Having just won the series against the Orlando Magic (no surprises there), the Pacers are off to the 2nd round of the playoffs to most probably meet the Sizers. I feel that, though the Sixers present an intriguing match-up, the Pacers will probably win that series in 5 games as well. They will then move on to face either the Celtics or the Heat. Unless Indina plays near flawless basketball against either of those teams or if the Heat or Celtics suddenly play tired because of their own previous match-up, I don’t think the Pacers get through to the Finals. What do you guys think? Good run for Indiana though. I’m excited to see what the team as a whole can develop into in the near future.

Hopefully they get to steal a consistent all-star level player (not like Danny Granger or Hibbert who would both probably just make it once in their careers; though Hibbert may have more due to the thinness of the center position) via the draft, free agency or a trade. People say they already have Paul George to serve that but, I am not as sold on him as a lot of other people are. Yes, I see flashes and  I think he can be a very good player (and can probably get a few All-star appearances) but, the way people hype him, it is as if he’s going to be a superstar or something. But, if they do get another player of that level and put him with the rest of the core of this present team then WOW. They can be like the anti-Heat or something – solid depth and not a top-heavy team talent-wise wherein all five guys on the floor can kill you.

Thanks for pointing this out! Well, I guess they don’t make it past the 2nd round then…lol. But I think they may give Miami a good series that will probably last 6 games and Miami will then be tired in the ECF and then be even more tired for the Finals (as much as I hate the Heat, I do see them making it that far) as they will most probably face the Celtics in the ECF. Either way, the main point of my post was to discuss the team in the near future. But thanks a lot for pointing my mistake out.

lol yeah. MIA needs to take care of business. I don’t think they can afford to go the distance in each round when Wade and LBJ are playing 36 min+ a night. It only gets tougher till the ECF

Hibbet and Granger are going to have to put the "man pants" on against the Heat if they want to last even 6 games.

George is going to have to be able to lock down either Wade or Lebron, Hibbert is going to have to beast inside, and Hill is going to need to dominate his matchup. I’m rooting for the Pacers to steal a couple of games, just because I’d hate to face a fresh Miami in the ECF as a Celtics fan.

Indiana won’t win (they’re a Nash short of that), but absolutely will compete with the Heat. They’re a matchup nightmare for them as far as starters go.  Heat have no one to cover Hibbert, West can reasonably match Bosh, Granger and George can cover Wade, at the least, reasonably well, while Hill is better than the Heat 1’s.  Of course, the Heat defense is insane and Indiana is weak scoring, so they’ll lose, but if they feed Roy enough, it’ll be a series.

The Pacers will miss Jeff Foster and his toughness against the Heat.

With that said, I really think the Pacers will bring it versus the Heat similar to the way they did versus the Bulls last season. They’re not afraid of the Heat. They don’t have anyone that can stop LeBron James, but I think Paul George can make it difficult on Dwayne Wade. I think David West can equal Chris Bosh.

IF the Pacers stand a chance, they’ll have to kill the Heat on the glass, feed the post (Roy Hibbert can earn the payday he wants by dominating this series) and getting back in transition. The bench will have to show up.

The Pacers point guards will have to play tough this series and not turn the ball over, and Danny Granger will have to think twice about settling for long jumpers.

The Pacers have to make this an ugly series. No transition points, dunks or layups. Just tough defense and straight up half-court grind it out basketball.

There is no way Indiana scares Miami. Period.

I look at the Pacers as a shooting team. I know they are more that that but look at West.. He is a pick and pop player who thrives when he is shooting well. Granger is a versatile scorer but he is much better when he is hitting his shot from deep.  Even Hibbert is a much better option when he can hit is elbow shot.  George becomes an amazing sophomore when he is nocking down shots.

The point is, shooting teams get hot.. All it takes is a hot streak and the Pacers can beat the Heat.

They have the players to do it.. What if Wade or Lebron get in early foul trouble trying to help on Hibbert??

Things could happen to push the Pacers to win.. However, I dont see it happening..

if Pacers will come out with confidence, the right mind set, without the feelings of inferiority and play to their strengths they could make it a close series, the devil is not so bad!

@The8thDeadlySin: They can get hot, yeah. But they hang their collective hat on playing tough defense. They’re capable of scoring on the run, but nobody is going to compete with Miami’s fastbreak game and win. If Indy is going to make a series of it. they’re going to have to stifle either LeBron or Wade (which is a tall order) and dominate on the inside.

I’m rooting for the Pacers, as always, but objectively, the Heat probably win in six.
