Knicks and LIN

There will be a team that’ll give him a 5yr/40m contract.  I just know it.

 The nets have not lost DWill yet, and Lin can command a higher salary because of the hype he got, but i dont see a scenario where Nets and Lin concur more than any other team.

 If he wants to get paid then he will take the MLE. That’s the most a team can offer him due to the Arenas provision and the Knicks will obviously match it.

 The smart teams will go after Nash or Dragic…two guys who have proven too be consistent.

The most they can offer Lin is the MLE because the Knicks have no cap room and he has yet to get bird rights

Lin will get the MLE or QO from the Knicks 

 Warriors should sign Lin back and chuck Curry that would be funny kind of like Blazers with Steve Blake

New CBA says the Knicks can match salary for Lin.

I don’t think any team can offer him a huge deal.

 The problem is that Lin hasn’t proven he can be effective with the team playing like it is now with an isolation based offense.  Lin’s biggest skill, running the pick and roll, may be negated a bit without the Knicks adjusting their style of play.  That said, I am optimistic that the Knicks coaches could find ways to play to both Lin and Anthony’s strengths.

If I were a smart GM on a smaller market team, I would go after Lin in the range of 7-10 Million per year. The additional Merchandise revenue and national TV exposure will make his salary much easier to swallow.

Wait a minute, you guys do remember the Gilbert Arenas rule, right? This rule applies to guys like Lin, and means that teams cannot offer more than the MLE for him, meaning the Knicks will be able to keep him, and there is a different rule that would allow them to keep Landry Fields as well.

And I think Miami will close this series out in game 5, but at the begining of the series I said that for the Knicks to even have a shot, they needed two amazing games from Melo, and two more games where Novak and Smith go bonkers. we saw today where Anthony got hot, Miami should take care of buisness at home, because if they don’t there is going to be a lot of buzz around their failure to close, and one slip up in game 5 could mean game 6 in front of a pumped Garden crowd, and imagine if Lin returns in a game 6 or 7(I don’t think there will be either though) I don’t think Lin puts them over the top as much as I love him, but hope is an amazing thing, and if anyone symbolizes hope and opportunity, it’s Lin.

The Knicks will just match any offer that Lin gets I’d assume, they make so much revenue that it won’t really be an issue and in NY, he’s in his biggest market so I just cannot see him moving.

The max he can be offered is the MLE.  He’s a Knick next year.  You can debate if he fits all you want, but for MLE?  There’s zero chance the Knicks don’t match that.
