How should the Clippers attack the Spurs D?  It’s obvious that they are taking the ball out of Paul’s hands and eliminating the pick and roll and making other guys such as Griffin, Bledsoe, Jordan, Butler and Mo Williams beat them.  It would really help if Blake had a consistent mid-range jumper, but that’s not part of his arsenal yet.  Can the Clippers rebound after the embarrassing game 1 loss?

I know it seems silly but this team obviously wasn’t ready yet. The only reason why they are here, is because of suprise performances, and CP3 himself hiding their flaws. If Griffin and Jordan had a legit post game these games would be much more competitive. Clippers will be a force in the near future but they are not ready. Only way I see them even winning one game is if someone gets red hot from either three, or the Clippers execute flawlessly.

I get frustrated to no end, because I watch this team and you know just how better they could be. But its obvious that they’ve out-grown Coach Vin, and that their two highlight reels are unfinished products.

Unless the Clips rebuilt their entire way of playing basketball in the last 48 hours I don’t see how they don’t get swept.

Every player in the Spurs starting 5 passes the ball well… and has good hands. You cant play zone against a passing team so you have to play them man to man.

The Clips are a weak outside shooting team and their FT shooting stinks aswell. It was obvious last game that the Spurs really need to focus on only 2 defense points to neutralize the Clips. Limit the pick and roll and kill inside the paint scoring. Conversely the Clips were trying to get out in transition for easy scores which is an admirable tactic but not a sustainable strategy for a win. Its more of a complimentary play. Nick Young needs to reign in his JR Smith shot selection. The Spurs take quality shots every trip down the floor. For every off balance shot the Clips take its a win for the Spurs.

Bascially, the Spurs play extremely well as a TEAM. A unit which is better then the sum of its parts…and they have a lot of good parts. Although the Clips may get to that level eventually, it won’t be this year.

Like OKC against the Lakers 2 years ago… the Clips just aren’t ready yet.

The problem for the Clippers isn’t on offense, they don’t have the defense capable of slowing the Spurs. A team cannot be in position to win playoff games when giving up 87 points in three quarters. San Antonio just put on a clinic offensively because the Clippers defense is a joke. The problem for LA is that the Spurs will always get those easy shots and points throughout games because they have the roster that is smart, skilled, talented, and unselfish enough to expose them. Even if the Clippers continue to take what the Spurs give them offensively, they are not going to be competitive unless they show a consistent ability to get stops. A team cannot possibly give up 29 assists in a playoff game. It should be outside the realm of possibilities.

Aside: Anyone else shocked the whole regular season drum beat by some that Tim Duncan isn’t great anymore seems to have gone away?

Unless Chris Paul gets back to 100% healthy the Clips win no more than 1 game. The Clippers pick and roll has never really been that good. Griffin always tries to slip it and defenses know that and he can’t pop because he has no jumper. He never really sets good hard screens. And like I said CP3 just isn’t right physically. He is still awesome but we have seen what he can doin the playoffs and this isn’t it.
