Kawhi Leonard down the road

He reminds of Shawn Marion, but he needs a very good pass-first PG in order to put up similar numbers. I can see him getting 7-8rpg with 15-16ppg which to me is pretty good for a 15th overall pick, not to mention great D player. I just don’t see him as an efficient off ball catch and shoot player or a guy that can go one-one and create for himself. He will get his points from a system that allows him to spot-up and shoot and by hustling from getting out on the run and rebounding on offensive end.

 I don’t think he’ll be an Allstate, but I have no doubt he will be a guy that every coach wants on their team. You can’t teach what he knows

I"m so fucking jealous, I wish the Kings could of picked up a quality small forward like that. 

Regarding his future, it really depends on two things: the team he will be on and if he can develop a consistent shot. He made all his three pointers against the Clips, but this is more an exception than a rule. I love his defensive tenacity and the way he read plays, but for now I see him as a defensive specialist on a good team and a starter on a mediocre team.

He reminds me of Luol Deng, and I can see him having a similar career path; solid starter, gets a little better every season, is a great defender, and will sneak onto a couple of All-Star teams.

skill wise, style and nature of play he remind me Andre Iguodala, less explosive some.

KayJay – the Kings are the Kings because on a team full of iso-guys they went and got a questionable iso-1 in Jimmer rather than a team guy.  The Spurs are the Spurs because they get guys who fit their team and system.

I doubt  Kawhi is ever an All Star, but he could easily end up in a game or two on the Deng, Igoudala level of player (not that they have similar games, just a similar level of quality).

I didn’t know he was such a great shooter or that his game would transition to the perimeter so well.

Looking back on it though, I still think the Pacers made the right move to trade him to the Spurs since they already had Paul George.

a better rebounding version of Bruce Bowen. He is being used in the Spurs system similiar to how they used Bowen. Also, based on how his shot is progressing I could see him as a more athletic Shane Battier as well.

TPB – you’re wrong.  Kawhi is used a ton off cuts, particularly off ball.  He’s got a bigger part in the offense than Bowen ever did.  If Bowen dribbled twice, he was doing something wrong, generally.

He reminds me of Crash Wallace.  Tough nosed defender, long, physical small forward a guy who, down the line, is a boarder line All-Star and All-Defensive guy.

 Funny, I guess I wasn’t the only one impressed with him this year.  I even had him on my fantasy team this year, for only a short time because he didn’t put up great numbers, but he was eligible as a SG, SF, and PF.  That’s pretty rare.  You know, that system guy stuff is great, but sometimes you get a guy like Jimmy Butler who will always be a BENCH system guy.  I think though if you draft guys who are 10+ year NBA guys you are successful in the draft.  I think the Spurs excel at that.

 He reminds me a little of the late Andrei Kirilenko. Plays tough D, can hit the three, and gets a lot of offensive rebounds. He isn’t as good as Kirilenko, but he fits the mold of that role player who just does a little of everything.
