Your the GM of the Cleveland Cavaliers, you have the 4th pick in the draft. For argument sake, Davis, Drummond, and MGK are all off the board.

Who do you take? I think it comes down to Beal or Barnes. I know Cleveland wanted Barnes last year, but he didn’t come out.

What would you do this year?

     Beal! I take Beal.

Alonzo Gee has made some huge strides in his game and he isn’t a liability any more, Anthony Parker on the other hand is OLD and Manny Harris is really the only other option at SG, so SG is a bigger need

Also Beal can strech the floor (Gee-Thompson-Varejao means no quality shooting apart from Irving), he is a tough guard and will fit very well in the system

Beal without question. Its not even close either if Drummond, MKG, and Davis are off the board. Things get tricky if they get the #2 pick, because I think Beal, MKG, and Drummond would all be good fits. I think Barnes would be a good fit too, but there are others that will be more talented that him on the board.

Cavs need a wing scorer, a legit C, a SG, and a backup PG, in that order.  With four picks in the top 35, I would use all of them (unless moving up, none of that "for future pick" crap).  Barnes with the top pick, Fab Melo with the 24th, and use second rounders on some seniors (Crowder, Buford, Kevin Murphy, Machado).
Barnes’ stock fell, but I still feel he’s a premier talent, and a safe pick.  Melo has a lot of room to improve, but all I really need him to do is be big, play D and grab boards.

Maybe try to get Rudy F as a free agent.

Really doesnt matter for the Cavs, they need everything except a PG..and they could still use a good backup

Beal and Barnes both would help them tremendously

    Real beal.

The only thing he lacks is an inch, i give him mine…

Barnes lacks more than that, plain and simple.

    …..Barnes.

Cleveland still likes him and he and Kyrie are good friends.  From a comfortability level…..they are like Durant/Westbrook in terms of their friendship.  One will want the other around…important when it comes to re-signing.

Barnes and it isn’t even close. Barnes’ laid-back mentality and unwillingness to assert himself in games will give he and Irving a chance to form a real partnership over the years with Irving as Batman and Barnes as Robin, similar to Durant and Westbrook except that the more dominant personality is also the first option.

Also, as surve said, small-market teams need to be thinking about how their potential star players will get along down the track if they want to be keeping them, you can’t fight the fact that players want to play together now, so draft them together like OKC did, and then dare them to give a good reason to leave.

Another thing that we may not be taking into account.  In addition to Barnes and Irving being close friends….they dont share the backcourt.  In the past couple of years we have seen some friction between backcourt mates.  Ellis/Curry and Miller/Roy immediately come to mind.   Not saying Beal wont fit but he will handle the ball some and when he becomes a star, whos to say he and Kyrie wont have friction.  I think the chemistry for Kyrie and Harrison is perfect…particularly being that Barnes doesnt have an ego and is very unselfish and doesnt mind defering to Batman as omphalos said.

Drummond for sure.  With the right coaching he could turn out to be the best player from this draft.

They gotta take Beal, they reallly missing is a legit shooting guard…Unless MKG or Drummond is left on the board Beal is the best bet for this team

I think jeremy lamb is the best option..he has more potential than beal and his second-banana attitude is perfect for a pairing with kyrie..and with gee being a little bit undersized he can make up for it (I dont like a 6ft2in 6ft4in 6ft6in 6ft8in varejao starting lineup)…also he is at his best playing off the ball so he can allow kyrie to develop his pg skills more..in addition to these a possible byron scott heavy pick’n’roll system will be greatly benefited from his presence

If MKG, Davis and Drummond are off the board, I take Thomas Robinson… and its not even close. I know its not a position of need for Cle, but I’m going BPA and I’ll worry about roster make up via trades afterwards.

Beal is the backcourt mate of the future for Kyrie.

Barnes and it isn’t even close? Silly.
