SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantWith the recent injury bug hitting the nba Jerry Colangelo is inviting Demarcus cousins, Greg Monroe and anthoney davis to tryout for team USA. Roy Hibbert also made the list but was later revealed he will not be eligible to play for team USA since he played for the Jamaican National team.
Who do you see coach k and his staff going with? I really like cousins but i have a feeling he won’t be the choice. Davis would be an epic choice esspecially if he sees the floor. Imagine having that competetive advantage coming into your rookie year SUMMER LEAGUE in london. With that being said Monroe is the safest choice.
Also Colangelo has extended an offer to Rondo. I don’t like Rondo in the international game. Let CP3 run things and give someone new a chance…like..Irving, Wall or Holiday maybe even Ty Lawson. NO NO NO i got it JEREMY LIN hahahaha jk
This is who i see starting
cp3
kobe
bron
melo
chandler
with dwayne and durant first of the bench

IndianaBasketballParticipantI recently mentioned this in another thread about Team USA possibly being weak at point guard IF Deron Williams didn’t play. I think it’s smart to invite Rondo back. He’s not a great shooter, but he’s an amazing passer and defender out in open court.

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI agree that rondo’s passing ability is out of this world and would be a good basketball decison.
BUT from a teammate point of view-I feel that Rondo would be a stick in the mud with that group of guys. I know its about basketball and not about friends but what made that 2008 team so good is that they all had respect for each other and generally loved playing with each other. I feel that there is a general dislike for rondo around the league. In all actuality Rajon Rondo would not of been a house hold name if it wasnt for KG ray ray and paul suuwwwooop gang pierce.
Deron Williams is the obvious choice hapefully he finds a team so he can play.
There’s enough floor generals with lebron and cp3.
I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that if it were up to a vote of the returning 2008 team members they would rather have Wall Iriving or Holiday over Rondo.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantRondo was rumored to be so peeved for getting cut from TEAM USA, that he might not return….He said some unpleasant things to say about the coaching staff…..But they can use him..
Its great for Cousins to get an invite….He gives them a low post threat, that Howard provided..And with Chandler providing defense..Thats a great 1-2 center punch….
Great to see Anthony Davis get an invite….I’ll love to see him Lebron, and Chandler on the court at the same time playing defense…But i’m not sure how much playing time Davis will receive…
I know im going get some flack for saying this, but John Wall should get an invite..He’s a unique talent and has the skills to be a top 5 point guard….But hasnt put it all 2gether yet..Coach K can help him develope his game..Becuz Derrick Rose and Rudy Gay became better all around players after going thru the experience…

RUDEBOY_Participant@robbed206 ,you saying Rondo wouldnt be an all star if he wasnt on the Celtics?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 05/03/2012 - 9:37am #667034

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantNo way would he of been an allstar if that draft night trade never would of happend. He would of bounced around the leauge as at best an average pg.
You can say what you want about his passing ability but it sure does help when u got KG in the post and Ray coming off screens.
I like to look at it this way. Put Rajon Rondo on John Walls rookie wizards team and it would of been SO BAD
Put John Wall on Rondo’s first year with the big 3 and that team would of been GNARLY

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI figured Rondo would become a career backup, but he surprised me by becoming a star..Maybe playing with the Big 3 did encouraged him to work harder…But after his rookie year,he didnt look like the Rondo we see today..
I remember after Rondo’s rookie year,Jeff Van Gundy said Boston will need an upgrade at the point guard spot,if they want to become a title contender…

mj23mj23besteverParticipantimo the fact that pg cant contain him one on one and hes constantly forcing ds too slide and help giving the big 3 wide open looks its not the big has made him better hes keeping the big 3 good

IndianaBasketballParticipantI don’t think Rondo is a superstar, but he’s proven he’s a great point guard. He’s arguably top five with Boston, probably still top ten without them.
His only real weakness is shooting and some games he looks more comfortable shooting than others. I’m a fan… I wish the Pacers could acquire him.
