Anyone else think he is seeing way to much time in this series. In my eyes he is playing just awful. 2 travel calls yesterday, dumb loose ball fouls every second time down the floor. Average defence. I have think they should try out Jeff Pendergraph, who at least brings out some shot blocking.

He’d be a lot more effective if he wasn’t such a chucker.  If he curbed his habits of wanting to shoot all the time and focused on energy and rebounding he’d be a better player. A 6’9” power forward who shoots 40% is just plain awful.

Hansbrough is better than Jeff Pendergaph, but he needs to know his role, and it’s not being a 1st option when he’s on the floor like it was at UNC. Being a bench spark is one thing, but he needs to be smarter.

Who the Pacers really miss is Jeff Foster.

Hansbrough hasn’t played well, but he’s a better player than Pendergraph. The Pacers should and will stick with him. I mean, he’s only playing like 12 minutes per game.

Yea, Hansbrough can be a black hole. I mean, we’re talking about a guy who has only 99 assists in 3 years.

I think he could have a mini Tebow effect on the Bobcats next season alongside Harrison Barnes(I don’t think The Bobcats get the # 1 pick in The Lottery)

If the Bobcats offered the Pacers Tyrus Thomas and a conditional pick for Tyler Hansbrough and Lance Stephanson would you Pacer’s fans be OKAY with it…

I’m very disappointed to see that he doesn’t develop his game : still doing the same step in the middle of the paint, no left hand, only scoring on the line (FT), no move down low, still NO mid range shoot…

I was waiting for more from him… than just energy. And a guy like that should develop a deadly mid range shoot (à la haslem or pj brown) if he wants to get PT.

That second traveling call was somewhat questionable, I don’t know if he really had possession when he shuffled his feet

Hansbrough imposed his will and strength in college.  He obviously can’t do that in the NBA.  Since so few Pacers games ever come on, the only time I’ve seen Hansbrough play in the NBA was when he had those 2 walks in a row when he shuffled before he made his move last game.  He has limited potential due to his average athleticism, but as people here have said, he should be bringing out effort in defense in rebounding.  He had a very good mid-range jumper at UNC, but from what it sounds like on here, he hasn’t been hotting it consistently.  It doesn’t really surprise me he doesn’t pass often since he rarely ever got assists at Carolina.

@Indy: Jeff Foster stopped being valuable a few years ago. Towards the end, he could barely lift his arms over his head.

+ Short-armed, hustling power forward with good strength and scorer’s mentality.

+ Can jump, but struggles to finish. Likes taking line-drive, low release 15-footers.

+ Lacks length, but quick for size and defends pick-and-roll. Zero court vision.

Rumors persist that Hansbrough assisted on a basket once, though nobody is sure of when. Only three power forwards had a lower assist ratio, particularly damning in Hansbrough’s case since he operated out of the high post a lot and dribble-penetrated fairly often.

What he can do is score. Quick and strong, Hansbrough averaged a point every two minutes despite struggling to finish in the paint and possessing a herky-jerky line-drive jump shot. But while the jumper doesn’t look like much, he has a quick release and is fairly accurate, making 43.3 percent of his 16-23 foot jumpers last season. Meanwhile, his physicality and hyper shot fakes enabled him to draw fouls at a high rate, where he converted a strong 77.9 percent.

Defensively, Hansbrough is a bit short and never blocks shots, but his quickness and physicality make him an asset overall, especially in pick-and-roll coverage. He just can’t be asked to guard long post players 1-on-1 because they play right over the top of him.

Hansbrough had a dunk blocked and the ball flew right into Danny Granger’s had for a three.  Scorekeeper gave him a dime on that one.

Hansbrough is a solid shooter, but the mid range jumper is the most inefficient shot in basketball.  He would help his team more if he didn’t automatically shoot whenever he got the ball.

The Pacers are really deep on the perimeter, but their lack of depth down low is hurting them.  Hansbrough and Amundson just aren’t great back-ups for a playoff team.  The Pacers need to address that issue in the offseason.

     @TomShoe,

I love the analysis, but the crazy thing is that a lot of those ideas about his size and athletic ability were proved wrong!  He shouldn’t be as ineffective, he’s got a 7′ wingspan and a 34” vertical, lol.  I think he may be pretty dumb, to be honest, I have no proof other than hearing him in interviews.

Sullinger is a far better passer and rebounder who gets his points more of skill than motor.  Sullinger is better back to the basket and has a better J.

    WTF I’m BANNED

i know he’s a lil better all around but there are similarities, even on defense. sully has a nice back to basket game but is more dependent on strength as opposed to true skill, i would say overall he uses motor a lot, prolly hand in hand with skill.

they will be drafted around the same range, 13. except sully might fall out of the lotto because this is a stronger draft.
