The Clippers picked up Vinny Del Negro’s coaching option through next year. I’m pretty surprised. They didn’t even make a run at Phil Jackson or Stan Van Gundy or anyone. That team has a ton of potential, I don’t think think Vinny Del Negro can bring it out.

I really don’t know what to think of this, other than that maybe they feel VDN is a young coach and they would like to see him grow with this team? The Clippers wanted to save money? They should’ve made some pitches to the FA coaches out there before making a decision like this.

VDN is a terrible defensive coach and this team needs to learn to play D to really compete.  This is a huge mistake and if I’m Chris Paul a reason to test the free agent waters.

Hot Seat… He has a lot of pressure on him this year.

Horrible decision. Chris Paul said all the right things during his post game comments, but his body language was telling an entire different story. There were so many better options that it just doesn’t make any sense to do this.

Agreed. If he doesn’t produce well next season, it’s his job to lose.

Anybody left wondering what this team would be like with Jerry Sloan as their coach?  I mean, Sloan’s system needs a good PG and PF.  Stockton-Malone, Williams-Boozer, can you imagine Paul-Griffin?

Tyrober – Seriously? Chris Paul’s body language? Got any proof to back that up?

I think that the Clippers are waiting to see if there are or will be better potential candidates next year to replace Vinny De Negro.

Mitch Lawrence of the NY Daily News reported that Stan Van Guny is going to take the 2012-2013 year off, so the Clippers can posssibly take a run at him in 2013-2014.

I felt kind of bad for him when he got canned by Chicago, but I think this is just a guy who as I say, "He’s not a war time consigliere". They need Genco Abbandando and they are giving Tom Hagen an extension. Tom is a nice guy, you like and root for him, but he does not get it done in grind time. He is the guy you send to talk to the person reasonably, not come up with the idea of putting a horse’s head in their bed (I am pretty sure Genco invented that $hit).

Either way, while my reference may be over the heads of some (Just watch/read The Godfather, than you will understand. I am "mikeyvthedon" for a reason, after all, lol), I think this is a mistake. Vinny is going to be in the line of fire constantly and his spot will in no way be safe enough for the Clippers to do real damage. I have to say, like TOL’s Jerry Sloan idea. Hadn’t thought of that, but it would be damned interesting. Jerry may not have a ring, but he made SO many teams MUCH better than they should have been. Clippers would be an interesting place for him.

Well, in the end, how can one be surprised they made the wrong move? They are the Clippers. Getting Chris Paul was a 1/1,000,000 shot. The rest is usually spent with f#cking up gloriously. As long as they have Donald Sterling, that should be their tag line.

I don’t think VDN is the answer in Tinseltown.  The Clips offense against the Spurs was so predictable, way too many pick and rolls and not enough ball movement.  I don’t know how much of this was Vinny’s coaching or if it was the Clippers inexperience paying with each other but something drastic needs to change before next year.  Deandre Jordan needs to develop some post moves and Blake needs to add some polish to his offensive game.  VDN will be under a ton of pressure to probably make it to the conference finals next year.

Huge mistake. VDN’s system has no offensive sets and that’s why his teams struggle to score in the 4th quarter.

One thing that went completely unrecognized during the Clips-Spurs series was that Del-Negro played for Pop for two years in 97 and 98.
