PrecociousNeophyteParticipantRoscoe Smith is headed to Vegas. A month after getting his release from UConn, Smith, who played an important role on the Huskies’ championship team, committed to UNLV. Smith’s father gave the news to CBSsports.com. Smith’s unfortunate heaves with the clock running down will live long on YouTube, but he should be remembered in these parts for all he did in that unforgettable March of 2011. … Looks like the Huskies are missing the boat in 2013. Promoters of The Carrier Classic, which has become a bit of a quagmire in recent weeks — with UConn folks cooling off — are closing in on a deal to stage the game with Ohio State and Marquette, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

mikeyvthedonParticipantDon’t even think they can be called a sleeper any more. They are building a stacked front court, not to mention having some nice scoring guards. This team will have big expectations and a lot of length with Mike Moser, Anthony Bennett, Khem Birch and now Roscoe Smith. Anthony Marshall, Justin Hawkins and Katin Reinhardt are a nice back court, know I would be glad to have any of them on my team. They lost a few valuable pieces, but this should be another strong year for Runnin’ Rebel basketball, hopefully getting a couple of rounds into the tourney this time.

MalcolmxParticipantDon’t forget their most slept on recruit Demetrius Morant,he is 6’9 with a 7’2 wingspan and a nasty vertical. Went to high school with Shabazz Muhammad. That front court is going to be really good.
