McDunkinMichael Jordan delivered yet another L to Patrick Ewing, by personally informing him that he’s no longer being considered for the coaching gig in Charlotte.
Reports Yahoo! Sports:“After an interview with Charlotte management, owner Michael Jordan personally reached out to Patrick Ewing to tell him he’s been eliminated as a candidate to coach the Bobcats, a league source said. Charlotte is waiting to see whether it will win the NBA draft lottery on Wednesday night and get the chance to draft Kentucky’s Anthony Davis before it begins a second round of interviews for the opening, sources said. Golden State assistant Mike Malone, ex-Portland coach Nate McMillan and Hall of Fame coach Jerry Sloan are among the most prominent candidates for the job. Ewing, an assistant coach for the past five seasons in Orlando, is a close friend of Jordan’s, and that may have actually worked against the Hall of Fame center in the hiring process. Jordan has been subject to biting criticism for hiring too many cronies and “yes” men through the years, and merely inviting Ewing for the interview started to inspire those kind of shots at Jordan again.”

GlenTaylorSucksParticipantBest possible career move for Ewing, as he doesn’t have to worry get sucked into Jordan’s hellhole, XD

CynthiaParticipantUnfortunate for Ewing, but probably a wise move by Jordan to keep people off his back over the hiring only friends issue. However I think he could have at least let him slip into the second round of interviews, especially if they do indeed land the #1 pick. We all know Ewing could be a great coach for Anthony Davis.
All in all I can’t say I’m shocked, and while I feel bad that Ewing didn’t get a head coaching spot, I’m happy he didn’t have to coach the worst team in NBA history.

Memphis MadnessParticipantMan, I hope the Bobcats get the fourth pick. Not a big fan of MJ’s leadership. I want Anthony Davis to go to a team that can really develop him and build a winner around him. Not sure that that would be the Bobcats.

IndianaBasketballParticipantMichael Jordan actually made a great decision.
I don’t think this would’ve been a good fit for the Bobcats or for Ewing.

UNCbasketballbumParticipantMJ asked Ewing who he thought the Bobcats should take with the first pick if they win the lottery. Ewing said Anthony Davis. Jordan said he’d take Royce White and that he couldn’t hire Ewing due to conflicts of interest.
