In a post game interview Bynum stated, when asked about his future said that he would be play anywhere. If he’s not outrightly displaying loyalty I’m anticipating a flood of Bynum/Howard trade rumours.

Bynum likes to make bold comments that get media attention.

Orlando would be stupid to turn down a trade for him if Howard refuses to sign an extension.

Dwight really doesn’t want to be in LA, he’s desperate to avoid comparisons to Shaq, so it’s hard to see this happening. The threat of being traded to LA was enough to make him opt-in to that contract if the rumours are to be believed.

I still think Orlando should just bite the bullet and take a chance on Dwight sticking around through free agency. With Van Gundy and Smith gone, they might be able to bring in a coach who will get more out of Dwight and build a team that’s actually designed for post-season success, instead of just living/dying by the three ball.

LA refused to offer both Pau and Bynum and at this point I doubt they’d really be offering even Bynum given Dwight’s major injury.

Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel reports on a trade that would see Dwight Howard, Hedo Turkoglu and Jameer Nelson go to the Los Angeles Lakers for Pau Gasol and Bynum. Schmitz then writes on a third team in the mix:

"A third team, the Toronto Raptors, could be part of the deal or in a separate trade with the Magic, sending PG José Calderon to Orlando."

there were rumors about a deal like this going down, even chris brussard reported on something like this

That’s reportedly what the Magic were asking for with the Lakers consistently balking at offering both of the frontcourt guys, at least according to ESPN.

This trade is too perfect and needs to happen. The Magic can’t get a better return for Howard than Bynum. It’s time for both of them to see a change of scenery. Howard wants to go to a bigger market and Bynum just needs to go.

The Lakers obviously win this trade, but the Magic have to do it or it’s going to be 2011 all over again and the Magic will end up with literally nothing.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Bynum AND Gasol are both involved in the same trade like a lot of posters anticipated earlier in the season.
