SupParticipantSo let’s recap…Kobe goes to Germany and has a new knee installed. Now all of a sudden Kobe leads the NBA in scoring and now in the playoffs Kobe is playing the best ball he’s played in years. Is that knee operation cheating? If not do you think it will extend other careers as well? For example, Vince Carter could re-enter the slamdunk contest if he were to see similar results…

PulseGlazerParticipantIt didn’t seem to restore his athletecism as much as it helped improve his stamina. He was just able to carry a far greater load again without fatigue. It won’t have that level impact on Vince who has never remotely touched Kobe in skill.

benny15Participantskill is one thing, i would say Carter is right there on Kobe’s league. where they differ and Kobe is like the NBA while Carter is the D-League is consistency. Carter isnt able to do all those things all the time. the only real NBA skill that i think Kobe is much better than Vince is defense. Offensively, i dont see much difference in their arsenal, but ability to use them consistently and efficiently is a completely different matter.

CynthiaParticipantGetting your knee fixed isn’t cheating. That’s like saying someone who’s about to die and gets an organ transplant is cheating at life.

IndianaBasketballParticipantWell, Derrick Rose better not go get his ACL repaired. That’d be cheating. He’s just supposed to let it heal, hope scar tissue doesn’t form, wear a brace for the rest of his career and pray to God his knee doesn’t slip out of place the next time he hop steps causing him early arthritus.

Jlv2012with the injuries and surgeries he’s had is one of the reasons why he is one of the best to play the game.

GrandmamaParticipantKobe got that plasma treatment right?? There have been multiple athletes that have traveled overseas now to receive this treatment that isn’t available in the U.S. Bartolo Colon had it done to his shoulder and now he’s pitching his @ss off at the age of 39. Seems like this treatment works.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantSomebody tell A-Rod he probably went to the wrong surgeon. He’s still playing terribly.

bloodshyParticipantSo much of it is mental. Yes, he was an all-world athlete in his prime. Yes, he’s one of the most skilled players to every play the game. But Kobe is a guy that is willing to go through the physical pain and the emotional grind to create the legacy he wants for himself. That is a huge reason he is so skilled. You can only get to that level after years of intense grind, perfecting every aspect of your game.
If I were betting on 1 player to break Kareem’s record, it would be Kobe. He has a ridiculous amount of determination. And for the record, I’m not a Kobe fan, though I can appreciate his attitude and game.
