UNCbasketballbumParticipantIt is time that Ewing got a chance at a head-coaching position. He has paid his dues on SVG’s staff in Orlando and has proven himself worthy of head-coaching position. Let’s be honest, the Bobcats can’t get any worse and have nowhere to go but up, so why not give Ewing a shot? If the Cats land the number one pick and get Anthon Davis, the combination of Ewing and Davis, both great shot blockers, could be something special in Charlotte.

For_Never_EverParticipantThe Charlotte Bobcats will interview Orlando Magic assistant Patrick Ewing for their vacant head-coaching job, Yahoo! Sports reported, citing sources.
CENTERS OF ATTENTION
Best center in NBA history: Russell, Wilt or Kareem? Here’s our top 10.
The meeting is expected to take place once the Magic’s run in the playoffs is over. That could come as early as Tuesday night, with the Pacers holding a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series going into Game 5.
The Hall of Fame center and New York Knicks great is close friends with Charlotte owner Michael Jordan and the sources said Ewing was a serious candidate for the post.
Charlotte are also reportedly interested in Golden State Warriors assistant Mike Malone and former Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan.
The stronger candidates are expected to wait until the May 30 draft lottery before making any decisions on their future, because it is then that they will find out if the Bobcats will win the No. 1 overall pick to take Kentucky’s star center Anthony Davis.
Charlotte announced last week that coach Paul Silas would not return after a forgettable 7-59 season — the team’s 0.106 winning percentage was the worst in NBA history.
Ewing has been waiting for years for an opportunity to become a head coach at the NBA level, having spent the past eight seasons as an assistant.
He worked with Yao Ming in Houston and helped develop Dwight Howard into the NBA’s top center at the Magic, but has said he fears he has been pigeonholed as a big man’s coach.

HitsterParticipantPatrick Ewing would be a great choice as he’s a legend in his own right and would have the sort of strong personality that could deal with MJ. Plus if they happened to get Anthony Davis then Patrick would be a great guy to develop him and Biyombo.
However Nate would be my prefered choice if MJ wants an experienced coach, he is a disciplinarian which a young team needs and took Portland from a lottery team into the play offs.

Ghost01ParticipantThis would be bad…a young coach would not be a good option for this reclamation project…and it’d be once again MJ signing a buddy over a legit candidate.

PabloFiascoParticipant@FvckSwag666 are you serious? No experienced veteran coach wants to touch this Bobcat project. This is definitely a young new coach team. Ewing is one of the best options available and he’s not one of MJ’s buddies like Rod Higgins is (who btw let his son play on the team this year)

HitsterParticipantA big name coach would want a hefty salary which MJ may not be pepared to pay, other coaches may try to get some sort of front office position also. MJ must have loads of contacts but getting someone into the Bobcats job may be harder than he thinks.
Mike D’Antoni could be an option as he’d play entertaining ball whilst the team was rebuilding but would the players really learn a lot under him.
As I said above an experienced strong arm coach like Nate McMillan would be my first choice but Patrick Ewing would be an interesting option. He has made his money already so would perhaps want some sort of guarantees about the make up of the team but he is a big name who I think could handle MJ’s demands.
I wonder if MJ has considered coaching the team himself?

The8thDeadlySinParticipantI have been saying Mike D’Antoni for over a month now… He can make the team exciting and turn them into a playoff team. Once he does that, fire him and hire a coach to push them over the edge..
