TRC1991ParticipantWhat type of contract will Gordon earn this offseason? Rumor has it that he wants 5 years and 80 million but the NBA-controlled Hornets have been rumored to only want to offer 4 years… I personally believe Gordon’s worth 80 mil over 5 years and New Orleans cant afford to not retain him… opinions?

Speaking of the Hornets, they had an awfully crowded frontcourt this past season. Kaman, Landry and Daryl Watkins have expiring contracts. I’m assuming Kaman and Watkins wont be retained whilst Landry probably will. That leaves New Orleans with a frontcourt of: Carl Landry, Gustavo Ayon, Lance Thomas, Jason Smith, and *sigh* Emeka Okafor… While that frontcourt isn’t entirely miserable, it certainly ranks as one of the worst in the league. Maybe New Orleans retains Kaman… opinons?
—–
Is Jarrett Jack the future point guard for the Hornets? Is, dare I mention it, Greivis Vasquez in the future plans? What about Trevor Ariza? Aminu and Xavier Henry are still young but have amounted to nothing in this league… opinions on them?
—–
Also, Marco Belinelli’s contract is expiring, do you seem them re-signing him to bring him off the bench or is 3 mil/yr (probably what he’s looking for) going to be too much?
speak up!

fliptonnParticipantEveryone knows Indiana is going to go after him hard, whether they can afford him or not depends on Hibbert’s and Grangers contracts. He’ll most likely get a max contract because someone will offer him one. Keep phoenix, Brooklyn, Cleveland, and even Boston in mind as well. Don’t be surprised if New Orleans works in a sign and trade some how.
Basically, the prospect of him leaving New Orleans flat out is probably just as likely as him staying. The #1 pick would certainly help keep him though. They definitely could end up being something special if they draft correctly.

Charlie SheenParticipantI think New Orleans let him walk at the max, new ownership wont want huge deals on the books for a team in rebuilding mode, as good as Gordon is I dont see him as a true #1 option on a championship contender, I’d love to see him in Indiana that team would be stacked, they could move Granger, slide PG-24 over to the 3 spot, add in George Hill at the 1, Hibbert at the 5 and West and Hansbrough holding down the 4 and you got a 3,4,5 seed year in and year out.
New Orleans can work out a sign and trade deal and get a 1st rounder from Indiana and build through the draft with all their picks

fliptonnParticipantIf they get the picks they are supposed to get they could pick up T-Rob or Kidd-Gilchrist and Marshall. They will likely get rid of Kaman and depending on who they take Landry as well.
If they take Gilchrist theyll likely keep Landry, if they take T-Rob theyll probably drop him.
Kendall Marshall would likely replace Jarrett Jack.
Either Ariza or Landry can start on that team for now. Looking forward they could actually be a pretty deep team.
Theyll likely let Belinelli walk if you ask me.
It’s gonna be a busy off-season

I May Be WrongParticipantI thought Carl Landry and Monty Williams were not on good terms? I know he was injured but I thought I read that Landry was frustrated with his minutes/role with the team and Monty chose to play Ayon and others because of Landry’s lack of defense. I think he’ll be gone and that’s a good move for him to go back to place where he can be the first big man off the bench.
Honestly, I have to wait to see their draft position and who they will most likely look to target once the lottery solidifies the selection order. The Hornets could go into complete rebuilding mode and have a few years of struggling to win games but just keep looking to get draft picks. If their draft position does not relaly solve any of their problems, I see them keeping some peices like Jack, Ariza, and maybe even Bellinelli

BlueLacesParticipantNo way am I giving Eric Gordon a max contract. He has missed more than 20 games in 3 of his 4 seasons. When healthy, he is one of the top young players in the league. If I were a GM, I would let someone else take the gamble on him. It could pay off, or it is the type of contract extension that could set your franchise back if he indeed can’t stay healthy.

IndianaBasketballParticipantIndiana, Brooklyn, Cleveland, Dallas, Phoenix and Portland are interested in Eric Gordon’s services. I can’t see any of those teams offering him 5 years and $80 million. New Orleans already offered him 4 years and roughly over $50 million and Gordon turned that down. I really don’t think New Orleans will let him go. They’ll match any offer.
Gordon says he likes the city and really respects coach Williams, but I know his heart isn’t there. IF they want to keep him, they’ll have to offer him 5 years $80 million or else I could see him just taking the qualifying offer and becoming an unrestricted free-agent next summer.

I doubt Kaman returns. New Orleans went back and forth on trying to trade him all season. I think Kaman signs with another team. I also can’t see Landry returning… He was in coach Williams’ dog house and was called out. You’d have to think that Thomas Robinson is high on their draft board.

I personally think Jack is a backup, but I think they’ll keep him around until they can get an upgrade. He was solid as a starter and is a tough player. I personally can’t stand Vasquez, but I think he showed enough to be brought back. Unless traded, Ariza will obviously be back. I think Aminu is still full of potential and showed flashes this year at both ends of the floor. I’m not really impressed with Henry, but he’ll be brought back.

I can’t see Belinelli returning. I see the Hornets wanting to give his minutes to Henry.
