Mr. JewboyParticipantI just came by an amazing stat that I wasn’t aware of. Lebron James has led the league in the +/- category for every season since 2008-2009. That means 4 years in a row, two of them being with a Cavs team that we have wintessed are not very good to say the least without him.
Idk about you, but I think that the +/- stat is one of the more telling stats about the player because it basically says how much the team wins (or loses) by when the player is on the court.
Lebron is clearly the best player of the past few years and should be at least top 10 ever if he wins the championship this year

BruinSteveParticipantThat is very impressive but I have two points. One,the plus minus is flawed and a great player on a bad team(Kevin Durant before) will have a terrible plus minus. Also in those 5 years he led the leage in plus minus, he was never been in the top 5 in the post season which is a bit dissapointing.

TallmanNYCParticipantSome people swear by plus minus other people don’t think it is that helpful for individual performance. Lebron has lead the league in most cumulative stats during the regular season so it really isn’t that impressive thathe does it in plus minus.
Nash continues to have sick plus minus (the suns pretty much fall apart when he isn’t on the court). But would call him a top ten player? Top 20? Or is he just really really important for the way his team is set up?

TallmanNYCParticipantBy the way, I assume you mean plus minus differential. Not just pure plus minus because if your team is bad you won’t have a good plus minus because your team is out scored but if they are out scored even more when you are off the court then it looks like you are doing something right.
Like nash this year his team is plus four when on the court, a winning team, and negative 8 when he is off the court.

TomShoeParticipantThe stat is actually a good teller of value on a team. Just look at Matt Bonner. The guy has one of the best +/- in the league, because his ability to space the floor helps his other teammates drive into the lane and get easy shots. How do you think the Heat have been able to strangle the Knicks? By stopping Steve Novak, and forcing them to Iso-Melo vs. Lebron. Matt Bonner and Novak are better than you realize.
