for the Bulls.
#2 – Wing Defender
Sam Young vs. Terrence Williams vs. Chase Budinger vs. Wayne Ellington vs. Gerald Henderson
It’s really kind of a toss up. TWILL is probably the better all-around player, but Young and Henderson aren’t far behind. Personally, I would favor TWILL and/or Sam Young. Either one is sure to be a PITTBull on the Perimeter for the Bulls.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 06/20/2009 - 6:11pm #169406
chibulls88ParticipantA. PITTBull please take it easy on the coffee. We get it you like “PITTBulls” Blair and Young. Blair has already been talked to death so I’ll comment on Young instead. Hes 24, his upside is small and he may not be able to be more than a role player. Some of the other players have the time to develop and could be better down the road.
B. Deng and Hinrichs contracts would total about $20 mil for next season. Thats roughly $4-5 mil more than Bosh or Stoudemire. We would only have to trade one plus a young guy(s) and maybe an expiring contract.
C. Im in favor of trading Thomas since he thinks hes a small forward when we need him to play POWER forward. No more 15 to 20 foot shots. He also is too small to hold up in the low post so unless he gains 20 pounds he should be gone. Ive also heard from ESPN.com hes a little disgruntled so we may have to ship him out anyway.
D. No way we can sign Wade Bosh and Rose plus other decent players without going way over the luxury tax. I dont know if the Bulls would be willing to do that though it would be a ridiculous line up. (PITTBulls plan does sound good though there may be trouble signing Wade. I think there are rules to signing FA when you are over the cap)
E. We should only draft a PG if we immediately ship him out in a trade. I like Hinrich as a backup PG who can also play SG. No need to waste a first round pick on someone who would barely see the court.
F. I dont know what to make of Salmons. For the next two years we have a good player for a good contract but what happens when its up. How much will he ask for? He could suffer from Gordon Syndrome and think hes worth $10-12 mil.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 06/21/2009 - 5:55am #169589
ctw724ParticipantThe Bulls can have Rose-Wade-Bosh on the same team, if they go to a Lakers, Celtics and Spurs size payroll. Winning isn’t cheap, so step up John Paxson, Gar Forman and Big Jer. Those are the last 3 NBA Champs. They all have 3 stars on there team and they all have high payrolls.
They would have to get rid of BG7, Deng and Thomas to make this happen, among other guys. I have shown how to do this several times on here already.
DeJuan Blair and Sam Young fit the Bulls needs quite nicely, so they are worth talking about.

ctw724ParticipantJohn Paxson and Gar Forman,
Do you want HEART, TOUGHNESS and INSTINCTS (DeJuan Blair) or HEIGHT, POTENTIAL and LOW BASKETBALL IQ (B.J. Mullens…aka Eddy Curry)?
#16
The choice is easy…it’s DeJuan Blair. I’m tired of hearing about his size and his knees. The kid bounced back from his knee issues by winning a state title in high school, then freshman of the year in the Big East, then player of the year in the Big-East (after dominating the likes of Thabeet, Monroe and Harangody), and now he’s headed to the NBA. You shouldn’t try to predict injuries or judge measurements, just go with what you see during 5 on 5 action. This kid is what I like to call a “PITTBull” in the paint. Not only is that a clever play on words, but more importantly it’s the truth.
I figure his NBA career puts him somewhere between Paul Millsap and Wes Unseld.

Again, the choice is easy. The Bulls need TOUGHNESS, ATHLETICISM and SIZE on the perimeter. That’s Sam Young. Coincidentally, he also went to Pitt and played with DeJuan Blair. No, I’m not an alum there. I just know who the Bulls need. This guy can defend the perimeter, finish on the break, scrap for rebounds, block shots from behind and spot up, then knockdown a jumper. On top of all that, he grew up a BULLS FAN idolizing Michael Jordan. That’s why he wore #23 at Pitt. Much like Blair, I see him as a “PITTBull” on the perimeter. Again, a clever play on words, but also the truth.
I figure his NBA career puts him somewhere between Shane Battier and Michael Cooper.
So, to wrap up.
Forget “BEST PLAYER AVAILABLE” or make that “BEST POTENTIAL AVAILABLE” and GO GET yourself two “PITTBulls”….DeJuan Blair and Sam Young!!!
* It gives you VERSATILITY to match-up against any front-line style in the league.
(Also, trade BG7, post draft for Terrence Williams!!!)
